Loved doing this last year when my wife and I were on holiday, I always try and travel by rail when in Germany and I purchase a ticket for unlimited rail travel for the area I'm staying in and if you get the right one you can use it on the trams as well, superb travel system I love it and the sky train was on my bucket list so got it chalked off and we did it from the airport and a week later did the return leg
Denver should have invested in this kind of sky-train to their airport to down town transit services instead of the unreliable ground based rail line that is too expensive, to ride or run
Where is the Skytrain located from arrivals? Do you buy a ticket to your final destination before you board or do you have to buy a ticket for Skytrain and then another for your train journey when you arrive at train station? Thanks
If you buy a NRW-ticket or VRR-ticket, the skytrain js included. Otherwise you have to buy an additional ticket for the skytrain ride besides from your regular train tickets. I only know the station and the skytrain, i don't really now the airport, sorry
Im Terminal there are two SkyTrain stations (A/B and C), located by McDonalds (C) and the car rental counters (A/B). Follow the signs to the next SkyTrain station. The stations are connected by elevators, esculators and stairs (Level 3). In every Station are Ticket Maschine. On the ticket Maschine you can buy Tickets to the finally station if this located in VRR or north of VRS (Cologne) and travel wirh local/regional trains. You can also buy the ticket in the DB Navigator App.

Made in Germany! But if I think in the beginning of this Projekt- started in November 1996 -I came from Dusseldorf- so many failures are in theese concept. The oficial start was the 1.Juli 2001. Siemens need over 6 years to fix the problems to made it available for costumers. But this was not the end- sometimes the sky train stopped during the drive. The passengers must be evacuate by a Firebrigade! And manny safety problems must be fixed! A meanwhile bill of 150 Million € cost this Projekt and Siemens overtake the guarantee over 25years. The next is- From Airport Dusseldorf build a terasse to the Ehebition Center Messe Dusseldorf! But this is not ratetet through the citi paralment! So- for example- The Transrapid- also a technical development from Siemens - the greatest Flop ever in Germany.Only one Transrapid in China exist. Yes- so many technical wonder- and now my question: So many Ingineurs faild in Germany- is it a wonder the USA produced The Projekt WINDOWS? Where are the brains in Germany? (Some source are from Wikepediea DE)
little known fun fact regarding this train: It was made by Siemens - and as the Düsseldorf Airport is a private company (kinda rare btw., but has its perks), they set quite some harsh contract fees for this kind of failures and delays. In the end, the penalties Siemens had to pay over the 6 years fixing the train were so high, the airport was able to get the train virtually for free.

Could you hear that buzzing sound from the traction motors or is that induction noise in the microphone from the motors?
yes, those are the traction motors.
I love that what appears to be a dirt/track running under the line has reflectors alongside it.
Einfach nur Klasse :) Danke Dir

This is a completely autonomous train and it's free to ride, you don't need a ticket.

Lol in my country we don't even have a simple train.
Paraguay don't have one.
In Wuppertal war ich als Kind mit der Schwebebahn mal mit gefahren. War ganz interessant gewesen. Erinnert auch an Half-Life. 🙂

Das System in Wuppertal ist bedeutend älter. Von dem alten System wie Wuppertal gibt es auch noch eine kurze Strecke in Dresden.
