I could easily ride a much bigger bike but as a 37 year old, I really can’t beat my 500X. It’s not quick, but it’s so good in so many ways. I also have a sportsbike:) can I just say how excellent it is that you show the sound comparisons a few times over and over, as it allows you to hear the difference. Excellent channel!
I'm a bit older than you, but after riding so many stupidly quick bikes, when I just want to pop out for a gentle ride, or go to the shops, the easy going non-fussy nature of the 500X make it the bike I keep taking out. It even did pretty well on my 2 day trip recently. Thanks for watching! :)

I fitted one of these To my 2022 X today with the intention of running it with the baffle out. Absolutely no need! This video doesn’t do the sound justice! In person with the baffle in it sounds absolutely amazing!! Way better than the stock can…. I finally have a nice beefy sound to match the way my bike looks…😊 if you’re on the fence about getting one just do it, you will not regret it.

Fuel Exhausts does a great job. Brings that 500 to life. I've one on my sv650 and it's great. The price being 100-300 less than the competition is a nice bonus.
Great video Dan…I put a FUEL end can on a VFR800 FiW (non V-tech) in June 2005! It made the bike sound even better..and lost a chunk of weight too. Proper handmade quality products and nice to see their business is thriving and still manufacturing in the fabulous Lake District. Ride safe and have fun!
My 2nd big bike was a 1998 VFR 800 in yellow. Mine had a Micron full system and it sounded incredible. Fuel are awesome though and very good value. Thanks for watching! Dan
Fuel - baffle in, does it best for me. I have a 2020 cb500fa with stock exhaust, and the sound does improve over time as the stock exhaust gets worn. I have 20.000km on the bike and it pops a lot more know than when it was new
You should give lessons on how to make a comparison video. They all do the same: “listen at this sound” without considering the difference between microphones and their positioning. This is the best video of his kind. EVER. Thank you!
I not long ago got a 22 cb500x in red and love it. Will be looking at exhausts sooner or later. It's hard to tell decibels in a video but I live how deep and racey that fuel pipe sounds with baffle out. Also greetings from Australia! G'day mate!

Spot on comparison , very well made. Fuel with baffle in is quieter when idle compared to stock one but have deeper lower sound while driving. Best solution
You did a great job showing and demonstrating the pipe. For me the less you hear from an in-line twin the better so I would not be a candidate for an exhaust but I do find the 22 500x an interesting bike. Probably better to spend the money on premium tires focused on the type of terrain your planning on riding. Dunlop Trailmax’s come to mind.
I watched this video in the knowledge that I'm thinking about buying a 500X. I was making very approving remarks regarding the sound of the Fuel exhaust system. My wife looked at me and said "don't event think about it". That's how I knew it sounded good 😂😂

I bought my SV with a Fuel exhaust already fitted and it sounds great. I had to add the db killer as it was a bit excessive, but still great. Almost bought one for the cbr500r I had but oncoming traffic saw I never got that far in mods
Fantastic video man. I'm currently riding a Kawasaki Vulcan S which has a pretty limited choice of exhausts. I have one from Delkevic, but it's honestly a bit crazy for me. Backfires so hard on decell it sounds like a shotgun going off, and I ride a lot in the city at night. Been eyeing up the 500X as an alternative since it looks amazing, supposedly rides well and sounds great with this. Are you happy with the baffle in sound? From your video I got the impression baffle is doesn't increase the volume much, but improves the tone? Also did it effect the smoothness of the throttle at all? I've heard the fuelling on this bike is really spot on and not snatchy, so it would be a shame to lose that.
Intresting that with the baffle out there is that weird bubbling suck back sound when you close the throttle, I have just fitted a GRmoto exhaust and it has virtually that same effect without the baffle, which I wasn't keen on so left it in 😊
Baffle in there is no noticeable difference but baffle out there is. My eyes were closed during the comparison and only noticed a change on the last test. Good video
In person there's a very noticeable difference, which is the issue with recording exhaust sounds. I've left it baffle in as it's the best sound for me. Baffle out was far too loud. Cheers.
There’s a huge difference in person with the baffle in, the video sound doesn’t do it justice. When I fitted mine and started it up I was grinning from ear to ear.

Then, I checked the Honda US website and discovered it's only going to be available in the Pearl Organic Green. I know it's popular in Europe, but I had my heart set on that Grand Prix Red. 😢

Nice one Dan like the bike ! the can is a good improvement both visually and for sound for me I think baffle in is the better sound . Without the baffle is a bit sort of hollow for me . : )
This is a proper review; thank you Dan ~ personally I won't bother with the upgrade. Hearing all the comparisons the stock is not so bad. BTW does the power feel better unbaffled?
My akrapovic exhaust is like half the weight of the old one. If I'm not mistaken the OEM exhaust is 4kg and the akrapovic is 2kg, so quite the weight savings.

For 95% of the people and bikes this is a purely aesthetic sound/looks questions. It definitely looks and sounds better with this exhaust, it also doesn't sound too loud or obnoxious without the baffle for everyone else around. If you like it go for it. If you want noticeable changes you can have the rear swing arm or wheels made in carbon fiber, frame in lighter alloys or generally what €100k SS bikes have to drop the weight by 20%. This isn't the bike for that, there is no need for that, and we should strive to be those people not disassembling the reflective plastic parts that might make a difference on an intersection with a distracted car driver rather than delude ourselves with a 250g or a 2kg weight saving on a road (adventure-y) bike...
Great video, short, snappy and to the point. The only poor part of the video was the exhaust. It made such a tiny difference in noise it was barely noticeable. Its an upgraded look, but that's not the purpose of a new exhaust unfortunately
HI Dan...i got a friend who wants to buy one for his bike but he has cases/panniers on the side and he's not sure it will fit cause of it....you got any advice for that?
All our exhausts for the CB500x will fit with the Honda panniers in place. We would recommend the MicroMini over the Mini if you want to fit with panniers. 🙂

Had a fuel exhaust on my old CBR600FX was awesome and great quality. A great exhaust well worth looking at whatever the model bike.
Installed an akrapovic exhaust on mine, and it sounds so much better then my old 2018 CB500X.

That's the thing about video, it can't really convey the true sound. With baffle in it's much louder than stock on idle.

Nice one Dan like the bike ! the can is a good improvement both visually and for sound for me I think baffle in is the better sound . Without the baffle is a bit sort of hollow for me . : )

Can you measure/compare weight of the stock and fuel exhaust? I like the stock cb500x sound so weight might be only reason for me to change it
My akrapovic exhaust is like half the weight of the old one. If I'm not mistaken the OEM exhaust is 4kg and the akrapovic is 2kg, so quite the weight savings.

For 95% of the people and bikes this is a purely aesthetic sound/looks questions. It definitely looks and sounds better with this exhaust, it also doesn't sound too loud or obnoxious without the baffle for everyone else around. If you like it go for it.
If you want noticeable changes you can have the rear swing arm or wheels made in carbon fiber, frame in lighter alloys or generally what €100k SS bikes have to drop the weight by 20%. This isn't the bike for that, there is no need for that, and we should strive to be those people not disassembling the reflective plastic parts that might make a difference on an intersection with a distracted car driver rather than delude ourselves with a 250g or a 2kg weight saving on a road (adventure-y) bike...
@@Valks-22 yeah, agree, exhaust on the very bottom of my mods list. I know for some ppl it's first upgrade, not for me :)

I have one too on my SV650. Just remove the cheap sticker and it looks much better

Great video, short, snappy and to the point. The only poor part of the video was the exhaust. It made such a tiny difference in noise it was barely noticeable. Its an upgraded look, but that's not the purpose of a new exhaust unfortunately
If you were to listen through big speakers you would hear a substantial difference that isn't apparent when listening via a tablet or phone.
I was wondering if you'll ever test the slightly cheaper alternative to this bike the benelli trk 502x.

HI Dan...i got a friend who wants to buy one for his bike but he has cases/panniers on the side and he's not sure it will fit cause of it....you got any advice for that?
All our exhausts for the CB500x will fit with the Honda panniers in place. We would recommend the MicroMini over the Mini if you want to fit with panniers. 🙂
