That's always been annoying me. I wanted to kill an enemy stealthily in my armored Kuruma and then I was spotted because I kept forgetting about it! I've now resorted to... different tactics.
My best guess as to why this is so that the gun doesn’t cause any clipping issues kinda like when they automatically remove a helmet or shrink a mask when you enter a car for the same reasons but this is just a guess.

Rockstar, pls fix.
Rockstar and Take-Two dosen’t care about the Single Player mode, they just care about the Online mode
Such incompetent developers, this fix would take less than 10 minutes to implement.

It's probably removed because it would merge with cars interiors in 1st person. And it does still work despite the sound and looks
