Kalandra is from Norway and has beautiful songs. I can recommend their music video "Borders". For another Nordic siren you should check out Eivør - Falling Free (Live at the Old Theater in Torshavn).

Glad you liked it! I appreciate that you caught the intensity of the song. They're one of my favorites.
If you liked this, you'll probably also like their song "Borders". Most of their stuff fits into whatever genre they've made for themselves here.

Oh also, Wardruna feat. Aurora - Helvegen for some Nordic Viking amazingness.

You cant go wrong with Kalandra and their live performances are often better than the studio versions.
Check out Lullaby. Brave new world and
    Grizzly Man.
The loop sequence on this one reminds me of Raga in minor scale with
    Ravi Shankar and Philip Glass.
I love the dynamic and the kind of vibrato in the end sounds like clasical Persian vocal technique.
It's not easy to put them in a box
but they gives me Folk Prog vibes.
If you want to check out some more Norwegian band I will recomand Leprous and Wobbler.
Check out Running Low and Five Rooms.
You just got yourself a new subscriber🤘

Yay!! More Kalandra please!! Brave New World (live at Kulturkirken Jakob) or Borders (official music video) are my favourites!!

That is just ridiculous (in all the best ways). That thing Katrine does with her voice, I just want to give her a big hug and thank her. She is phenomenal.

Aurora, Kalandra and Eivor are three absolutely fabulous artists/Groups from Scandinavia. (Kalandra and Aurora both from Norway) All are so very special and creative. Glad you have discovered two of them. Eivor should be up next.

@@I_scribbles Angelina is a great singer but is losing that Nordic feel as she becomes more Americanised.

Wow ! Very interesting ! I was caught up myself also with a paintbrush full of paint in the air, not being able to go on with my job. Nice vibes and composition. A mix of Aurora playing with a proghich band. My taste for sure. Thanks Brandon for exploring with us ! The musical word for an instrument making a repetitive line is call an “ ostinato “. In this song tho, it’s more called a sequencing loop or sequenced part. Got to hear them again! ❤

Kalandra's sound is such a cool mix of Scandinavian folk, indie, and prog. Always cool inventive compositions, intelligent meaningful lyrics, and a dreamy melancholic vibe. I just love them. Katrine Stenbekk's voice is incredible. Their debut album dropped a year or so ago and it's fantastic from start to finish. Highly recommend Borders, Lullaby (live at Storas), Brave New World, Helvegen, Virkelighetens Etterklang, Grizzly Man, and Ensom. You won't find a bad Kalandra track. They've crafted a sound very uniquely their own.

Recorded inside a viking Hall is really cool. Overall stunning performance. Fitting analogy you made - Once got caught by an undertoe swirling around and losing grasp of up and down only to refind sense of direction when my head grazed the bottom. Managing to reach the surface in the nick of time to catch a lifesaving inhale was a thrilling almost sacrimonious experience. Got a similar feel here.

A fabulous group led by Norwegian singer/songwriter Katrine (Ka-treena) Stenbekk. Beautiful voice, very similar to Aurora’s. The live performances of ‘Borders’, ‘Brave New World’, ‘Grizzly Man’ and their stunning cover of ‘Helvegen’ are all must-listens.

While I like this live version of the song, the Official Music Video version of it, created by Ragnarok Film and Valkyrien Productions, has the added class of having great Nordic Noir visuals.

If you like the build up here, you would also like the build up (and the drop) in Eivør - Falling Free (Live at the Old Theater in Torshavn). And her amazing voice as well.

How do I buy a skip the line reaction?

    • @tnae
      @tnae  Год назад

The easiest way is to use this link (www.paypal.me/thatsnotacting). There are two "tiers" or levels to it now since I've been a little busier. You can send $20 which will get you a reaction of your choice (under 8 minutes for a music video and under 15 minutes for an interview or compilation) and I will deliver in 15 days or less. You can also send $35 for the same but I will get it published in 3 to 5 days.
I also usually recommend that you email me first (brandonscott@thatsnotacting.com) just to make sure that I haven't seen the performance you'd like me to react to before. If you don't care if I've seen it or not then that step is not necessary.
I look forward to hearing from you.
