Semi related safety tip: with all the rioting and unrest going on, if youre approaching a road block or rioting happening in the street, make sure you keep the bottom of the back tires visible on the car in front of you just in case you need to turn around and avoid the situation. Its an age old driving safety tip for everyday driving but with today's polarized world its definitely worth more now to apply it than ever. We rolled up onto a blocked roadway and thankfully stopped with plenty of visibility and space between us and the car in front of us, we were able to turn around and detour our route with no fuss and well before the crowd reached our vehicle.

I'd add some sort of Commo. Say you have to leave your Vehicle and Hole Up somewhere, like during the Vegas Massacre a few years back. You'd want to stay on top of the situation as much as possible. So even a cheap Radio could help, especially if the Cell Phones get jammed up in the area. Hope this helps.

Just a friendly suggestion, you may want to keep your tourniquet stowed in an easily deployable state. That way you can just "shake it loose" and apply the tourniquet one handed. For that, I suggest you go to the NA Rescue website and watch their video. It shows you how to fold it and why you DON'T tuck the windless into the clip for storage.

I would suggest a fixed blade dagger. Eye and ear protection,, 12 volt car adapter to usb for charging. Trauma shears. Make sure the light has a strobe mode, it will really disorient opponents at night. A noise maker with enough dB to disorient. I really like the bear spray. Need to get that for my daughters.

Call a bag like that “ my murse bag “ man purse. 😂😂😂😂😂. It really is very handy to have. I have one because I hang out in my house in gym shorts and a t shirt. If I have to go to Publix or somewhere quick, I’m not going to change into cargo shorts and strap on my EDC gear. With the “ murse “ I just throw it over my shoulder and have everything I need. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻. BTW. I don’t give 3 💩 what people think of me. I carry the 5.11 push pack.

A good tip for you guys , never forget to add you're blood type on somewhere.
It can be written with a marker on your bag , or on a tag , tattooed on your torso ...
Whatever.. but somewhere clearly visible ..in case something bad happen to you, you're loosing a lot of blood and are in a life threatening situation . Then the emergency can work more efficiently and faster on you if they see your blood type. Something i learnt in the army ..

As always, thanks for the suggestion! You’re right, I saw this video several months ago and put it into practice, I’ve got this basic set up in the smaller 9L version of this bag, works great with an M&P Compact 2.0 and mags. I added some Axil ear buds and substituted a 7 oz Police Magnum Pepper Spray, have one strong flashlight. I’m in sales, drive 5 States for work (contents and carry legal in all 5 States with my LTC) so I also have a smaller Get Home/Survival backpack with a Shockwave attached covertly and do EDC a POM on my body along with a Streamlight Microstream, a TDI fixed blade and a P365X with extra mag. I just think of this as my self defense bag, goes in the hotel with me every night and back in the car every day. This bag is small, lightweight, easy to handle, pack & store. For those who say it’s too much, I might agree if I was home every night and worked a normal 9-5 job in my home town or city. But times are getting even more unsettled, I believe they’ll get tougher and you just don’t know what you’ll run into away from home. Traveling every week I’m much more comfortable being (maybe) a bit over-prepared than caught unawares. Always appreciate your content!

I would trade out two of the flashlights (leaving two) for an asp and drop two of the mags for weight. If the situation can't be resolved with pepper spray, an asp, a knife, a gun with 3 mags... Having two more mags is likely not going to matter. Better to be light and fast, move and evade than trade shots in my opinion.

I had to go to Las Vegas on business in the middle of the pandemic and peaceful protests. I quick built a similar bag with many similar features, down to the extra mask. I have a piece of body armor inside my bag and a mini trauma kit. I like big flashlights, but they are heavy and I wouldn't necessarily spend my weight limit on that when smaller lights are even brighter. My bag was in conjunction with a Bail Out Bag and a Get Home Bag, and I tried not to duplicate them or to be overly redundant. I carried an extra T-shirt and socks in my bag, and I coordinated the Tshirt and my trousers to be close to the color of my bag, to really blend into the background.

Just so you are using the right tool for the job. I would also add a portable jumper cable power pack, about $200.00 in 10 to 20 dollar increments, a pair of tennis shoes and some kind of hydration.

Two observations that occurred to me. First, the mask might help if you deploy a big can of pepper spray (if you have time). And second but not totally directly related:be sure what kind of windows you have in your vehicle. More and more cars and trucks use laminated glass like in their windshields, and that requires a really substantial tool to get through because it will not shatter like single layer glass that collapses when you hit it with a windshield breaker. Just food for thought.

    • @sootch00

Reinforced glass is something that I should check into. 3M makes a film for houses that is unbreakable so it make sense that there would be similar auto glass. My one concern would be getting out in case of a fire or under water. You have me thinking. Thanks Jamie

For those of you about too toot the "Spraying a person bearmace is lethal force" card.
Yea it is, but when you have to go too court for a self defense situation and have to explain to a jury why you 'assaulted' kids, you sprayed them either the less-than-lethal option you had. The jury will not be able to argue that you chose to spray your attacker, rather than shoot them.
Two lethal options. One that is less-than-lethal in the right circumstances.
    Just food for thought.

Say losing one of the flashlights (when you have an laser/light for your handgun you can go without the smaller one) use that freed up space and weight for say a life straw or similar water filter and small collapsible water bladder/bottle would be a good addition, a small lighter to start a fire, and emergency fishing line and hook. Maybe a space blanket as well, if you say needed to use that bag to get you through a few days instead of a few hours those additions could mean life or death. I prefer a smaller Glock model instead of 19, but still one with the classic 9mm double stacked mag that would fit in my Ruger PC Charger takedown, and put both in one bag. A primary takedown pdw, and a backup handgun is my way to go. Even if you kept say a 10 and 32 round mag both would fit in each firearm if you needed it’s a nice touch. Also I’d prefer a hatchet or a compact rain jacket instead of bear/pepper spray, the hot sauce isn’t the tool I’d want in my hand in an emergency, putting all that aerosoled pepper in the air to affect myself too I’ll pass. I love the Velcro customized interior of the bag, thats real cool, I’d like my bag to be a bit bigger, preferably a backpack with a strap on the front so I can firmly affix it to my back without worrying of it sliding off if I needed to carry it. A separate small bag with a .22lr Ruger takedown and a few hundred rounds for small game hunting and backup pdw, water purifying tablets, a weeks worth of dried food, with a small tent, extra lighter, solar charger, extra pair of wool socks, beanie, you could survive for quite awhile in a shtf situation. That’s my $0.02, glad for another informative upload, as always your expertise is appreciated to add it to my own knowledge where I can now make more educated decisions in assembling my own bag. 👍

question: why not add a couple protein bars and a small water to pack? I know its not a "get home" bag, but if you grab that bag to leave a dangerous situation, may be nice to have some food/water to keep energy up?? if space is an issue, maybe swap out a flashlight and magazine 🤷🏻‍♂️
I really like this idea of self defense bag
(oh ya, always wondered... Do these stay in vehicle when unoccupied? How do you secure firearm from being stolen if left in vehicle??)

To the braniacs who think bear spray is a pesticide, it's not! From Wikipedia: Bear spray is a specific aerosol spray bear deterrent, whose active ingredients are highly irritant capsaicin and related capsaicinoids.

Road rage whether one person or multiple people is a good example of why you should have pepper spray. A unarmed person yelling at you through your car window is not a justifiable reason to kill them.

In the heat of battle someone could grab that bag and run. I think it needs some sort of security strap or flex cable around the car seat base or even attaching metal bracket to the floor. It must be easy for the owner to remove quick without looking but enough to confuse someone who doesn't know whats in the bag and just going for a quick pick and pull. I can't imagine your wife leaving the vehicle and draging that with her. Just like in a gun fight. Your going to have only a couple seconds to choose your tool and do something. You can't take your eyes off your opponent.

    Excellent video!
I would make a couple of suggestions. Having a large and small flashlight is a great idea. I would exchange the second flashlight and the folding knife for a fixed-blade knife (where legal) and a multi-tool like a Leatherman Wave. I would also keep the writing pen and pad in the same compartment (as well as the Sharpie and tourniquet).

    • @sootch00

Thanks Jason, I was back and forth about a fixed blade instead of the folder but since it's a great emergency tool, I went with it but your input is valid.

Consider some Trauma Shears for your med kit to go with the tourniquet.
I grabbed a larger first aid kit off of My Medic. It was stocked okay. I added a few things and keep it in my car. I had chest seals and some clot stuff that I added to it.
I also built two other kits from First Aid IFAK Pouch and put glove pouches on the outside along with Trauma Shears in a holder with the tourniquet. It’s on the outside because if you need to get to that stuff you have to get to it fast. I’m not sure about that PHLSTER... in a crisis situation fine motor skills can be a problem. I’d hate to wrestle getting the stuff out of it.
