Would never give access to a router from the cloud or remote binding unless you're managing multiple sites for a business 💀 why give the attack surface.
The ER7212 is a good unit. However, 2 issues. It is rather slow to access it due to the 1Ghz CPU used. Also, all but the SFP ports are 1 Gig connection. Most current motherboards are 2.5 Gig and quite a lot of people are now getting over 1 Gig speed.
This is perfect where your internet is 200Mbps-1Gbps and your clients are internet-facing 90-95% of the time. In that case, you could run 100s of devices off this type of equipment. Your only limitation is internet bandwidth. Want to run a local file server, get a 2-4 port Intel NIC, and bind a few 1G ports together. If you have a scenario where you have dozens of video editors working with raw footage over a LAN from a file server and a massive WAN connection, sure this does not fit the bill, but no single box at this price would.
Old technology in a futuristic modern world, no thanks. These routers should at least all have 2.5GbE ports, without SFP+ link-speed issues requiring months of firmware updates.....
Like you I have been a Unifi man for some time, but I've been very disappointed over the past year with Unifi's AP performance. I would like to know your updated thoughts on Unifi vs Omanda now, with respect to devices and wifi 7 performance.
Good tutorial! VPN in the description always confuses me haha. Is this where you can assign certain devices on your network to a VPN, or you can set up a VPN to log into your network remotely? I think the device limit would be a deal breaker for most people. I know you mentioned the WAP 6E limitation, but can you use a Ubiquiti 6e WAP with it?
Thanks for the video. I wanna install 1 access point at home with different vlans one for me and other for my roommate. And I want switches to connect my NAS with my vlan and my roommates NAS with his vlan. Can you suggest me tp link devices for this. 1 access point will be enough as we don’t have a big apartment.
this is a piece of trash. like really. if they would sell it for less maybe. but in the end a good old PC with omada sdn and at lest 1 dual port 10gbe or 2.5 and one of their manages switches with those 4x 10gbe sfp+ and Nx 1gig ports is a much better value for around the same price
Hi, thanks! A question, I need to use this equipment to interconnect 2 PLC (controllers) in a factory. The controllers are in two different range of IP... Do you think is it possible? My app is not for internet or wifi. Thanks again!
Have they fixed the poe power not displaying issue?? Does this also not have the er605 acl issue of not isolating vlans? Is this more er7206 than er605?? The poe power thing was an issue I sent mine back. Of you are going to combine, it had to have all of the functions or more than the individual units it's replacing. Or is a fail. Interesting hear. Wanted this to work. It didn't do went back to separate units. Er605/er7206 Sg2210p Oc200. I don't like the tp-link APs.... Limited, flaky, not as reliable as unifi/aruba. Want them to work as well but they don't. Not good in dense congested environments with interference from other APs. In real world experience.
I would like to know if it's feasible to use the ER7212 to combine two WAN connections and then power a Deco X50 PoE Wi-Fi network and some security cameras. Thx :)
Please can you do more on the TP Link Omada. I couldn't afford the Ubnfi kit. I have a small B&B and its Wifi is getting hack by a neighbour. He often shouts out his windows that he can get into my network anytime. The PPSk has helped but I have Reolink cameras very close to his house (6ft) and I thinks it's how he is getting in. An update Video on Omada kit would really help as they have made many changes since your video 2 years ago. Keep up the good work & thank you
great now my 3 TP Link boxes including the slowest controller ever are taking up 2 boxes too much space on my shelf and a extra slot on my pwr board. this built in controller looks heaps quicker then the OC200, Do not like the cucking of how many switches or users you can hang off it but would not effect my use.
Great review man! I absolutely love the PPSK setup as well. Limits all the band interference. I have the OC200 hardware controller. Might have to consider a future upgrade and sunset the extra hardware controller.
I love this.. but Cody, I just need to know if this switch already have a PPPoE server? The OC200 does not. I have switches in another houses that I want to have PPPoE authentication since that AP is not an Omada device. Hope you can spare a time to answer my question. I am from Philippines
Question would be...can you use the 'restore from backup' function to import an existing config that currently has the oc200 and er605? That would save time for upgrading to this single device...
I always wondered how the institution I'm in handed out VLANS depending on password entered. Now I know, PPSK. I hope Unifi gets this functionality some time soon.
Hi! I really enjoy your vids, not following so long. I did our whole company networking with unifi following some of your videos which was really fun! We got a client project going on at the moment where I need a standalone wifi router which has the ability to open up a wifi only when needed (either command or just by booting). The wifi should have a random SSID everytime like "network_XXXX" where XXXX is a random combination of letters/numbers or whatever. Do you or anyone who reads this knows if there is something like that avaiable? Brand doesnt really matter. So far I've contacted TP-Link support, but they told me they do not have anything avaiable at the moment which does that Would be great to get some ideas :)
I wish UNIFI had a similar product, thats great for access control and door hubs. I don't really need wifi for that . Just imagine, 4 port poe++ 4 port poe+ 1 port for uplink. Robust industrial case likeUSW-Industrial
@@MactelecomNetworks Thank you for your answer, I know but it's just a switch, we need a device like tp link on your video, cloud key, router and switch combine. for industrial use , dream router nice for desktop use but not usable for this kind of environment, all I need internet connection for remote access and imaginary access-router :)
This is cool but can you go over some of the router and vpn functions? Also, Is this a next gen FW too, or just a spoke router for site to site vpn? I am looking for cheaper options to install in small business, or customers homes other than UI. The landing page is very Meraki'ish with the multi site layout I would just like to see the whole package from a consulting perspective. Thanks!!
Just a high level comparison of features to Ubiquiti and PFSense, like filtering, logging and packet inspection and what you can do with it. UI gives you more insight than control for example.

Just about every time I come to this channel, I learn something new. PPSK is going to help a lot! Thanks.
Me too

The datasheet states the SFP ports are 1Gb/s as well. Aren't they?

bad news i wanted it but my isp can givr me 2.5gbps.....why limit to 1
Would love to see the full build! Thanks for this review. Saw the preview on TikTok weeks ago and have been waiting for this.
I've deployed over 20 of these out in the field all solit and good units, the GUI is a tad slow from the cloud but meh ! Nice video Cody

TP-Link did something unifi is unable to. Make it simple to manage VLANs....

Where did you find the specs that it's limited to 2 switches and 10 APs?
My question if it’s limited to two switches. Does the in-wall AP’s that essentially have a switch built in affect this?
Config IPTV OMADA
Thank you, great video as always, would like to see full build if you please.
Can I manage my Omada Vigi recorder using this 3 - in - 1 router?

UI ist completely copied from Ubiquiti Unifi.. Even the icons are completely the same.
I will stay with the original from Ubiquiti
Device limit? Considering 5 Ap's, with around 300 people signed on the wifi at max. And a handful(less the 20) hardwired devices.

Looking to learn how to setup a full omada network with their new equipment!
Can I change my Location IP address on this VPN Router?
thanks alot! just learned a bunch of new things.
Inches? Aren't you Canadian...?
Hi, can u test the sfp port if it's support GPON ONU SFP
can we have a side by side function and performance comparison with unifi?
I always wondered how the institution I'm in handed out VLANS depending on password entered. Now I know, PPSK. I hope Unifi gets this functionality some time soon.
Unifi has PPSK in their latest EA :)

Try Mikrotik and a some custom script for that

Can't connect to main VLAN 1.
Full build please!!!
Thanks. I would like to see a full build.
Does this work for Glas fibre connections?
For sure you would have to purchase sfp connections though
love to see comparisons!
Full setup pls, are there any unify courses we can do to become a network engineer as yourself?
Always nice to see a smart young man getting into IT. The GTA is a good area for it right now.

Hey,
Not sure which next gen firewall features you are looking for.
I am planning on doing a video series on this plateform
