"Old hot-rodding guys" and "purists" are two totally different breeds. Hot rodders get it and started playing the game since the 1920's. The purists on the other hand prefer to go to car dealerships and gawk at the stuff on the lot.
He’s absolutely right about the spirit of hot rodding. My grand father’s first 2 cars were rusted t bucket fords he cobbled together out of the junk yards to make one Hot rod. Built his first Harley the same way.

So true, by all means we should protect the good condition originals, where they've been loved consistently over the years to not require major restoration, but if it's a choice between a rust bucket being sold for scrap value or being modified like this, I'll take this every time.
