Just wanted to say thanks, I saw this and put one together with some spare parts, and it’s a nice little addition to my system! I found it adds a slight track-and-hold-type flavor to CV signals, too. Thanks for posting this!
VERY NICE INNOVATION!! An all in one little extension and it will serve as a sort of ‘auto AR envelope’??! I don’t know whether you’ve ever heard of Razmasynth? They came up with an idea called the ‘super warp generator’ I think? The whole idea is that there’s a tiny IC inside of these particular LEDs that flash to different colors, they use an RGB LED that’s of a specific type with two leads that cycle through the different colors. They treat it like a sort of oscillator or gate snapper thingy, AND it’s passive!! No reason why I shouldn’t have a few of a simple passive project like this. I Wonder, what it might sound like to take a copy of a MIDI stream from a MIDI through box, slow it down, and use the MIDI data as a gate pattern, or an LFO in this sort of manner?! Being tapped out like a Morse code message on a drum module!! THANKS AGAIN!!!
I love how the music makes the tutorial mysterious. I loved both the video and the music. Thanks!

so inspiring
Sound snappy enough for me just like that. Thanks!
nice! keep em up!!
hopefully you post a picture guide like on the No1 :D

you're right, i did it here : ruclips.net/video/y8E7dP9GGC0/видео.html
If there's no CV coming in there's no sound at all? Or just no modulation?
Yes, no sound at all. The cv input needs a minimum of voltage like 2/3 v to power the led to open the sound path thru the LDR of the vactrol.
Can you make a filter video? Loving these 🙂
i did a HP filter here, but you can adapt this one in a LPF configuration easily : ruclips.net/video/2OfuVoI8r9Y/видео.html
keep it up bro
Does it make any difference if you drip a bit of glue inside the vactrol or not? Really cool series you've got going by the way.
it just helps LDR&LED staying tight together while working with hotgun
