When you are Berlin, don't forget to check out the several Christmas markets of the city. The most beautiful and atmospheric ones are the Christmas markets in the courtcard of the enchanting Charlottenburg Palace and the one on the gorgeous Gendarmenmarkt (if there is still construction ongoing like last year this Christmas market moves to Bebelplatz instead, which is an equally as gorgeous location.)
There are other, bigger Christmas markets in the city, like at Alexanderplatz or Breitscheidplatz, but those are honestly not very atmospheric, they are overrun and feel much more commercial and exchangeable.

I am from Prague, born and raised, so maybe I am.biased but Prague is absolutely magical during Christmas,.and the Christmas market at Old Town Square is probably the most beautiful one I've seen.

The Old Town Square is probably the most beautiful at night. Parizska street, one of the streets leading up to it, is particularly gorgeous with Christmas lights. If you want to have Charles Bridge almost to yourselves, go at sunrise! The Prague Castle compound is worth visiting, and it also has a couple of Christmas trees and small markets. The Golden Lane at the castle is super neat but otherwise I would probably skip going inside the Castle and head to the Strahov Monastery instead and see their library, it's on the list of most beautiful libraries in the world. Then I would take Nerudova street to go downtown Prague. The Jewish museum is excellent, especially the Old New Synagogue and the Jewish Cemetery, both have a few cool legends connected to it. For me two hidden gems in Prague are the Vrtbovska Garden and Gardens below the Prague Castle, but I believe both are closed in the winter. As far as restaurants, U Fleku is a famous one, and I believe it's in the 1000 places book. My favorite Czech dish is the duck with red sourkraut and potato dumplings, so delicious. Hope this helps!

Been there Matt and Nat, done that! My Mama was German and we used to have a ball! She was from Berlin, my Aunt lives in Bonn. We went to Germany a lot, almost every weekend when we were stationed in France. I loved the holiday time there, otherwise I didn't like it at all, I was to homesick for America.
