Just formed the Roman Empire in my 7th attempt right now. As Bitt3rSteel stated in previous comments below, the strategy has changed slightly due to some updates since this video was posted. Here is how I formed the Roman Empire by early 1940: 1. Immediately after I finished the war with Ethiopia, I joined the Axis. This is because my previous attempts at encircling the French Army at the Alps ended up annihilating my Italian forces at the border. I joined the Axis in mid-1936 so that I could use the port at Hamburg to launch a Naval Invasion on France's northern shore with my tanks (I still kept an army down in the Alps to distract the French). Just before my tanks arrived on the shore, I fired off my paratroopers who struck in Paris and the surrounding tiles. I capitulated France within six days after the war declaration. 2. However, for some reason, the UK was guaranteeing the independence of France, even though world tension was below 25%. Even so, I reorganized my troops at Hamburg and naval invaded Hull while launching my paratroopers in the Midlands. At the same time, I declared war on Austria first, and then Yugoslavia. However, I forgot about the recent updates where Romania and Czechoslovakia were guaranteeing Yugoslavia's independence. Before I capitulated the UK's last victory point, I sent my paratroopers down near the Naples airbase to land in some Yugoslav tiles so I could get them in the peace deal. However, I forgot to reserve one paratrooper unit to land in Romania, thus allowing them to escape this peace deal. This caused Romania and Czechoslovakia to become the next leaders of the Allies instead of Canada. 3. I decided to deal with Bulgaria next before they joined the Axis. The Czechs and the Romanians guaranteed their independence, so that extended my frontlines significantly and as a result my troops couldn't breach their defenses. I took a gamble and decided to call in Germany for help. Luckily, my warscore was slightly above Germany's so at the peace deal, I grabbed the Roman cores in Romania and Bulgaria while letting Germany eat the rest. 4. Canada was the next leader of the Allies, so I followed the video above for the most part until I got to Turkey. I had puppeted the UK previously, which caused them to guarantee the independence of the Turks due to new mechanics from the Bosphorus DLC. This created an issue since when a fellow faction member is guaranteeing the independence of a nation you're trying to justify against, it significantly increases the justification time for a wargoal (for Fascist nations, the justification time is increased from 15 days to 300 days). Because of the long wait, I decided to deal with Portugal and Spain first (their justification times were 80 days each while my Turkish justification was still ongoing). 5. For some reason, I capitulated Canada before my troops reached Vancouver (they were around Edmonton at the farthest). As a result, I was not able to get Turkey on the peace deal since my justification still had a month left. I declared war on them after, which caused them to join the Chinese United Front, thus causing me to divert my troops and help the Japanese capitulate China before the US joined (I did not want to risk the US joining their faction). 6. Despite some surprises and hiccups, I managed to reforge the Imperium Romanum. Hopefully, things go well for the next four years before a I drop a nuke on Los Angeles.
Yooo thank you so much, I am new to this game and I failed about 6 times using various methods and yours was the one that finally worked, good looks my guy
Love your videos, the cutting with the music the speed up wars... just a pleasure to watch and always a motivation to try yourself. Would you like to make a turorial to occupy Moskau with France? I did it a few weeks ago and would like to see how you do it :)
I asked for this and already did it the other day XD but this is cool anyway ended up owning all of china due to japan attaching me over Vietnam had Uk, France, Japan, Germany and Canada as puppets which i annexed and got a huge navy for it and finally did the Duce nuke them achievement but still somehow lost 4mil to USA when I invaded from canada
Wow are you me? Just lost 5 million attacking the US from Canada in a game yesterday, eventually started carpet nuking their troops plus thousands of CAS and tons of heavy tanks and still couldn't break through. Late game USA is a fucking monster.
I'll definitely have to retry this, I got strikes really early into the war and then when I made my line to surround savoy I didn't have enough guns to keep the line held
So this one is an interesting request, but could you do the Bevrijding achievement? There's no rush to this as I'm being deployed and won't have access to anything game or internet related, but when I get back it would be dope to give it a try and if not just have a cool video to watch. :)
Hah, what timing. Just yesterday, before bed I was thinking about another possible playthrough in HoI IV, well it happened to be "Italy forms Rome" and guess what appears in the sub-box
Love your video! Like the detail in explanation and the small edits here and there, they really add some flavor 👌🏻 Can't wait to check out more of your content.
@@rolay504 Finally managed to do it today. I worked my way through the focus tree and got a wargoal on france that way and after building up my army, sent the naval invasions over first and paratroopers straight after, trapped the savoy pocket and killed half their army, then pushed north and finished them off by november 1937. They didn’t join the UK either as it was ahistorical.
@@rolay504 No, I did claims on yugoslavia. But i’ve actually found an easier strategy for conquering france, which is to join the axis and use the german port to invade into the north and capitulate them quickly
True, the only Italy achievement is “Duce nuked ‘em” where you have to nuke Los Angeles and fascist Italy. That’s bs. They should put achivements like “restore the Roman Empire”, “conquer Gibraltar, Malta and Suez”, that would make sense
@@sfogliatelle278 I actually nuked San Diego as Italy and got the achievement anyway. It's also ridiculous how Italy cannot even truly core the basically 100 percent provinces like Corsica and Malta, and how Zara recently is no longer a core for Italy. Well, at least there are mods and cheats that allow things to be more realistic.
@@sfogliatelle278 it's just so ridiculous that places like the Sudetenland under Czech rule are totally cored and there is no unrest there, but somehow there is in Italian zara and Corsica lol and no discord in French occupied Corsica, no troubles in Dalmatia and croat parts of Yugoslavia, etc.
I just had a go at it without watching the guide. Man, Italy was hard for me. Felt like I needed to have so many things but no way to fulfil any of them. I needed a fleet to contest the med, a decent air force, and of course decent troops. Ended up getting my butt kicked in Africa once the war started, but funnily enough I wiped the floor with the British navy in the Med with only the starting ships+the ones that start in the production queue. Air power helped.
I enjoyed this video a lot. I don’t know if you like using game exploits, by what I could see in this video you don’t, but if you do I’d recommend getting a free anexation of France vía espionage. Build a collaboration government that reduces their capitulation by 50%. They have a national spirit that reduces it a further 50% so the second you declare on them, providing you have the collaboration government of course, they will capitulate because they’ll immediately reach their capitulation threshold. Good video
I think something changed between the video and today. Biggest difference is that UK declares war on me as soon as I declare war on France. Second is that now the AI does not keep suiciding trying to take the montains. Third is that there is no way for me to naval invade as they keep a gigantic fleet keeping me from doing it. And after I capture france there is no deal. I cant select the africa to keep. Maybe that's because I faction with germany and UK declared war.
For air, don't do anything untill you are ready to paradrop. France will only put it planes over central Italy, unless you provoke them with your on planes. So only use your planes the second you want to paradrop. The AI will counter but you should have a few moments of superiority. For the navy, make sure all ships are in ports bordering the relevant sea zone and set them to naval invasion support. Your navy should be powerful enough, but the ship's don't add superiority of they aren't in the right sea zone
When I tried to use your strat, I couldn't train any Paratroopers because I already hit the special forces limit with my mountain troops. Was there and update between July and now that nerfed it even further? Also UK guarantees France pretty early on.
The paratroopers cap can be moved upward by making the divisions smaller. The guarantees are WT related, so if WT stays low, UK cannot guarantee. The order of focusses France takes is fixed, on historic. So they always join the allies at the exact same time (barring AI nonsense)
@@Bitt3rSteel Hey sorry to bother, I been trying to do this over and over with the strat. Rewatching the video, as soon as my paratroopers are behind them the rest of their armies come south and my army behind them via naval invasion and paratroopers arent able to break that line. I try to stop the ones on the italian front from repositioning but it wont let me because they are attacking me while one or two divisions move away. Eventually the line crumbles and I lose all ive gained, if i some how manage to hold the line I can't push further and they call in the UK around end of 1937. Do you have any tips? Even when they lost a lot of man power my troops are still struggling to break their line.
Slow it all down and manually move units. Use fast redeployment orders to close the distance, last stand orders to keep units in the fight while reinforcemens are on the way. Start your own pinning attacks to keep the enemy from peeling of the alpine line, so you can move your won troops relatively freely to reinforce the paratroopers.
Keep doing the setups off screen, your summary is very clear, and easier to follow like this, since you're not moving your mouse and wildly clicking through the area
So I do something a bit different. I rush Ethiopia Albania and Yugoslavia dead by 37. Its not hard it just needs some blitzing. I’d say if your up to it build a bunch of infantry and tanks and prepare to blitz yugo. Send units to all 3 fronts and kill as fast as you can. Leave troops on the French border so u don’t die then bring ur units back to France. Then you want to paratroop (or naval invade) behind France. (Personally I like paradroping bourdoux and send an army to it so open a second front). Rush to the nearest border preferably Swiss border and the French will freak out and you can push with your tanks from the border. At that point your able to do pretty much whatever you want. (I rush Greece and romania(
Hmmm... some really good advice on here. I really like the idea of skipping Ethiopian War Logistics, since some Infrastructure and Naval Bases there can be ignored. Also, paradrops this early is a really nice idea. However, I've been mostly playing as Italy lately (also going communist because why not and quill18 gave that idea), and I kill France differently. 1. Definitely need to do at least two rounds of Collab government. It's a huge territory that will give a big boost to production and manpower if compliance is high right away. Typically everything ends up being timed so that two rounds of Collaborator government is done (each round gives me 45% compliance in case of France), and French cypher is decrypted. Then Coordinated strike to help the invasion. 2. Instead of simply Justifying on France, I go the Focus Tree route. It does require at least 350 days, but since I'm trying to do Collab government, it's fine. Meanwhile, I try to snag Austria and Hungary, and help the Nationalist Spain so I can demand Balearics Later. Doing a war with Austria and Hungary gives enough MilExp for unit adjustments without needing to drag out Ethiopian war (bring over tanks, punch on the East side and to Addis Abeba, and war can be done by mid-February). 3. When invading France, the whole Fall of Paris event is suuuuper helpful. Naval invasion lands fastest units (for example 3 tanks, cavalry, and infantry to bring up to maximum of 10 divisions) and they fan out, trying to take multiple roads to Paris. Typically the war is over in a month. That paradrop idea would make it even easier. Fully collaborated France plus its colonies would make life so much easier... Although I did find out the hard way, that when you switch government type, all acquired compliance in non-cores is cut in half. So in my case, I needed to switch to communism before I invaded... Because prepared collaboration is NOT halved :)
I tried to replicate this and it's been going pretty well for the most part, except for the fact Britain decided to guarantee France while I was still justifying on them in my game, a few days after the Spanish Civil War started and both sides had volunteers sent to them. How common of a problem would you say this is considering all the RNG that goes along with this? Also, is there any way to keep world tension from getting high enough for the UK to do this, despite the obvious need to justify war on France and the fact Germany will do the Rhineland (which combined bring world tension very close to 25%)? Apart from this, I really liked the thoroughness of your guide. Keep up the great work
Well, you could Speed up the justification by not taking a focus untill you have 47pp.nother than that, you could delay the capitulation of Ethiopia. That's about it really
i love this run that whenever i am bored i just form the roman empire again with the added lands that the past roman emperor wants (parthia and caucasus if im not mistaken)

@@operationmeh nukes are useless
you're honestly one of the most underrated hoi4 youtubers imo
Keep up the good work.
I appreciate that!
I'll definitely have to retry this, I got strikes really early into the war and then when I made my line to surround savoy I didn't have enough guns to keep the line held
Me too :(
Ask some guns to Germans
Germany (gets out of bed) : I think I'll do the Anschluss today.
Italy : Sorry Germany,that ain't happening.
So this one is an interesting request, but could you do the Bevrijding achievement? There's no rush to this as I'm being deployed and won't have access to anything game or internet related, but when I get back it would be dope to give it a try and if not just have a cool video to watch. :)
It's one I still need to do myself, actually. I'd very much like to be able to offer you a clear and concise guide by the time you get back!
Hah, what timing.
Just yesterday, before bed I was thinking about another possible playthrough in HoI IV, well it happened to be "Italy forms Rome" and guess what appears in the sub-box
Ty soo much i just found ur channel it’s on of the best hio 4 channel keep the good work
This is the first video i saw of your and i really like it, keep going
Love your video!
Like the detail in explanation and the small edits here and there, they really add some flavor 👌🏻
Can't wait to check out more of your content.
Great video again, are you planning to do a world conquest at some point?
Nice vid!
Conquering france early game as italy is very hard, ive been trying to do it for a while.
Ive also been trying this tactic and successfully containing the savoy pocket is the hardest for me. My paratroopers allways get crushed
@@josephlangmead8254 awesome, when you say that you used the focus tree did you befriend yugoslavia and then italy first?
@@rolay504 No, I did claims on yugoslavia. But i’ve actually found an easier strategy for conquering france, which is to join the axis and use the german port to invade into the north and capitulate them quickly
Fantastic job on the video steel, ultra informative, considering having a go at this myself now
Super cool bro^^
this is one of the best hoi4 channels! keep it up.
fresh new HOI4 content ... i like it
keep it up
Thanks man, I appreciate the support!
Great vid as always! Would love to see some SU gameplay :)

NICE
Try to form the EU as quickly as possible next. Keep up your awesome work man👍🏻😁
i like it when you show what your doing it make it easier to understand
Excelent video, but why in 11:37 it said "no division" and then "5 divisions" How did you changed that?
He assigned 5 divisions to the naval invasion
Hey man, amazing work! Subbed. Could you please do a South Africa play through? Maybe annex or control the entire continent. Thanks!
Ya hear that Doyle? The Italians are actually putting up a fight!
It's disappointing that there isn't an achievement for doing this or for forming the HRE and several other nations, empires, etc.
@@josephrichter2104 yes, there should be a claim on Dalmatia from the start of the game and I hope Italy will get an update next
@@josephrichter2104 true, or also some Greek islands that were under the Venetian rule for centuries
The most neglected challenge in HOI4 ever :(
Nice guide! I'll definitely try
*Very nice, hello from Brasil*
Hello! I'm glad you liked it!
Great video man!
Glad you liked it!
"italian raj"
subbed.
I have always had trouble getting naval and air supremacy for this guide, do you have any tips for getting supremacy?
For air, don't do anything untill you are ready to paradrop. France will only put it planes over central Italy, unless you provoke them with your on planes. So only use your planes the second you want to paradrop. The AI will counter but you should have a few moments of superiority.
For the navy, make sure all ships are in ports bordering the relevant sea zone and set them to naval invasion support. Your navy should be powerful enough, but the ship's don't add superiority of they aren't in the right sea zone
@@Bitt3rSteel ok thanks so much!!
@@Bitt3rSteel Thank you for replying. You make excellent videos!
Thanks, I hope it helps!
My prayers have been answered, thank you
Keep doing the setups off screen, your summary is very clear, and easier to follow like this, since you're not moving your mouse and wildly clicking through the area
>Love of Pasta
Historically, he tried to abolish Pasta and wanted the Italians to eat Rice instead.
I just imagine somebody doing this in a multiplayer by 1939 and as soon as they form Rome they just say “alr ready to start the game?”
Just subbed , great video and great empire 10/10
I miss this kind of videos, details everywhere
(I rush Greece and romania(
you forgot to but , in between Ethiopia and Albina
Great job mate, i want to see you try this in No Step Back.
How are you able to train paratroopers while you have 5 divisions of mountaneers? If I try to I have a limit and cant train them
Iirc, I got rid of the mountaineers.
@@Bitt3rSteel thank you very much😊👍
How do you create a frontline on your released nations when they are released? Referring to the beginning
Nice vid mate, hope u play as romania some day
It would be pretty epic to see a Luxembourg world conquest guide
Hmmm... some really good advice on here.
This strategy still works!!!
You can just liberate ethiopia W/o taking any land, it decreases WT
France won’t attack me for some reason
i love this run that whenever i am bored i just form the roman empire again with the added lands that the past roman emperor wants (parthia and caucasus if im not mistaken)
How u got naval superiority that Fast?
I have 500+ hours and I still can’t figure out paratroopers.
@Bitt3rSteel I have to admit mate, as a NOOB to this game I really do prefer the step by step guides....I would love to see all of the off camera stuff, is there another video possibly?
