    With just a few months in owning a rc boat. I'm still amazed at what a tiny change in prop size, pitch , and shape will do to the performance of a boat! The cnc props are awsome but i Guess the next step for me is trying my hand at balancing and sharpening the beryllium copper props. So many options out there.

    • @IRONCLADRC
      @IRONCLADRC  2 года назад +2

      You'll enjoy the prop balancing process it can be somewhat annoying at times. Just sharpen & Balance at first I wouldn't recommend modifications until you get the balancing down pat. Once you start modifications do it on old props that you really don't mind screwing up. Or get a couple cheap (tfl props) to tinker on they end easy & is made of a soft material. Good luck. 👍

    I have always wanted an RC boat! I got a few buggies and trucks, some heavily modified, etc. Never had an area that an RC boat could be safely ran in my town or even within hours (Alaska), but we're moving in a few days to the lower 48 and looking forward to expanding my hobbies with the kiddos.

      There's a TON of RC boat videos out there, but I must say; if you want to learn something, this is one of (if not) the BEST channels. Sometimes, Big B can be WAY off the mark in his diagnosis of a problem (his learning curve is increasing like a rocket to the moon though...), but for the other 98% of the time you can rely completely on the information he so eloquently explains in his cool, laid-back Southern style. "NICE!" "Git it Bull...." "Full Trigger, Full Trigger!!!!......." If you have any similar RC experience (Cars, airplanes), boating should be easy. Just be forewarned; there is no "perfect" setup, parts are hard to find, you LHS has no idea what an RC boat is or where they can be found, but you will spend a lot of fun time trying to find "The Sweet Spot". That's the fun of boating, many of us are going where no man has gone before.....
      Lastly (and this applies to ANYBODY considering a venture into the hobby), ASK QUESTIONS of those who obviously have some experience; you can save yourself time and grief. There are good products out there, and there is crap. Experienced modelers know the difference and are usually more than willing to share their experiences with various products. Big B has a business connection with ProBoat, but don't let that affect your thinking. ProBoat has done a whole lot in improving and perfecting the RC boating experience and the product line they offer is outstanding.
      Welcome to........ The Boat Gang! 😉

      @@Dr_Jet Great! I have gown up on the ocean and live next to it for a few more days till we move. We're moving more inland now and this will be the first time away from an ocean or large body of water in my life. I also used to weld aluminum for a living and have worked around fishing vessels for years.
      I plan to tig-weld a small scale aluminum boat for fun in the coming year, like this winter.

      @@Dr_Jet I will have to buy a new one. Shipping out of Alaska has been pricy. They are closing the port on July 19th this year due to safety from lack of maintenance and it is loosing money. It was $3600 for four pallets to be shipped from a town two hour north of us to Anchorage and then to Washington state. Once there it is another 1800 - 2200 for the pallets to be shipped to our state of choice, which is somewhere in the Midwest.
      I want a Millermatic 252 because I have used one for years, but will likely buy a Weldpro 200GD since it will be used for hobby purposes, etc.

    I actually like the 32 4 prop...its for fun ...if you ease on throttle you can stop all the crazy spins and jumps..I have a stock vector s I installed a plastic 32 4 prop on...on 3s it's much faster than stock prop..but on 4s it's a crazy ballistic fun boat..maybe 35 mph top speed...I also used shrink wrap and epoxy to add a ball bearing to drive..so smooth now..stock motor and esc handle 4s without issues..barely warm after 8 mins..

      @@IRONCLADRC I would try turning down the steering to like 25% & dial it up slowly if more is needed. Also there’s got to be a way to install a wire drive or flex shaft & loose the drive shafts, those are power thieves lol. Let’s get this boat to do like 60mph lol

    I didn't recall if you ever tune tunnel hulls with outboard motor. I got TFL Sprint F3 and on speeds over 60km/h it is uncontrollable in turns. Prop is tfl 32x1.4. My Saturday ride finished with broken flex shaft and destroyed prop.

    My lipo came dead on arrival. 1.17v total. 2cells zero volts. Did take a .5amp charge to 3.75v per cell. Can't wait to hit the lake

    • @IRONCLADRC
      @IRONCLADRC  2 года назад +1

      Use caution olwith what I'm about to tell you! With that said. Put the lipo on your charger with out the balance leads hooked up.
      Put the charger on NIMH on 1A -2A charge rate charge the battery until the voltage is at storage charge around 3.7v per cell. AS SOON AS THE BATTERY HITS THAT VOLTAGE SHUT NIMH OFF AND balance charge the battery at .5-1a charge rate.
      Basically your bringing back the dead battery with the nimh charge so you can balance charge the battery. (FOOLING THE BATTERY BACK TO LIFE)
      SOMETIMES IT WORKS SOMETIMES IT DOESNT SO IF THE NIMH CHAGE DOESN'T BRING THE BATTERY BACK TO STORAGE CHARGE THE BATTERY IS DEAD DISPOSE OF THE BATTERY ITS GARBAGE
