Love your channel. Such a breath of fresh air from the usual rubbish so many promote. I moved here 8 years ago after selling everything and although I have a home in Bali I spend most of my time traveling through Java, Sumatra and Sulawesi, recording my travels much as you do, tho only as entertainment for my friends back in Australia and so I have a permanent reminder of my travels. I'm actually heading to Java for two months tomorrow morning. I'd love to meet up for a coffee when I'm back if you're up for a chat!

I mostly cycle in good weather, but have been caught out a few times. In Mandalay Burma it bucketed down for a few days so I bought a heavy duty poncho with thick material and I've still got it. It's mostly what the scooter riders wore. In Bali I was cycling up to the Bunut bolong and it bucketed down with a river flowing down the road so I was drenched, but down near the sea it was good weather.
The song "Bobby McGee" or is it called "Freedom" by Janis Joplin sprung to mind when you spoke of the freedom you have with not having much. Amen to that! And yes, I'm living the same philosophy now, in regards to being unconventional, perhaps a good word to describe it. Like, I went out dancing tonight, danced to the songs I felt like, sat for others and people (lovely people) were consistently urging me to get up and dance more. I got a bit tired of being kind of told what to do. I do ME. That's it! I just laugh, nod and wave it off, politely. Another recent example. A post was put up in the local community group asking what people did when it was raining here, in Sanur. My comment: "Jump in puddles. That's what I do 😁 " People probably think I'm drunk but I don't care what they think. I don't drink alcohol anymore, by the way. I have no need for it, I'm happy already, without it. And if I so wish to partake, I can if I feel like it. Simples 😅 (ref. Oz advert). And yes, life is full of choices. We can choose anything we want to do, not continually worrying about if that choice is acceptable to others or even need to know exactly how that choice will unfold. That's not our job to worry about stuff like that. If we want it bad enough, it can and it will happen, regardless of the neigh-sayers or the how-tos or the societal norms. Keep living the dream Wayne.
It may have changed a bit from my last time in Bali, but you have more bargining power with good clean $100 bills than 50s or 20s. And yes even more so when you change a large amount and choosing best day and time of the day.
I got rid of 90% of my things. Its that last 10% that holds me back. I think its all psychological. Its keeping one foot in the past. Once i get rid of this last of things i dont even feel that i will miss them. Im still holding my self back.
Many who are triggered in observing someone elses life and need to make anything but a affirming comment, in seeing someone live their life.....and are happy and content in doing so. I feel there is an underlying sense of resentment, because for whatever reasons they chose a different path and it brings up a feeling of loss in them. Not so much a judgement but an observation of human behaviour I still am understanding. I think I am more purely accepting of people where they are at and however they chose to live their life, is not for me to judge or critisize unless...they ask for an opinion 🕊🙏💙🙏
@@WCMossYes it most definitely does.......WE ARE NOT ALL IN THE SAME PLACE, OR HAD THE SAME LIFE EXPIERIANCE. BUT if someone is so happy with their life choices, they are not triggered by someone elses..... It doesnt even factor into their observation.....as they would be at peace with WHO and WHERE they are.... Just saying 😮😂😅
good luck on your trip wayne , in bali 24th dec ,kuta , but usually ride around a bit , have my own scooter, sort of , anyway might see you somewhere on the road , will keep watching your content , to see where you are .terimah kasih boule
Now that's a man I'd love to meet! If you happen to notice I'm heading to Ambon please ask your father if I can meet him - and not for a RUclips video, I'd just like to talk with him.
Selemat Malam, Wayne! Bagus sekali jalanmu ke Moluccas. Once traveled 2 Ambon, took a boat with an another American(man) from Ambon to Banda island. When we docked, he ran away(run amok) & I spent hours looking for him. Finally, the kepala desa located him under a coconut tree. He was suffering from "culture shock." I immediately told him we will fly to Ujung Pajang where we will visit the Toraja. Everything changed in Sulawesi, easier to adjust. This has happened to me several times in the past, especially with Americans who tell me they want to join me in off the beaten path travel. Any experience?
Ha! That's hilarious, Liz. I've had the occasion to be with others who thought they might like to experience something off the beaten track and found one of my relationships hit the rocks after I dragged her through India. In hindsight India probably shouldn't have been the first place to introduce someone to the world.
@@WCMoss Sensory overload is India. Bali or Burma would have been easier to introduce someone 2 exotic travel with unique customs, food, architecture & safety. Staying in Sarawak and taking a trip upriver to visit longhouses is what most new travelers consider off-the-beaten travel. Once traveled with an American woman from NY to Lesser Sunda islands, who really panicked in not being able to catch a flight from Timor. When we able to leave, I took her to Rangoon & Mandalay. Travel begun to be fun 4 her, stepping outside the hotel, eating local food, going to temples, talking to locals in English, palm reading, gem markets, etc.
Hi mate, this lifestyle you describe is exactly what we are doing in Jan. sold absolutely everything, condensed my whole life into 1 pack. Sold house, car, clothes, household rubbish we had for decades, the lot. Living in SE Asia for the next few years. Can I ask you about income? How do you fund your lifestyle? How do you get your monthly income? I will be funding a monthly income from dividends. Thanks for your input.
I’m from Australia and I am not liking the way it’s headed at all. Not the same Australia I grew up in, it’s very much worse. The meth and drugs in Perth, the junkies and wokeness has driven many good people out like us. That’s one of the main reasons we have left.
Hi, AJ. I like your style - sell the lot and get going! I have a couple of small passive income streams with the option of doing some remote work if things get tight. Cheers.
Something very important for people to understand, Bali is mould central as is quite a few places in Asia but Bali is one of the worst and it makes many people unwell and yet few connect cause and affect for their symptoms. Be extremely careful and for many Northern European ancestry types it's very unsuitable for health and emotional balance, the heat and humidity is unsettling to our systems in so many ways.
yes as you know i have been far to fast to type and say ,, and you sir are living a great life.. i would rather be free than to be a constant worker .. very depressing.. and im very happy for you .. obviously you have had a past life.. we all have i feel ihave been three difrent women!! im happy you got your jacket, youneed it haha .. happy travels my friend
@@WCMoss aw thats really cool.. merry merry xmas time.. i was acutlaly thinking the other day about going back to bali.. im vanning it it fiordland very soon.. and i feel so privieliged too.. finally got a van .. yuuuuus
I think that's a great question! I imagine there would be some people who have lived here who have been affected and perhaps become more inquisitive or taken a deeper look at their spirituality. Personally, being surrounded daily by a others who see beyond the materialistic aspects of living perhaps doesn't push me further toward anything, but it does suggest to me that having a deep spiritual connection with something makes for a calmer existence.
As long as you have an income to keep going and not a burden on anyone else, your lifestyle is great. I get away as often as l can, l hate owning property it ties me down.
We all want different things, there is no wrong or right as water like life finds its own level. We need different people with different goals in life or there would be no products, we would be still living in caves. There would be no roads no planes hell no motorbikes shorts or rain jackets, so it's great that we have people that want to do the things that make modern life what it is today. For me I've worked hard to get the things I want and it has enabled me to travel to amazing places and stay in fantastic hotels etc. But apart from all that I take comfort that pride that I've made the world a better place for my customers and in return in my aged years I have it covered. I do agree things can take time and effort and can restrict freedom, but I wouldn't change a thing as it has turned out. But what's right for me isn't right for others and vica versa. Wax On!! 🤔🤔
I think it's important to acknowledge people and their choices - many get to carve out a life they value and are content with which is great. I worry for those who don't realize they have a choice other than to traipse the predictable path and by doing so don't get to enjoy any freedom to be their true selves.
@@WCMoss I agree, I tell my friends retire as early as you can. You can only spend so much money, you have your later years in order so that is a stress reliever in itself, so go and enjoy yourself in whatever makes you happy what ever that is
Hi Wayne ive never been to Indonesia. Are the money changers there as dodgy as media reports say they are or is it just the odd one as in most countries?
Certainly not a failure for following your dreams! I, like you do not need a lot of things in life and there is nothing wrong with going through life and travelling light, done it all my life much to friends having a laugh about it.Enjoy and who cares about the nay sayers.
Wayne,I never fitted the mould and never understood the obsession with marriage and kids but respect the choice of others. We all have different priorities and need to live by our values. I lost the bulk of my assets indirectly due to injury which was hard, however mostly my funds have gone towards travels. I do have some limitations and need to improve my health as want to explore more. Nobody has a right to judge anybody and at the end of our lives quality will not equate to assets and it's better not to have children than do it for selfish reasons. It would be a boring world if we were all conformists
@WCMoss Cheers Wayne,my wish is to spend more time in Bali to work on my health to give me the ability to go on more adventures My only obligation in Oz is my favourite person in the world who is my mother and not sure how to deal with the inevitable, however I know being in Bali longer in future will provide me with the nurturing environment I will need
Life is for the living LIVE it im going to do something very similar not to fare in the futur but with wife if she not interested ill see her when i get back LoL.
Most people simply can't comprehend when others don't worship money, so they are almost predisposed to judge. Sleep well knowing you are not one of those "most" people. 👌
Thanks, rc. I think alternative lifestyles challenge many people making them question their own decisions. They see others out there living life to the full while they toil along, whittling the years away for reasons they're not sure they had any part in.
Whatever gets u thru life man. Who is anyone to judge ? Maybe later on you can visit out East in the NTT province. Timur, Flores etc...as an Aussie i kind if prefer it out there. 800 clicks north of Darwin.
On Timur you see the Casurina trees ...always reminds me of Aus. And if I'm not mistaken it's in the same tectonic plate. Also the lizards of Australia kind of seem like close relatives of Komodo dragon.
Those ignoramuses are called "Sheep" or "Sheeple". Question, have you been to Thailand or Cambodia, i am tossing up with either but Bali may be a another choice, i know zero about Bali, so perhaps you can enlighten me with the Pro's and Con's. The Philippines did catch my attention but too many Con's came into the equation. I am an Aussie (none sheep)
I like Bali because the people are of a soft kind nature generally. Bali is also only a three hour flight from where I'm from in Perth. Thailand probably has the best health care, Cambodia not. Thailand also has pretty good infrastructure so most things work. Cost of living is probably roughly the same, but that will depend on what you like to do. If you're a drinker, Cambodia would be a better fit. My advice is take a trip and spend a couple of months in each and get an idea of what fits best for you.
Hello, I notice that he is very agitated when walking; it seems that he has some respiratory difficulty. I think I should see a doctor. Greetings from Argentina.
@@WCMoss Wayne, I am an 82-year-old man, I have 9 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, I have difficulty walking and heart problems, I know we are just passing through, but the important thing is YOUR QUALITY OF LIFE. Mine is not a criticism, just a comment. Hug from Argentina.
The freedom of having nothing has a non identity sense about it, though that nothing is electronic information transfers that authenticate the weary traveler's identity as having a net worth which solves their purpose problem, relative to purpose problems others have, such as future generation anxiety or philanthropic impulses.
Couldn't agree more mate, Im actually on the same path as yourself. My partner asked me a year ago how living in Bali compares to Australia, "freedom".
It's there for many of us if we want it isn't it, Brad? Freedom can take different forms of course but for some of us Bali and the region in general offers just what we need to find a little bit peace in life.

Hey Kartoom. will do my best. Cheers.
Happy Travels be safe mate .

You certainly get around on your bike, dancier. I thought about just doing a sea circuit along the coast.
You sound like a hoot, Jenny. And the people pleasing days are way behind us both.
It may have changed a bit from my last time in Bali, but you have more bargining power with good clean $100 bills than 50s or 20s. And yes even more so when you change a large amount and choosing best day and time of the day.
You're right on the denominations of the bills - the larger the better.
I got rid of 90% of my things. Its that last 10% that holds me back. I think its all psychological. Its keeping one foot in the past. Once i get rid of this last of things i dont even feel that i will miss them. Im still holding my self back.
That last cut can be the deepest. :)
With you on the simple lifestyle!
Best not complicate things, Cap. :)
An 'empty nester' here... I work online, therefore can work from anywhere. I'm getting itchy feet and wonder 👍
Sounds like you're just about ready for an adventure. :)
Great work Wayne enjoy your life 🇦🇺🇦🇺
Thanks, Alan. Its there to be lived!
I think I am more purely accepting of people where they are at and however they chose to live their life, is not for me to judge or critisize unless...they ask for an opinion
🕊🙏💙🙏
Understanding we're all doing the best we can with what we've got helps, I think.
You do what suits you Wayne! Ignore the fools.
Will do, Tony. Will do.
good luck on your trip wayne , in bali 24th dec ,kuta , but usually ride around a bit , have my own scooter, sort of , anyway might see you somewhere on the road , will keep watching your content , to see where you are .terimah kasih boule
For sure, Malcolm. If you see us heading toward each other at some point give me a shout.Cheers.
Wayne my Father is 91 living in Ambon for 30 years still active enjoying life
Now that's a man I'd love to meet! If you happen to notice I'm heading to Ambon please ask your father if I can meet him - and not for a RUclips video, I'd just like to talk with him.
Iam sure he would be up for a chat I
Iam sure he would be up for a chat good on the tongue and the tooth

Great stuff, keep up the good work 🙏🙏
Hey Claire, cheers. Thanks for dropping by.
Material things breakdown, disappear, are taken from us; memories, experiences stay with us forever...
These are the things we truly own, Dennis - for sure.
Cheers.
@@WCMoss ok, thanks
The only person who can measure your success is you. No matter who you are.
Completely agree, Georgie. It's only ourselves who can be any sort of judge on what we deem successful.
Hi Corn. I've found some of us northern European types can adapt to the climate quite well and even prefer it.
Keren 👍»
Thanks.
yes as you know i have been far to fast to type and say ,, and you sir are living a great life.. i would rather be free than to be a constant worker .. very depressing.. and im very happy for you .. obviously you have had a past life.. we all have i feel ihave been three difrent women!! im happy you got your jacket, youneed it haha .. happy travels my friend
We all deserve a life of freedom, I think. And I do feel very privileged for mine.
@@WCMoss aw thats really cool.. merry merry xmas time.. i was acutlaly thinking the other day about going back to bali.. im vanning it it fiordland very soon.. and i feel so privieliged too.. finally got a van .. yuuuuus
Come To Kerala ,❤
I will get there sooner or later. :)
Does living in a deeply spiritual place like Ubud influence your ideas about spirituality?
I think that's a great question! I imagine there would be some people who have lived here who have been affected and perhaps become more inquisitive or taken a deeper look at their spirituality. Personally, being surrounded daily by a others who see beyond the materialistic aspects of living perhaps doesn't push me further toward anything, but it does suggest to me that having a deep spiritual connection with something makes for a calmer existence.
@@WCMoss You have the tourists who go too far , like the woman who thought she could "join in" the Balinese show.
As long as you have an income to keep going and not a burden on anyone else, your lifestyle is great. I get away as often as l can, l hate owning property it ties me down.
Material stuff does become a burden, doesn't it?
Do you still need an international drivers licence as well as an Australian licence in Indonesia?
You do, although many take the risk of not having one.
@WCMoss Cheers mate thanks for the quick reply.
Night see you over there
We all want different things, there is no wrong or right as water like life finds its own level.
You do have to be a little careful. The main ones are generally OK.
Certainly not a failure for following your dreams! I, like you do not need a lot of things in life and there is nothing wrong with going through life and travelling light, done it all my life much to friends having a laugh about it.Enjoy and who cares about the nay sayers.
It's a bit tricky for some to understand that a few of us are completely content with very little.
Very true Wayne, keep it up and my wife and I have been following you since you started.
I think we're cut from the same cloth, Stephanie. Hopefully you'll be back out there/here in no time and living the life you want.
@WCMoss Cheers Wayne,my wish is to spend more time in Bali to work on my health to give me the ability to go on more adventures
My only obligation in Oz is my favourite person in the world who is my mother and not sure how to deal with the inevitable, however I know being in Bali longer in future will provide me with the nurturing environment I will need
Any relation to Ian Moss Cold Chisel?
No, unfortunately. If you heard my guitar playing you could tell. :)
Привет Уэйн!!Всех благ !!!
Hi Svetlana. Thanks for having a look at the channel..
Where you headed tomorrow Wayne?
Hi, itskolis. Going to Padangbai for a few days - looking forward to being around some water.
@WCMoss i left uluwatu this morning, will be in ubud on Friday, spewing I'm going to miss ya
@@itskolis Yeah, right. Might catch each other on the swings and roundabouts next time. Sorry I missed ya.
@WCMoss most definitely! Safe travels and I will be watching your adventures. Keep up the great content
Cash still works in indo?😆
More and more westerners don't use it.
Life is for the living LIVE it im going to do something very similar not to fare in the futur but with wife if she not interested ill see her when i get back LoL.
Ha! Now you're a man with conviction. Nice.
How could you tell he sold helmets?
Saw it from across the road, I think. or remember from passing by before...
Whatever gets u thru life man. Who is anyone to judge ? Maybe later on you can visit out East in the NTT province. Timur, Flores etc...as an Aussie i kind if prefer it out there. 800 clicks north of Darwin.
I've been through, Flores and Timur some time ago and would really like to get back there. You could almost paddle from Darwin. :)
@@WCMoss Thank you kind sir, yes spending time in each is a must i am not a drinker - been there, burnt out Esophagus from reflux🙃🤐
Hello, I notice that he is very agitated when walking; it seems that he has some respiratory difficulty. I think I should see a doctor. Greetings from Argentina.
I'm agitated because I'm old, have a bad back, bad leg, bad lungs, and sometimes a bad attitude. People aren't perfect human beings.
Take it back and get the bright orange one. Sorry but that one is road kill colour.
The freedom of having nothing has a non identity sense about it, though that nothing is electronic information transfers that authenticate the weary traveler's identity as having a net worth which solves their purpose problem, relative to purpose problems others have, such as future generation anxiety or philanthropic impulses.
Good to see you, philo.
@ philosophically so, and more so in the Spice Island cluster of the archipelago.
Life is a shmorgishboard. Choose what you want
I agree. I think if we can work out what we want, we're well on our way.
Making out you have nothing! Well you have a passport, money, white skin and a place to go to if you stuff up. You have a lot actually.
Western privilege isn't lost on me,
Couldn't agree more mate, Im actually on the same path as yourself. My partner asked me a year ago how living in Bali compares to Australia, "freedom".
It's there for many of us if we want it isn't it, Brad? Freedom can take different forms of course but for some of us Bali and the region in general offers just what we need to find a little bit peace in life.
How old are you, mate? 🦘🦘🦘🦘🦘
57. Feel eighty in body and eighteen in mind.
Wow. I thought mid sixties.
@@littleowlbooks8514 it's probably the Australian sun 😂 I'm 40 but the Queensland climate is ruining me 😂
