The correct spelling, however, is with an apostrophe: "So close they can finish each other's prison sentences." If you're gonna quote someone, make sure to use proper grammar.
@TheGrammarPolice7 I’ll use proper English grammar the day you learn my language, nerd. Learning proper grammar in one language is easy. Try learning it in three languages and juggling them on a daily basis.
My parents when I was a kid: "We don't want you to play violent video games because they might turn you into a violent maniac". I, as an adult: "I don't want my parents to enter social media because it turns them into radicalized conspiracy theorists".
Can we put a moratorium on using the phrase "conspiracy theorists" until at least a few people see justice from the Epstein trafficking..........."conspiracy theory"? 🙄
@LembeckIsStayingthe problem with conspiracy theorists is that they just want to see their theories confirmed. As an example, Alex Jones was talking for decades of elite PDFs that traffick children. Now he supports Trump and sees no indication that he or the rest of the administration could be involved in the files. For them, its about story telling no interest of getting to the truth.
You know, I have never been invited to participate in a transnational, paedophilic sex-trafficking operation, and quite frankly I do not think it would be my cup of tea. However, if that were to happen, I feel like my first priority would be to not be photographed fucking constantly with the ring leader of the paedophile syndicate while I am in various states of undress. The fact that the same cannot be said for a staggering number of elected officials really should disqualify them from holding any kind of office on the grounds of basic competence.
it might also be an instrument of control/shared risk mind games. like "i'll fix all this illegal shit for you but to make sure you don't rat me out for it i'm gonna collect photographic evidence of you and said illegal shit" if you have so many people knowing about your crimes you're gonna want some sort of power over them to make sure they don't use that against you when it suits them
"finish each other prison sentences" Either the writing team started with the best, or I'm gonna die laughing by the time this ends. Twitter, posthumously renamed to X.
it's just impossible to make a verb out of X. If you're tweeting, are you Xing? If you received a tweet, did you receive an X? It just doesn't work colloquially at all.
@vihmaussivenitaja It's not pining, it's passed on! This Twitter is no more! It has ceased to be! It's expired and gone to meet its webdesigner! It's a stiff! Bereft of life, it rests in peace! If you hadn't nailed it to the MAGAts, it'd be pushing up the daisies! It's run down the curtain and joined the choir invisible! THIS IS AN EX-TWITTER!
I like Xitter - it works whether you pronounce the X as /ɛks/ - /ɛksɪtɚ/, because it describes how many people _used to_ be on it, or as /ʃ/ - /ʃɪtɚ/, describing the current state.
Musk wants to make Twitter the one platform for collective consciousness because he wants all of us to be under his control. Since he believes he's so much better to run the world and we all are too stupid and inefficient 😂 That's what he really believes (based on his actions and words all along). He may not be consciously aware of his own belief (or don't want to say it out loud). Musk's confidence comes from ignorance
It's a Heinlein reference. Now, Heinlein has . . . issues . . . of his own, and plenty of them, but calling the Twitter chatbot "Grok" clearly shows that Musk never read A Stranger In A Strange Land to its very strange end.
True, but sadly it comes from "Stranger in a Strange Land", a 1961 Robert Heinlein book. It's a book worth reading. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stranger_in_a_Strange_Land#Grok
People say that it's a Heinlein reference, but Elon most likely knew it just as "grok" (verb), meaning "understood completely" It went from Heinlein to early techies, to people pretending to play into nerd aesthetic.
I imagine he started with that, thinking about how they only need 1 brain to function properly but then actually realized that this would be too on the nose (nice, if we do the thinking for all people) and then went with "to learn more about the universe" instead. Genius much. Such wow.
imagine, Musk is literally a white racist billionaire from South Africa who famously did Nazi salutes on live television & people still trust him, who knows how much worse things would be if he were an eloquent speaker.
I think I signed up probably more than a decade ago, never opened the app and immediately forgot the password for good. Never understood the appeal. Now I'm active on Threads just to remind myself that I never was on Twitter.
Things like tax evasion are so much easier to prove as well. Maybe those photos are AI, maybe someone photoshopped them to be used as blackmail, ... . Not saying those arguments are true but the defense might use them to create distrust. But money is relatively easy to document. Meaning you can build a stronger defense. Things shouldn't work that way but unfortunately they do
I would hope that at this point the best forensic experts in the world are able to distinguish ai generated files from real ones. Has to be something in the meta data right? Or pixel structure?
@guywhocommentsanonymously metadata, yes. There are marks. However, not all platforms follow one and self hosted AI still can have none, leaving only the option of pixel counting (as long as there are no obvious errors), and even that can be called into question. I'm assuming the world's about to have some big changes in forensic laws in the next 4 years.
@guywhocommentsanonymously I don't know. Some pics are really easy to notice AI was involved. But some other are extremely hard to see. That's why AI watermarks are important and should be implemented yesterday. But what I know is some artists are extremely good at photoshop. Spotting those fakes is sometimes impossible by just looking at it. Like I'm really worried about what AI is going to be used for in the future if it going to continue being without regulations
Nah he just simply doesn't know, he has these vague ideas of what he wants or thinks would be good but whenever you ask him to go into more detail he completely falls apart. Or calls people jerks and leaves.
@allinefeyn9224 no don't fall for the awkwardness. Twitter is a fenomenal data collecting system, and through grok LLMs and Palantir algorithms can really be used to influence hunge parts of public life in the worst ways.
To be fair, "news" on US TV is in many cases not better. You can't fill out your Bullshit Bingo card fast enough if you switch to Fox News for example.
Why would the gold still be in bars? Haven’t you seen all the fancy gold geegaws decorating the walls of every room in the White House? You need a whole bunch of them for a 40,000 sq ft banquet hall "ballroom".
absolutely! They are white wizards totally about to help the people of middle earth! What is that noise under the earth? Never mind that secret orc army, thats fake news!
It's exactly the same thing with red pillers not understanding the point of the Matrix or Fight Club. Even American Psycho is aspirational to these specific type of men.
35:47 This reminds me that, according to Elon's own biographer, he used to brag to his pals as a kid that he memorized every single book in the library. And yet when asked questions that requires more than rote memorization, he always constantly struggled. Elon is not smart. Sly, perhaps. Evil, definitely. But not smart.
Even if it were true (and I have a very hard time believing _any_ of his accomplishments - if you told me he tied his shoes today, I'd wonder if he just put on slip-ons and called that tying), it just showcases the two separate types of intelligence. The way I read it (mind you, I am not an expert, it's been a while, and I read it on the internet, so make your judgements of the validity accordingly), there is *solid* or *static intelligence* - the things you've learnt, the facts you've memorised, the total sum of your knowledge - and *dynamic* or *liquid intelligence* - the ability to make connections between those facts, the ability to make conclusions.
@OndřejVágner That is actually a somewhat old model. Intelligence requires you to draw from both abilities. Your brain mainly stores patterns. Very few people have a memory that stores the actual details, so we ignore them for now. Our brain does not categorise those patterns either like you would in a bookcase or list. That is your 'knowledge' part which is actually nothing but information storage. It becomes knowledge when you can successfully retrieve it over and over again, no matter what context. Context is the key here. Randomly pulling out some facts is not intelligence nor is it knowledge. Once you can successfully retrieve and combine that stored information, it is again context that decides what it becomes. Just retrieval is knowledge, combining this knowledge with other knowledge and eventually even creating new conclusions from that is intelligence.
@damiang888 compared to US (which I know a bit about) and Russia (where I'm from), pretty good actually. Not that those are high bars in 2026, but still.
Also interesting how he says he left with his wife and all his kids, but doesn't mention the nannies then :P I sort of think he sold them to JE that day
I stoped using twitter 10 years ago. Mainly cause it used to increase my anxiety and had panic atacks more often. I am so happy i am not on it or facebook anymore. I dont even use IG nor tiktok. However i will check John's OF always 😅
This is the "Bern das Brot" Corner. Germany awakens and watches Last Week Tonight. Thank you for another Full Episode not only "Main thing" like in the past. It is a welcome change.
They mentioned a while back that for many non wealthy countries (like Mexico where i am) full episodes would be released on YT for free, while in places like the US and UK main topics would be free on YT but full episodes would be on HBO/HBOmax, that Oliver and the team had to hash out a deal to let that happen
As Stephen Fry once put it and i’m paraphrasing: Twitter is this swimming pool with the occasional turd in the corner” with El0N at the helm it’s a pool with an industrial sewer pipeline unloading toxic sludge into the pool and nearby streams
the US government has been in shambles for a while now. Between tantrums, Truth Social, Twitter/X and the Gulf of Whomever, padding the pockets of pharma companies and nepotism, there's little time left to govern.
I know this sounds crazy, but I definitely saw news broadcasts stating that he'd died in prison. Obviously, they were fake because all the names are already out, right?
@RorschachRev sure he was, better inform him about that, so he can say from now on 😂😂😂 His luck is his BFF probably prohibited any video record of their "special" secret parties, so aside from some photos (not destroyed), the FIB only had the testimonies from the victims, but not many concrete proofs to open a case against him!
C'est peut-être pas plus mal que les infos n'aient pas le droit de faire de la pub, a fortiori pour de l'alcool ;) (Et on n'a pas besoin de ça pour être un pays d'alcooliques.)
It blows my mind that there are still people using Twitter post-Musk. To call it an anti-intellectual, right-wing, supremacist cesspit would be too kind.
@dubaniewnosie4091 Ah, you’re the one the meme refers to in the phrase: ‘Welcome to the internet. Someone without a sense of humour will be with you shortly."
A collective consciousness on a social media platform is probably the least effective / least promising way to learn or understand things that I can imagine. It's diversity of thought and that brings about advances in all fields of human endeavour. Also, I enjoy my individual consciousness quite as it is, separate from fundamentalist jesus freaks and nazis and whatnot, and do not desire to meld it together with elon musk's rotten ketamine brain.
Reading at a Kindergarten every 3 weeks. I have to be buzzed in after stating who I am... When I was in Kindergarden myself (bout 36years ago), we also had a locked door
When I heard „daycares should typically have a locked door“, my first reaction was: „no? why would they?“ because in Germany, daycares do not need to be locked and that is completely normal. The Us is pretty fucked up sometimes and safety measures (like armed security at school etc.) that shouldn‘t be are completely normalized, thats crazy to me.
Where I live it’s not uncommon to have a locked gate or door, but not primarily to stop people getting in. Mostly to stop the children causing chaos or getting out! The people trying to get in are almost always parents who want to take kids home for whatever reason and didn’t think it might be necessary to tell anyone. So there have been incidents of parents just wandering in and taking their child causing panic because, you know, if they don’t tell the staff they’ve taken their kid home how are the staff supposed to know what happened. A missing child is quite a serious matter. Usually said parents would be spotted and spoken to about that.
@zephie531 Yeah; there is also the social specific contexts. In the NL where I currently live, a kid that wanders out of a daycare will likely be in a heavily pedestrian environment (and so an adult will probably notice that the kid has escaped) and things like cars will actively stop for people. In the US, a daycare might be in a business park and cars/car culture is such that the kid would be in far more danger. All of which to say is, you have to use solutions that fit the situation and I don't think anyone would really argue that, in the long term and more broadly, we should push for safety for our kids.
@lumina9995The episode didn't even mention Bulgaria (it said eastern Europe, Bulgaria is in southern Europe). And we all know eastern Europe means Belarus or Russia
@R.G.Vitanov It probably does mean Belarus or Russia (even though Russia is in Asia), but Bulgaria is in fact in eastern Europe too. You tried to contradict a statement about longitude with a statement about latitude ^^
"I Promise It's Actually Worse Than You Think For Reasons You May Not Know And In Ways That Will Unfortunately Impact All Of Us" as yet another alternative title for Last Week Tonight 😂
18:52 This is also happening in Facebook. Despite my constant efforts of blocking political posts, I kept getting recommended content for known pedophile defenders like Kristi Noem and Pam Bondi. When you factor in the Epstein deal, it makes sense: they're all part of the same child rape club.
In Finland lots of them are locked (the outside door, not the room doors), but mainly to ensure the kids don't run away, not to keep people out😅 Especially in larger cities in Finland many daycares have started to add camera doorbell systems for safety, but it's mostly for theoretical threats, nothing has actually happened to trigger this.
It's a bit of a many problem issue. Daycares in the US may not always be in pedestrian trafficked environments and US kids aren't always use to being as free range as in other places. Plus things like US cars and car culture. So you have a situation where free range kids (at least for the younger ones) do need a bit of a guardrail because that might be only thing there vs other adults. You kind of have to fit the solution to the situation. This isn't to say that all those contribution factors are GOOD; they absolutely do need to change and improve. But in the meantime, if there is a danger, you kinda just have to work within that boundary.
Right wingers went from being misinformed by TV to misinformed by a social media platform specifically designed to misinform... I honestly would like to see how well these people score on a reading comprehension tests. I wonder if their brains just can't comprehend any text that is more than a page long with words that can't be substituted with grunts and emojis.
1. You're right 2. But keep in mind that everyone is biased. Left-wing people too. I, for one, am left-wing biased. I know that if I hear someone spout homophobic slurs, I'll take their facts less seriously in the future.
@hogztcp239 There is a fundamental difference between what people in the US claim to be left wing radicals and what the rest of the world claim to be left wing radicals. Left wing radicals in the US are basically people advocating for human rights that are already a thing in places like Europe and Canada. while right wing radicals are asking for something that hasn’t been a thing since the 1930s, and even then they aren’t considers that radical.
@hogztcp239 The "radicals" on the left: universal healthcare now! The "normies" on the right: All immigrants are violent criminals who must be deported now! All federal use of force is necessary, civilians caught resisting will be shot and treated as terrorists. The rest of the world laughs at how the US views "left and right" 😂😂
I left twitter/instagram/facebook years ago. Never had tiktok or any other shit like that. I'm only on YT for videos and WhatsApp for communication and I can tell the detox have been incredible
“So close they can finish each others prison sentences” is such a great line.
Literally and figuratively
The correct spelling, however, is with an apostrophe: "So close they can finish each other's prison sentences." If you're gonna quote someone, make sure to use proper grammar.
@TheGrammarPolice7 I’ll use proper English grammar the day you learn my language, nerd.
Learning proper grammar in one language is easy. Try learning it in three languages and juggling them on a daily basis.
@CrossfacePanda Also they got it wrong themself!!!
("others' prison", because plural)
The writers in this show are geniuses 😂😂😂
My parents when I was a kid: "We don't want you to play violent video games because they might turn you into a violent maniac".
I, as an adult: "I don't want my parents to enter social media because it turns them into radicalized conspiracy theorists".
Can we put a moratorium on using the phrase "conspiracy theorists" until at least a few people see justice from the Epstein trafficking..........."conspiracy theory"? 🙄
@LembeckIsStayingI've never heard any so-called conspiracy theorist talk about Epstein before his death.
Spewing blind hate and by accident getting some parts kinda correct is not redeeming. It just proves the infinite monkey theorem. @LembeckIsStaying
@LembeckIsStayingthe Epstein files aren't a conspiracy theory they are a conspiracy
Life is so much better when you're out of Twitter.
That is actually true.
musk amplified z10 Islmphbia but bans all truth about is ra hel.
TRUE!!!
Never been there.
Proud to say I've never been there 😊
You know, I have never been invited to participate in a transnational, paedophilic sex-trafficking operation, and quite frankly I do not think it would be my cup of tea.
I doubt theyve stopped. Rudy guilliani was very happy to take off his pants in borat 2
I think great a many unsuspicious placed cameras where part of Epsteins business model.
They think they're untouchable.
It's the audacity. They feel untouchable and they are kinda right about that. 😢
it might also be an instrument of control/shared risk mind games. like "i'll fix all this illegal shit for you but to make sure you don't rat me out for it i'm gonna collect photographic evidence of you and said illegal shit" if you have so many people knowing about your crimes you're gonna want some sort of power over them to make sure they don't use that against you when it suits them
The vegetable gardener was my favourite part after all that vile garbage. Simple, positive and with a truly majestic parsnip. ❤
What about girls drinking rosé at 6:45 am?
It was truly the best palate cleanser after so much Elon Musk. I love a good parsnip too, I could almost smell it myself when he sniffed it 😂
@klas-666Those were women my friend.
"finish each other prison sentences"
Either the writing team started with the best, or I'm gonna die laughing by the time this ends.
Twitter, posthumously renamed to X.
This was actually brilliant and I had to pause the video to check if someone wrote a comment about it. Amazing writing.
it's just impossible to make a verb out of X. If you're tweeting, are you Xing?
If you received a tweet, did you receive an X? It just doesn't work colloquially at all.
(E)x Twitter is also a good one in my opinion. Goes well with ex-prince, the official title for Andrew. Ex-president also sounds nice.
Calling Twitter Twitter is the only acceptable deadnaming
I think companies in general may be called whatever you want to call it.
Like fuck it, it's Apple Computers Inc. again now.
Gulf of Mexico is fine, too.
It’s not Twitter. It’s 100% Musk’s X now
Only difference between new and old twitter is the amount of ai generated porn.
I agree, we shouldn't deadname. Its not called twitter its called x. And its not Tweets its musks.
Love that there are full episodes now! Thank you!
Thanks business daddy!
Only for the international audience. USAmericans can only watch the main segment (unless they have a VPN).
@MariaMartinez-researcherYeah, but they can also pay John's business daddy. I don't even think that is an option here.
@MariaMartinez-researcher Haha, amazing. 🙂 So it's inverse geo-blocking 😀
that's been going on for at least 1-2 years now iirc
they were also uploading older episodes a while ago, not sure if that stopped or why tho
"so we can manipulate them better" , was screaming from all his pores
Musk wants to make Twitter the one platform for collective consciousness because he wants all of us to be under his control. Since he believes he's so much better to run the world and we all are too stupid and inefficient 😂 That's what he really believes (based on his actions and words all along). He may not be consciously aware of his own belief (or don't want to say it out loud). Musk's confidence comes from ignorance
Elon Musk did a great impression of the "Have you ever had a dream like this?" kid!
Grok definitely sounds like a name an actual troll would be called.
It's a Heinlein reference. Now, Heinlein has . . . issues . . . of his own, and plenty of them, but calling the Twitter chatbot "Grok" clearly shows that Musk never read A Stranger In A Strange Land to its very strange end.
Grok is backwards Korg... and I wouldn't put it past Elon to be this lame in naming
True, but sadly it comes from "Stranger in a Strange Land", a 1961 Robert Heinlein book. It's a book worth reading.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stranger_in_a_Strange_Land#Grok
People say that it's a Heinlein reference, but Elon most likely knew it just as "grok" (verb), meaning "understood completely"
It went from Heinlein to early techies, to people pretending to play into nerd aesthetic.
@jochentram9301 "...issues..." is a good way to put it XD
As my dad used to say, "Heinlein is the only right-wing writer to ever make sense".
30-40 trillion synapses farting in elon’s head simultaneously 😂😂😂
Musk, not ‘Elon’ like he’s a mate
I imagine he started with that, thinking about how they only need 1 brain to function properly but then actually realized that this would be too on the nose (nice, if we do the thinking for all people) and then went with "to learn more about the universe" instead.
Genius much. Such wow.
imagine, Musk is literally a white racist billionaire from South Africa who famously did Nazi salutes on live television & people still trust him, who knows how much worse things would be if he were an eloquent speaker.
No no no, this was actually genius, you just don't get it, you know..
@bhoops13 'Skum'
Twitter is mostly just a bot farm at this point.
That's the internet now
Deleted Twitter finally after this video. Thanks for the nudge
I think I signed up probably more than a decade ago, never opened the app and immediately forgot the password for good. Never understood the appeal. Now I'm active on Threads just to remind myself that I never was on Twitter.
😂 „You can make money off pissed americans staring at their phones“
Friendly reminder John, that Al Capone got arrested due to tax evasion. Sometimes the biggest criminals fall due to the smallest hurdle they forgot.
Things shouldn't work that way but unfortunately they do
They also care more about money than about people -- specifically women and brown people, but if you're poor and inconvenient they'll ignore you too
I would hope that at this point the best forensic experts in the world are able to distinguish ai generated files from real ones. Has to be something in the meta data right? Or pixel structure?
@guywhocommentsanonymously metadata, yes. There are marks. Seeing Elon at the question "Why is this important?" struggling really hard to avoid saying "Mind Control!" 😀
Which is an irony because he wants people to be a collective.. on his beliefs.
@FallenRavenExcept people are generally not crazy, he is.
Glad to see I wasn't the only one who caught it
Nah he just simply doesn't know, he has these vague ideas of what he wants or thinks would be good but whenever you ask him to go into more detail he completely falls apart. Or calls people jerks and leaves.
@allinefeyn9224 no don't fall for the awkwardness. Twitter is a fenomenal data collecting system, and through grok LLMs and Palantir algorithms can really be used to influence hunge parts of public life in the worst ways.
„I don’t watch tv or the news, I use twitter“ should revoke your right to work as a journalist
I like it when folks tell you how they where brainwashed
And your voting right.
To be fair, "news" on US TV is in many cases not better. You can't fill out your Bullshit Bingo card fast enough if you switch to Fox News for example.
Should revoke your right to communicate in any other way than on Shitter.
That same journalists that tell you for 2 years now how a livestreamed genocide is just and good if the right ones are doing it?
Those are some gigantic vegetables. Just how?!
Brilliant, as always. When I begin to feel down, I remember that John Oliver still has a show, and I feel better.
But for how long now that Paramount got WB.. 😢
Has anyone checked the Mar-a-Lago bathrooms lately to see if there are any excessive amounts of gold bars lying about?
Or Top-Secret Files left from Trumps last presidency.
Why would the gold still be in bars? Haven’t you seen all the fancy gold geegaws decorating the walls of every room in the White House? You need a whole bunch of them for a 40,000 sq ft banquet hall "ballroom".
@ericminchThat would be a bit too clever for the panderer and thief
@ericminch My first thought. All that "decoration" has to come from somewhere.
@MortusVanDerHell pretty sure those are still in the bathroom
Was about to sleep... guess it can wait 40 minutes
Same!
Same
Same!
fall of civilizations is the best youtube channel to fall asleep to btw
Same
Elon Musk and Peter Thiel taking references to Lord of the Rings is not suspicious at all and they are totally the good guys.
absolutely! They are white wizards totally about to help the people of middle earth! What is that noise under the earth? Never mind that secret orc army, thats fake news!
It's exactly the same thing with red pillers not understanding the point of the Matrix or Fight Club. Even American Psycho is aspirational to these specific type of men.
yeah. Just Call it WeBeEvil Ltd. and be done with it.
--- Edit -- also a missed opportunity to compare the eating habits of DJ and Denethor
What's wrong with making references to LotR?
@oskarskalski2982 In general nothing.
But sometimes it does not turn out to be a good idea.
Like Kathleen Kennedy making Star Wars references.
"national drink wine day"
This is absolutely hysterical to see as a French lmfao
Is it true that in France, every day is national drink wine day
30 years old never had a twitter account and will never have one, avoided that shit 😂
Musk, not Elon
@bhoops13 Trukk, not Munky

@dwiss2556 Neat! Someone took my half-remembered comment and provided a whole bunch of actual information. Cheers!
Who needs a functioning sleep schedule anyways
A functioning sleep schedule? In this economy?
Just move to a more reasonable country, timezone included.
Hello from Armenia!
@klas-666 how's everything in Armenia?
@damiang888 compared to US (which I know a bit about) and Russia (where I'm from), pretty good actually. Not that those are high bars in 2026, but still.
@klas-666 nice to know, thanks for the reply!
Musk carrying that sink into Twitter offices rather gives 'I'm going to sink this' (ship)
He's a sink king shit
@Hfd678vcdg ... and that's how twitter became a sinkhole
Pandora's box has been opened a long while ago. we are f*cked
The Andrew, formerly known as Prince.
That's not bad, though it kinda feels disrespectful to the memory of Mr. Nelson (the other former Prince).
Always good to hear from Hostus Mostus
Epstein and Twitter in the same episode?
You gotta be good to NOT ruin my day with this one 😂
The way Lutnick is saying nannies in "my wife whats with me as were my 4 children and nannies" creeps the fuck out of me.
Also interesting how he says he left with his wife and all his kids, but doesn't mention the nannies then :P I sort of think he sold them to JE that day
But Lutnick didn't mention IF the "nannies" left the island!!!!
Also if they are “family” it sounds bad
@Josef12056 it’s a suspicious piece of information to leave out!
Also, just so you know, he mentioned the ages of all the children he had with him in his email... creepy as hell
When Elon walked in with that sink, I took it as a sign he was intending to sink twitter.
I've just seen that intro for the first time and I love that they included german TV legend "Bernd das Brot"
nothing better than John Oliver right after getting up, I am already late for work, but boy it's worth it
Same here. I could still make it but I'm still watching and it'll be worth it
Still got 10 min left and by then I'll be too late to blame it ON traffic 😂
Which is why I’m watching this at work
I stoped using twitter 10 years ago.
It is a welcome change.
moin
Guten Morgen!
They mentioned a while back that for many non wealthy countries (like Mexico where i am) full episodes would be released on YT for free, while in places like the US and UK main topics would be free on YT but full episodes would be on HBO/HBOmax, that Oliver and the team had to hash out a deal to let that happen
Korrektur: dies hier ist die Staatsräs0n Ecke 🇩🇪 🤡
Thank you as well. I feel compelled to post some Digital Independence Day links :)
Honestly: the "why" matters here. What those people did should be stigmatised and we should not be satisfied with anything less.
SAY THE LINE JOHN!
"....what can we do?"
As Stephen Fry once put it and i’m paraphrasing: Twitter is this swimming pool with the occasional turd in the corner” with El0N at the helm it’s a pool with an industrial sewer pipeline unloading toxic sludge into the pool and nearby streams
Yet another full episode on RUclips!!!! So happy with this! :)
Touch our children, naughty, naughty; touch our money, right, straight to jail, do not pass GO, do not collect 200.
And... Mandelson is under arrest too now. Things are moving in the UK.
6:40 Uh, was this episode written before we knew about the cannibalism thing?
I hope the EU bans Twitter - this segment should be mandatory viewing for our members of parliament!
I hope EU crumbles
So many times I watch this show thinking « the US is a shitshow, I hope Ursula is watching this taking notes ».
@theshadowman1398 and i hope russia does
@theshadowman1398 if the eu crumbles every country in eurooe is fucked. brexit proved that.
@avgikyriazi1186 she's not. She isn't all that different politically than the US administration. She just happens to be a bit smarter ...
Much love and respect to John Oliver for putting it out there. ❤
UK government in shambles because there might be some connections to Epstein.
Meanwhile US
the US government has been in shambles for a while now. Between tantrums, Truth Social, Twitter/X and the Gulf of Whomever, padding the pockets of pharma companies and nepotism, there's little time left to govern.
got to keep up with the dirt on republicans, dont forget to check republicans for the dirt on demcrats tho
This is why the world can't be a nice place, there will always be the worst of us doing the only thing they know: being the fucking worst.
35:40 when the Ketamine kicks in 😂
The royal family is deeply sad for the unfortunate accident on former Price Andrew, next thursday
I know this sounds crazy, but I definitely saw news broadcasts stating that he'd died in prison. Obviously, they were fake because all the names are already out, right?
@darkblonde4791 it is a joke, for now
Correction: Trump files feat. Epstein and friends! 😂
files courtesy of Trump, so you are right to give him the honorary. He is the guy who reported Epstein to the FBI
@RorschachRev sure he was, better inform him about that, so he can say from now on 😂😂😂
His luck is his BFF probably prohibited any video record of their "special" secret parties, so aside from some photos (not destroyed), the FIB only had the testimonies from the victims, but not many concrete proofs to open a case against him!
Yeah, you nailed it with the Venn diagram 😂
Redpillers are worse too. Mysogyn and crazy.
The parsnip did bring a tear to my eye. That was lovely.
TV hosts drinking on air!!! This would be absolutely forbidden in the country of wine: France. I’m shocked 😳
C'est peut-être pas plus mal que les infos n'aient pas le droit de faire de la pub, a fortiori pour de l'alcool ;)
(Et on n'a pas besoin de ça pour être un pays d'alcooliques.)
The show today was exceptionally good. John Oliver is always sharp ❤
Holy shit that parsnip is huuge
"It's a great rosé", while drinking white wine: America at it's finest :)
It blows my mind that there are still people using Twitter post-Musk. To call it an anti-intellectual, right-wing, supremacist cesspit would be too kind.
In Bangkok its Monday morning, so this really feels like work, or a lunch break where I don’t get to leave.
The biggest difference between British English and American English is accountability.
That's an impressive level of untrue. Even in the John Oliver comment section.
@dubaniewnosie4091 Ah, you’re the one the meme refers to in the phrase: ‘Welcome to the internet. Someone without a sense of humour will be with you shortly."
@Verschal mocking systemic impunity for abuse is just not within my scope of funny
@dubaniewnosie4091 So what is your cooping mechanism then?
@Verschal compassion
"mhm it tastes different at 6:35 am in the morning" LMAO IM deaaaad usually these people dont start drinking until the lunch break
In my Kindergarten in Germany we never had the doors locked wtf :DDD
Because the risk that some frustrated freak might storm in wielding a military weapon is rather slim here.
I think it's normal now outside the drop off/pick up rush time.
Reading at a Kindergarten every 3 weeks. I have to be buzzed in after stating who I am...
When I was in Kindergarden myself (bout 36years ago), we also had a locked door
To be fair, this is the country were male nutters with guns love to shoot at children, so...
If Elon wasn't a billionaire he would be sectioned. "Millions of synapsis in your mind" and not nary a one is firing in his 🤣 404 error
Thank you. It’s not just the teenage/kids that are to vulnerable by social media. We need a regulation of the platforms.
*too
When I heard „daycares should typically have a locked door“, my first reaction was: „no? why would they?“ because in Germany, daycares do not need to be locked and that is completely normal.
Yeah, watching this from Finland like "...what?"
@zephie531that is the reason for doorhandles at adult eyesight height… where the children can’t reach it
same here, I was so confused - why would it be locked? such small children can't reach the handle yet. but it was to keep dangerous people out.
EIon's melt-brained glitching in that interview is giving strong "child coming down from dental nitrous oxide" vibes.
"theres trillions of synapses in your mind"
said in an envious tone
given the fact, his own brain
does not produce as much
Trump is still picking people involved with Epstein for positions.
His biggest regret of his first term was hiring some people with integrity. They all turned on him.
As an European i love watching this as entertainment knowing I don't have to deal with this shit daily.
Ya think? What about European right-wingers? They do get their inspiration from X aka Bulgarian teenagers making a bit of Cash.
This was posted before watching the episode, right?
As a fellow European, your nativity is astounding.
Stephen Colbert is proud of you, John.
To be fair, lots of European countries have started moving their gold out of the US
It's not even european gold. It's stolen from the colonies. Europe doesn't contain that kind of metal
@opionatedverymuch Yeah because no one other than the Europeans have ever taken anything by conquest since civilisation started...
18:52 This is also happening in Facebook. Despite my constant efforts of blocking political posts, I kept getting recommended content for known pedophile defenders like Kristi Noem and Pam Bondi. When you factor in the Epstein deal, it makes sense: they're all part of the same child rape club.
Meta/Zuckerberg is fully signed up to the Trump agenda
@bhoops13 Trump Agenda = zi0nist Kabala group
I appreciate the correct pronunciation of Minas Tirith
Does he look like someone who would pronounce it wrong? I mean... Look at him
Every accusation a confession. X is paying the agitators.
Didn't they use tax to get Capone?
We will never stop talking about this! Keep up the fight, John!
My fav part of the week!
Daycares in the US are locked?
Oh man. Happy to live in Scandinavia.
I am a Finn living in Italy and I am happy that the daycare doors are locked. At least the kids don't get out... That would be so scary! 😨
Since you use that word, i'm sure you don't.
Most swedish daycares have their doors looked to make sure the kids dont run away
As someone whose - maybe possibly - terminaly online, I can't help but think this episode is like 3 years behind.
USA is really a corporation's game of monopoly.
DISinformed, but yeah, I agree.
elon turned twitter into exaclty what he was worried about when he took over
You know when you're looking at the pole you have to avoid, and unconsciously steer towards it?
@IlBiggo no....i think he knows exactly what he is doing. his "worry" was just the justification for the changes. he is evil
There is no left wing bias, people in power and their simps are just way out there on the right.
That is factually inaccurate. The US politics has radicals on both sides.
1. You're right
The rest of the world laughs at how the US views "left and right" 😂😂
And if it ever had any left bias, certainly not now anymore. Now it's mostly Epstein Class State Media as Trump's billionaires buy it all.
Thank you John for this excellent piece.
Elon's synapses stopped firing😂
They can't eat us all!!!!✌️👈
Thank you John Oliver!
I left twitter/instagram/facebook years ago. Never had tiktok or any other shit like that. I'm only on YT for videos and WhatsApp for communication and I can tell the detox have been incredible
Whole episodes on YT is so HBO Pro Super Max and I like it.
a south african immigrant sitting in america fanning the flames in uk is insane
The Internationale of Racism
I'm very pleased the whole episode is now online. is this HBO's very light protest against the Lump and its minions?
The reason tv is behind is bc they (usually) do fact checking. Libsoftiktok doesnt even understand what a fact is.
Don’t use the Nazi site.
Bluesky?
@GildedZ Nah, he's referring to Twitter
@GildedZlow effort ragebait
@GildedZPfff.
Yes please! No excuse to still be on there!
im glad i NEVER had a Twitter account!
seems like i dodged a huge sh!tbullet!
same mate
The COLOR of American wine... what the fuck
what a generational refresh.
see you next week HAHAHAHAHA
I just saw this video being played at the ICC in Hague. This show is really famous globally!
What were you doing at the ICC?
