Allot of peoples think think thisis an egg while watching the dvd v/blue-ray in the movies...Vinyl. very nice like Reel to Reel. Radio o o ;} Talnk youse
My wife's 45 single had the whole thing on it, the song on side 1and the dialog on side 2, and I recorded it to cassette so it was the whole skit without any gaps! We never had the album
Classic! I remember listening to this on my AM Transistor Radio while getting ready to go to Junior High School back in the early 70's. Somebody in the Air Force in the 80's stole my Wedding Album. Fucker.
My wife's 45 had more of the skit in which the dad rips the needle across the album and tells the son to get ready for school, in which the son says he has an earache, to which the dad says "Earache My Eye". When the dad leaves the room the music is resumed for the end of the skit.
wow... full length jam. i still dig the radio version as i first heard it on cklw am radio in windsor living in detroit and in california i met them and they were huge comedians there. i never understood weed culture but it was cool and i was into the song... i tried it and inhaled. sure. lol... columbian gold was the big deal then. ;)
I still contend that this was the first real rap recording. This is clearly rap. A case can be made for James Brown having done it first, and even Leon Russel toyed with it in the late sixties. But this was the first real "rap".
@@mikesimonian484 I am... its just that Dylan's style of "singing" is a bit of a hybrid speaking and singing, while Zappa's (in Trouble Everyday) is straight up rhythmic speaking (about a race riot). Like I said, Dylan is a bit of a grey-area in this conversation. Not saying you are entirely wrong (there's always an evolution of influences) by considering he doesn't sing in the traditional sense... but I'm saying there are stronger examples, (especially in "Trouble Everyday") Bob is folk... and while the social commentary nature of his lyrics is an overlap to the hip-hop world, his vocal style lacks the rhythmic element (his rhyming style is on point... and if that's what you are valuing here, then okay... but, again, Trouble Everyday has that too)
I was so pleased to find this when I read the title...only to find out that the "Turn That Thing Down" wasn't the skit. I love the music, but the skit is so much better
Yeah of course it is! I posted this single as an extension of the album track, posted here: Cheech & Chong - Earache My Eye {full version-1974} I've updated the description to add that link.
***** dont get me wrong, i found that one first and I fave'd it. I just have a GF who is def in one ear and slightly def in the other, so the subtitles/lyrics on both the song and the skit would have been perfect
Great song, but even better with the skit. There is a more recent humourous live video on RUclips where Cheech (or Chong -- I can't recall) is performing the song while while wearing a ballerina costume as on the cover of the album.
It's probably from the movie "Up In Smoke" where Cheech Marin is on stage singing in the pink ballerina uniform while Tommy Chong is wasted behind the drums.
amazing horn section... too bad wasted on a silly song , also not sure why he turned into a pun drag queen all of a sudden at end of movie ..lol maybe was a sattire on the other bands at the event ?
Because it's all about the costumes and the appearance as much as the music man did you even watch the movie man these outfits make the band look tight y'know man I know they suck but it's like what's hot man
The full album track with all the dialogue is posted here:

Also this song explains alot of thier songs and skits in one song.
3:29 great example.

I know how you feel. I lent my 45 R.P.M. version of the record to a kid I knew in high school, and he never gave it back.
Where's the rest?
A true Rock n Roll masterpiece

One of my moms favorites.thank you~.oldschool....
Thank you for posting this, the 45 is mastered louder than the LP!
Where's the rest?
@Mr-Rett rest of what?
fucking awesome, wanted just the tune for decades!
Where's the rest?
I swear aside from "turn that thing down and get ready for school" you can hear the musicians talking to each other-if you listen very closely
Just got up to this great way to start my morning I dig it
And that's the rest of it?
Nicely done! This mix is appreciated a lot :-)
Where's the rest?
Love it. This and the Tubes 'White Punks on Dope' make a great 2-for. Punk is just on the horizon...
I had not realized Cheech was one of the pioneers, C B.
This is far from punk !!!!!! More like hardrock.
Classic masterpiece!
Get it! Cheech!! Slamming!!!
Thanks for this version -- was reminded of the song earlier today.

Love that song
The Best!!!
I had the single once, but unfortunately it was scratched and skipped from the moment I first played it. :(
you probably didn't get ready for school on time! 😆

actually, that honor goes to Frank Zappa "Trouble Every Day"

@@mikesimonian484 oh man... bringing Bob Dylan's version of vocals into it is a major grey area, lol.
