  • Bhanjraru the headquarter of Churah tehsil is located 72 kms at west end of Chamba district.And Devikothi,the historical village of pargana Baira about 40 km northeast of Churah exists.There is a dense forest of deodar across the village.And below the village the famous temple of Chamunda Devi.
    The name of this village was Devikothi named after Chamunda Devi.In the local dialect this village is also called "Chaundi Ri Kothi".It is said that this village is settled by some Rana.
    Biarwali Chamunda is form of Sapt Durga.Says it was 7 Goddess sisters,which was established in different places.
    Elder sister bacame famous as Kali in Kolkata,second settled at Chatrari(Bharmour),third at Chamba town,fourth at Sandhi(Masroond),fifth at Bani (J&K),sixth at Mindhal(Pangi) and youngest Goddess became famous in the Kothi as Biarwali Chamunda.
    On the day of Biasakhi , thousand of devotees visit Devikothi to see Chamunda Devi.On the second day of Baisakhi ,Bairwali Chamunda goes to meet Chamunda Devi with her 16 peoples which is established in Chamba city.It is traditional tour of a one month.
