I have a new Blink door bell camera and a sync module 2. I have everything working and have a 64GB Flash drive and selected internal storage.selected....won't save nothing to USB drive. I've removed it reformated it with the link system and still saves nothing. When I re installed Software as well it does save clips to my trial online account but will not switch to local storage my USB...any ideas?
Do you know of a way to get the recorderd video clips to show the actual time the recording took place? The USB drive records in UTC time and is 5 hours off. I have tried changing the time zone but that doesn't work either.
Good video - I have a question, so that you don't have to have a subscription Is it possible to set up the system at an external address, and send data / recording home to my NAS server, in some way for example with a wifi dongle in the usb port, or can the sync module work with a wifi router. I had 1 camera already on subscription. I just got another doorbell camera along with a usb, I activated the additional camera and plugged in the usb to the module which it recognized but under the clips on the app it does not show the local storage option. Any advice?
I'm sure you restarted the sync module. If not, I would restart the module and if that doesn't work I would remove the sync module and add it back to the system. let me know how it goes.
I had a similar issue. Make sure you're USB is blank and install it to the slot. Make sure the app says that it's formatted and the "local storage" option is visible. Mine still didn't save my clips. It was only after I completely unplugged my Blink module for 10+ minutes and reset my Wi-Fi router that it finally worked.
Can you access local storage if not on your LAN? Say you're on vacation and want to review some footage, can you get to it? Looking to do this without a cloud plan myself but seems all reviews I've watched don't talk about this.
Yes look for nas options in your routers management site if you used cable modem or a service provider that doesn't use a static ip address you will need a ddns . Honestly if your not somewhat savvy with your networking software it may require some effort..find someone who knows it . Its fairly easy but some devices are harder than others
so with a sync module you can use a usb flash drive to store the video data on. i wonder if you could just use a usb cable and plug that into a pc and save the data to a hard drive that way

Maybe I missed something, but all cameras have a usb or microSD option that you can pull out and watch on your computer. They all have a cloud subscription service also to watch the recordings on your phone app. So how is this different?

Hi Scott according to another RUclipsr's review from a year ago, he claims that if you use local storage, the recording stops when you switch to Live View after the motion detector captures footage even though your setting to record might be longer. Is that true?

Buy 2 or 3 Blink Mini cams. Rotate connecting them to the module 2. Every 30 or so days, change to the next cam and delete the previous one. Cloud subscription without the annual fee....
I am so sorry about that. In the Blink application , go to your Sync Module > Local Storage and at the bottom there is a blue button that says “Safe Eject USB”. Click this and you’ll get a message saying USB Disconnected. You can now pull the drive and do whatever you need. I hope this helps.
It would be REALLY freak'en nice if you tell us how you are moving from screen to screen. But I'm sure you just ASSUMED anyone looking at the video for help is fully experienced.

That is what I would do.
With the blink local storage device does it record to the local storage at the same time as live view or does live view disable the recording?
Have 2 camers one for front door n one for wire for extra protection - but I can't view the storage on my tablet only the front door, have module 2
You may have to remove the sync module and add it back. I had to do this and the local storage works for me.

I think you have to subscribe to get all your cameras to record.

I'm sure you restarted the sync module. If not, I would restart the module and if that doesn't work I would remove the sync module and add it back to the system. let me know how it goes.

How long is the motion clip length parameter set for? Mine is set for 15 seconds and I get a 15 second clip.

Yes, you can view the the local storage clips in the Blink app. This is one of the features. That's what I have.

Got one of those "local storage" from Blink, used to save to it, but Amazon changed it a few months ago, making it useless without a plan...

For now, until Amazon changes it, yes you can. You just can not save any clips.
