- A Prayer for the Lenten Season
Lord Jesus Christ, as we begin this holy season of Lent,
we ask for your grace and mercy to guide us on our way.
You have called us to repentance, to fasting, to prayer,
and to works of love and charity.
Help us to follow your example and to grow in holiness.
Lord, you have shown us the power of your love
by giving your life for us on the cross.
You have taken away our sins and given us new life.
Teach us to forgive as you have forgiven us,
and to seek reconciliation with those we have hurt.
Lord, you have taught us to pray and to trust in your will.
You have given us the gift of your Spirit and your word.
Help us to deepen our relationship with you and to listen to your voice.
May we always seek your kingdom and your glory.
Lord, you have fasted for forty days in the desert,
and you have overcome the temptations of the evil one.
You have shown us the value of self-denial and discipline.
Help us to fast from what is harmful and to feast on what is good.
May we always hunger and thirst for your righteousness.
Lord, you have performed many works of mercy and compassion,
and you have healed the sick and the oppressed.
You have shown us the way of service and generosity.
Help us to do good to all people, especially the poor and the needy.
May we always be your hands and feet in the world.
Lord Jesus Christ, we thank you for this season of grace and renewal.
We ask you to bless us and our loved ones during this Lenten journey.
May we always walk with you and follow you to the end.
We ask this in your name, who lives and reigns with the Father and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.
