When we start counting geometric distribution from 0, we're counting the number of failures. Here, sir is saying we start from one to count the number of trials before first success. That's actually called "shifted" geometric distribution.

The Basketball throw example is not clear. 3 rounds mean that P1 should have had the success within 2.

Yes, but is like P1 - 0 , P2 - 0, P1 - 1 , if you see he is getting success in 2 trials only. If p2 gets it in 2nd trial , the game is over for p1 , i.e P(B
