Thanks for the highlights, but I was really hoping to see more of the riders climbing the famous cobbled hills. I've already seen the crash and the sprint in so many other clips.
It's a shame we were all robbed of a finale with Alaphilippe, Van der Poel and Van Aerts. If Alaphilippe had jumped early in the final kilometre, the other two may have cancelled themselves out, not wanting to hand victory to the other. But having said that, Mathieu Van der Poel wanted it so much, he would still have won. He has the hunger of a hungry lion! A bit like his father Adri Van der Poel.
@@jnj3254 Hi ML Trends No disrespects to you but to help you in your written English I am giving you a preferred version. Since you are making a statement on a past event, you could have written the following. 'Julian would have been 3rd had he not crashed'. I understand your original comment though.
Espectacular sprint. Creo que en el accidente de Alaphilippe faltó algo de solidaridad de los de adelante para avisar sobre el obstáculo. Saludos desde Colombia
After reading all the twitter and other online responses i would have thought that motard ran into ala and not the other way around. now seeing this i ask honestly, isn't JA fully at fault himself here?
WVA was following the motobike till it has been stopped, then he made the move to avoid it at last. VDP avoid by short and Alaph who was talking on the radio without the left hand holding the bike did not manage. I do not know the rules but it is unfortunatly a chain of bad moves which most of the time, will never end wrong...
@@devidia I thought the guy who has more accolades during the race season should be up front catching all the wind so that the lesser accolade guy can draft to increase his chance of coming around for the sprint win?
Van der Poel has the better 50-100m - more explosive. ( Important in Cyclo Cross ) However longer sprints and with a higher starting speed I think Wout is faster. But of course I could be wrong
@@OttoVanluchene Not necessarily. Look up some MVDP's sprint compilations - he typically goes from really far out (250-300m) to get the jump on the rest of the field, especially in punchy uphill sprints (e.g. his European champs win, national champs win, Tour of Britain stage wins). He even said in an interview after one of his wins that he doesn't understand why sprinters leave it till 100-200m to go, and that he's better at the longer stuff. I think both of these guys are better at longer sprints than the typical sprinter given their cyclocross background (where every race starts with a 20-30s all out sprint), but I do agree that MVDP is more explosive which is why he won a sprint like this that started slower, while WvA probably has a higher sustained sprint power so would be better in sprints starting at higher speeds (like his TdF stage wins). WvA is definitely the much better climber though. His climbing in the TdF was insane for a guy his size.
Much better highlights than at Eurosport!
This was an amazing race!
Wish alalphilippe recovers well , great finish
Aye unfortunate for him. Glad MVP won still. If he was there I would have wanted Julian to win
Any news on his condition? My heart was physically hurting listening to him.

No, wva is a slightly better rider.
Both are splendid

What a crazy year!
They tried to do the whole season in just two months. From mid august to mid october.
A amazing Tour de Flanders..with a fenomenal finish sprint...260 km with all those climbs..to end with a difference with 1/4 of a wheel! Incredible!!!
The relieve at the end when it is becoming clear he won.....💪🏻🚴🏻♂️

the rule says that the motorcycles should be on the left of the road, nof on the right
ja couldnt see him tho; id say its not really anyones fault
