I hope this helps a lot of people, l studied the sparrows in my back garden and they love a dust bath,so I sieved top soil through a kitchen drive so it made dust powder and then added mite powder to that. I then took out the bath water,and then put that mix in the aviary on the floor and they absolutely love it. I'm not going to say I don't have mite but I haven't seen any Bird's scratching
I wonder if you can use sticky traps on the outside of the cage to attract the mites to the pad. Super sticky and I would not put it in the cage as the feathers would get stuck to it and would be hard to remove. Organic. You can hang them or put them as an indicator to see if mites or any type of insect would be infesting the bird room. Not expensive and you can find them on Amazon.
I had a canary that had a cut And had mites he sadly passed i recently got a new one and now he has these pin like feathers sticking out of his head what should i do is he molten how can i treat him without picking him up as he is nervous
I'm definitely not a bird expert however I believehe's probably molting. You can definitely help him through it by giving baths (if he's okay with taking baths) if not you canor even spray a fine mist spritz of water daily, provide a multivitamin or supplement specifically for molting. Cucumbers and sprouts are good as well as petting rubbing or scratching the pin feathers to assist in getting the waxy coating off of the feathers. I've also heard that you can mix ACV and water and give a spritz as long as there's no broken skin. Vitamin a is good for keeping the skin and feathers supple. I run hot water to give my bird's steam which may also help, aloe vera can also bemixed with water n sprayed. You can Google how much acv to water ratios you could always ask a veterinarian I hope this helps at least a little like I said I'm no expert I'm also learning
Mat hi. I am in the middle of breeding season and I am seeing lots of mites in my bird room. I have what’s looking to be an infestation. Red mites, some scaly and can see some suffering from air sac mites. I know Ivomec is very effective but nervous to administer bc I don’t want to lose the birds fertility! Is it ok to treat with ivomec? Some breeders say no others say yes. Any advice is welcomed. Thanks
Mites. Not Mite. You use the plural because there are lots of them. What you said is the same as saying "treat the Canary, in all these cages for mite". As if there's one Canary and one, singular mite.
I respect your views, whilst it will I’m sure make no difference to you these birds are domesticated, like our cats and dogs and do not exist in the wild, neither would they survive in the wild.
@@TheCanaryRoom they would absolutely be happier in much bigger cages, or better still, an aviary. These tiny breeding cages are horrendous. Don't understand why breeders show them off proudly?!! 🙄
@@ponygirl1717 they have access to large flight cages (where they are at the moment) but yes they’re bred in smaller cages. Some people will never be happy with the domestication of animals whether that’s dogs, horses, hamsters and I respect that. My birds provided with a good clean environment and the best food and supplements I can acquire.
Lol just shut up they are domesticated CAGE bird they are suppose to live in a cage if they are let out into the wild they wont survive and will die it the same as fish that live there life in a tank u cant just dump them into a river or canal they will die why cant people understand that
