For No One» -en español: «Para nadie»- es una canción escrita por Paul McCartney (aunque se atribuye a Lennon/McCartney) que aparece originalmente en el séptimo álbum de los Beatles, Revolver. La canción termina abruptamente, así como la relación que describe. El título original de la canción fue Why Did It Die? ("¿Por qué eso murió?"). McCartney estaba por entonces de novio con la actriz Jane Asher, con quién rompería dos años después

What I love about the Beatles and George Martin is the simpatico they had, especially during those Revolver/Pepper years. They were finishing each other’s sentences. The sparse arrangement on the album fits the lyrics exactly. Nearly every word is one syllable, which echos the narrator’s flat sadness. He’s expressing resignation. She’s not coming back. It’s clear to him, and his days are shaded by this sense of loss. It is a perfect arrangement. No need for strings, or Phil Spector style choirs. And Ringo, as always, supplies the perfect support for the song. Listen to his part and appreciate how he stays out of the way while giving tasty structural cymbal and brush work to the story the song paints. Yours is nice, but…I’ll stick with the original.
