7:52 the reason why the third reissue tiga isnt as mobile as the first and second release is because it uses a different material. The first release had a crazy paint rub issue though, from what I heard its because the paint didnt get enough time to cure. Theres also multiple cases of the material on the first relase tearing and cracking. I owned the first release and third, and its night and day between the two. hope this helps!
Okay, for one, I am happy to see you reviewing an S.H.Figuarts Ultraman as I do regularly keep up with this sub-line. I actually did buy the first release of Shinkocchou Seihou Tiga way back in 2021, so I do have a lot of information I can share about that release. (I never did get the reissue from 2022 so I can't say too much about that version). Now related to Shinkocchou Seihou Ultraman Tiga (Multi-Type). There were a lot of growing pains the original release had that thankfully have been improved upon with this reissue. For starters(something really cool with the initial release) you actually got a little manual that goes over the design process of the figure. It does state that they did base the figure (and all subsequent Shinkocchou Seihou Ultraman releases) on a 3-D scan of their respective original suit actors. Tiga, Dyna, and Gaia all share a suit actor in Shunsuke Gondo, so all three were modeled off a scan of his body. That, in addition to Tsuburaya Productions' modeling company closely monitoring the development of the line as a whole, is why these figures come out looking as accurate as they do. Now for the plastic used in these figures. Tiga's original release was marketed using a different type of plastic in the torso, abdomen, and waist. Instead of using PVC or ABS, the figure used TPE in those specific areas. This in tandem with the joint system implemented in the abdomen allowed the figure to crunch as far as it could in the picture shown at 7:52 mark. However the issues the original release had with this TPE plastic was it eventually cracking in the abdomen with prolonged use. And what most people have stated here which is paint chipping in the chest. There was a theory that the original release was rushed out before the paint was able to cure to the body. But in my experience, the paint still chips even though I barely have messed with mine. Now with the second release in the line, being Tiga Power-Type, the figure was original going to use TPE in the same areas, but the backlash from the original Tiga (referred to as Multi-Type) resulted in them swapping it out with ABS plastic. This has carried over to every release going forward. As for this reissue, yes I do believe the TPE was swapped out for ABS, although I am not too sure myself. But comparing the feel of tge plastic between the two, the 2023 reissue feels much better. This ended up going on for a lot longer than I expected, but I really did want to give as much information as I could. I'd be happy to give more if you'd like.
I have the second release of this figure. Fortunately didn't have any of the QC issues that came with the original release. Tiga is my favorite Ultraman, very happy to own this. Glad you're doing more Ultraman reviews. Dyna and Gaia go with Tiga. You can watch most subtitled Ultraman on Tubi, including Tiga, Dyna and Gaia (TDG).
My favorite is either Ultraman Jack or the OG Ultraman. The special camera angles and miniature models are the best in the old Ultraman series, and the stories are like sci-fi that reflect real-world issues.
That figure does look nice. I have the Ultraman Z Alpha Edge figure, the metalic one. It looks great! Limited torso but very good otherwise. Would recomend.
Tiga really has a very refined "modern" look of the classic Ultraman. I definitely would lean to the originals like Ultraman, Ultra Seven, and Ace but when comparing Tiga to them, I would say that he has a more refined look, at least for me.
I'm not surprised to see that this figure is good, the Seihou release of the original Ultraman is probably my favorite Figuarts figure, full stop. I'm sure I'll want to track this down whenever I get to watching Tiga.
Yeah, your packaging matches up with the version you have. The easiest way to tell is via the stickers on the box. The original release has the giant "SEAL OF QUALITY" on the front lol. Yours is the smaller sticker.
Figuarts are my main collection and i adore the ShinSei line basically every release looks like a shrunk down version of the actual suits. articulation is often secondary to the sculpt unfortunately but they often move well enough to do iconic poses. Ultraman is relatively new to ShinSei so there is still room for them to improve especially the necks, Kamen Rider and now Sentai characters in this subline have double ball peg necks and they work so much better and they usually have bigger bulkier helmets. I do want to say when you get Dyna be careful with the effect part because its not a swappable forearm its all attached to a swappable hand and its the first SHF wrist peg that broke on me in about 10 years right out of the box.
You should watch ultraman the next-nexus (connected) for darker theme and memorable storyline. Shin Ultraman is a remake of the first Ultraman series written by Evangelion Creator for a more serious plot and sci fi. Tiga, Dyna and Gaia are great starts too. If you're looking for newer ones, you might want to start with Blazar.
Yes, you pronunce it correctly, it's "Tiga". not "Taiga" or "Tyga", i know cause i watched it when i was young. Please if you could, do the review of Dyna and Gaia. Keep up the good work Anthony.
Great review! Glad you didn't get the first release of this figure, otherwise the score would've been completely different lmao. Definitely looking forward to your reviews of Dyna and Gaia! Will you be reviewing Gaia's Effect Part Set as well, or just the figure? My favorite Ultraman series so far is tied between Tiga and Z, honestly. Both are really good! I'd highly recommend watching Ultraman Z at some point, you can find it officially subbed on RUclips.
Regarding the QC issues with seiho Tiga, the original release of the figure was super prone to paint rubbing off the rubber chest piece on top of the rubber also cracking kinda easily. I’m not sure how well the re-releases hold up but I’m gonna assume they’re better. Bandai seems to have an issue implementing this “soft rubbery piece covering major joint system”. They had trouble with imagination works Goku, their seiho Kamen Rider Black had a rubber piece covering the entire shoulder joint in order to get a more seamless look & that was prone to cracking, & now the stuff with Tiga.
i have the first release and it's as good as it was the day i got it. i probably just got lucky on my copy. but i know there were some issues with the first release like the cracking of rubber parts and paint. and some even have issues with the elbows breaking. i guess it's just a QC issue of some batches. and some people were just unlucky to received faulty products. it would also help not to play too hard with the rubber parts. it might result to cracking the rubber part on the abs on my copy can bend but i don't want to force it. i'm afraid i might break mine if i did. my only gripe with this figure is the one you mentioned on the ankle. that nub was really weird but i can live with it. you might also want to check the sh figuarts shinkocchou seihou ultraman ( 1966 ) though i'm not sure if you will like how the shoulder looks. more power to you!
OG Ultraman for me. Maybe I'm just biased, but I just like the solo Ultraman, the team thing reminds me too much of Power Rangers and Kamen Rider. If y'all didn't know, there are Ultraman marathons shown on RUclips for free, and Godzilla and Kungfu flicks. It's so weird the choices companies make when designating their figures, like that lip on the bottom that limits the foot articulation.
I love the shinkoucho seihou line. The kamen rider offerings are great and its one of the few no window boxes I actually like. Though they do have a very tech product look. I got ribut after your review and Blazar but both are the normal shf type. I havent taken the dive on the shows yet, so Im just buying based on overall look and my shelf, and what vague memories i have from a kid. But the Ultraman YT has a lot of seasons for free. Tiga Im not sure on, its a lot of blue where everyone Ive got so far is red dominant. Im glad you did a review because Id have had no clue on the soft ab change, I really wish that information was more clearly documented. Though that type of material worries me for durability and longevity. Id rather everything be hard and long lasting with just that accounted for in the engineering.
The way to tell which reissue you have is by finding the licensing text on the figure and then checking the dots next to it. Looks something like this. . . . . For every dot removed that is the reissue, so this figure would have 3 dots removed for instance. I give credit to Stevens toy reviews for this information and if i was mistaken go watch his video on his channel on the subject.
favorite ultraman story is ultraman blazar, imo. The design is my least favorite but the story for blazar is incredible. Tiga was my introduction to ultraman so its nostalgic for me, thanks for the review
Mine is Ultraman Orb, but Tiga is very important in Japan. The show was released after Japan suffered a terrorist attack with gas and Tiga helped the people recover from the sadness of that event. He's considered a hero for the japanese people.
Great review! It’s cool that you’re finally taking a look at the seihou line since I feel it contains some the most top tier figuart releases. By the way have you considered reviewing some Kamen Rider figuarts? I’d recommend the Geats line if possible, really solid overall. Either way I’m looking forward to your future reviews.
I know you're not a playstation guy but spin master released pretty cool figures from playstation exclusives games. It would be cool if you reviewed them, I specially like the Aloy figure
I’m more of a sentai and kamen rider guy so I haven’t seen a lot of Ultraman but my favorite is probably Ultraman zero. I do want to check out tiga though along with mebius and nexus. Btw it’d be cool to see you review some kamen rider seihous too.
I love this figure. I like the power type figure more for Tiga, I think they did a better job on that one. But the seihou original ultraman is still the best one they've done imo
I own the first version of this guy and the only qc i have is one buterfly joint stuck, the ab crunch works much better, is a great figure but i think the ss. Kamen Riders are much better
I got a whole collection of Figuarts Ultraman and I’m a huge fan of Ultraman so let me know which figure are u getting. By the way, I got my Seihou Tiga on the first release and my ab crunch can go far down, but I don’t do that cause it might damage the paint
LOL he probably does since I and others posted yesterday about it already. We watch dozens of reviewers that have different opinions on YT and we don't get brain washed if we have half a brain to think for ourselves. Dude's so triggered for no reason and out creating drama.
@chewymew Anthony's right about the articulation for sure. He's the reason I don't buy marvel legends! Knowing how much better they could be is enough to keep me away.
@@coltonrobinette6412 The funny thing is that Anthony has been scoring some of the recent MLs pretty high too. From 7s to 8.5/9s. It's not like he's hating on ML that hard. But Shart can't even take a few criticisms about articulation and had to go show the rest of us how "wrong" Anthony is LOL

@@Alkahfadhli Cool! I only got the Netflix ones that looked better aesthetically to me but had minimal articulation.
