Buying a house site unseen happens often here. When I visited, I got an idea what the houses were like so when one came on the market after I left, I bought it without seeing it except in pictures and my realtor had a walkthrough showing me with his phone. It was exactly what I wanted and I only saw it a few days before the closing. It was even more than I asked for.
Picked out three designer homes on The Villages web site.. Came up from the Keys, looked at two,(found it), back to the office made an reasonable offer (deposit) ..Back to the keys, bought the house(after the inspection) all on the computer..In THE VILLAGES, you snooze you lose...
If you watch Ira Miller's RUclips Channel. he takes videos for clients, and sometimes the clients buy the homes after seeing the videos. Of course you would need to put a lot of trust in an agent to do this.
@@lauralampe1664 The key word is trust. I’m more of a hands on guy. Hopefully we will do a lifestyle visit and check out some homes. Then we will wait for the market to settle down and go from there.

Hi Jerry and Linda: Came across you blog by accident and have fallen for your channel. My husband and I are semi-retired (Agriculture/Wisconsin) and have no plans to relocate in Florida but just watching you two young Senior Citizens and your humor has me smitten. ;) We love the Daschund.....was our first pet as a new married couple 45 years ago...great memories. Keep the blogs coming...you two are a hoot! We will see you when we get there...if we ever do. Thanks for the fun...Jerry and Linda. :)
Thank you for your videos and for inviting these very nice guests with various backgrounds and goals. I’ve enjoyed listening to yours and their insights. All the information is very useful and helpful for someone who is considering to retire in Florida eventually, like us. Please keep up the good work.
Chad and Jennifer are very much like my husband and me, except I'm the real estate agent and the talker (unless my husband has been drinking, and then that's a different story!). We are closing on our Villages house in Citrus Grove in July. We purchased sight-unseen, and are planning on being a "snowflake" couple until we retire in a few years. In the interim, it will be a place to go, relax and unwind, enjoy the amenities, and have access to the surrounding benefits that Florida has to offer. Found Jerry and Linda by accident, but love them, and hope to meet them when we visit sometime soon!
Sooo much GREAT information. Thank you Chad and Jennifer for giving your time. Again I appreciate the great questions from Jerry and Linda, you are so intuitive in asking the right questions. So crazy that Chad and Jennifer bought a house sight unseen and still pulled the trigger. Side note: For Jerry, me and the wife have to turn and just listen to your video when it was on you guys due to the pulsing video. Chad and Jennifer video was fine, so something with your camera (young eyes).
Watched this video on the day you posted it and there was already over 8700 views....WOW ! You need to have RUclips add some advertising on it and make some money with this type of following...keep it up! Also, thanks for the great information !
Linda and Jerry! You were correct! We are having a BLAST! So much so that we are closing on our new home in St Catherine in June! Thank you for all your videos that taught me so much about the area and lifestyle. Watching them inspired the dream and we felt so comfortable when we arrived here last Sunday! Heading home to CT tomorrow (don’t want to go home) and your moving videos will be invaluable. Bless you both ❤️
THANK YOU for this!! We are 5 yrs out from Retirement but seriously considering purchasing a home sooner to use as our vacation home & to rent out. Seriously looking although I wonder if we should be right now in a seller's market. 😳 This video is perfect timing for us!! 😊
I enjoyed the interview! Getting the prospective of the Villages from people of all demographics is a great tool & asset for those of us who are either, just watching & enjoying your videos, or for those having/making, serious considerations about moving to the Villages. I appreciate & enjoy all of your videos & I've gotten my husband to start watching your videos too! We are still a few years from retiring, but we find the information from your videos is crucial for making a decision about moving to the right location in the Villages &/or even to that part of the country, either before or very soon after retiring. I look forward to seeing more interesting videos that show all of the lovely (& not so lovely) aspects of living in the Villages. God bless you Jerry, & Linda! ( & Gizmo too! )
Thank you Jerry & Linda! I live in the Northern Nevada area close to Lake Tahoe (elevation of my home over 6200 above sea level) & we have very low humidity. Altho But, both sides of my family are from the deep south. But, I have not "lived" full time/year round in extremely humid areas. Did either one of you have difficulty adjusting to the increased humidity & heat in the June through September time frame? Also, during the seasonal peak of the humidity & heat, did the "adjustment to that heat/humidity take 1 year or more than 1 year for either of you to adjust or, have either of you, not really completely adjusted to the heat & humidity? 🤷🏼♀️ Thank you! Renee
Interesting interview. I’m always interested in different perspectives. All I can say is, this is an awesome opportunity in our retirement years, for us to live an active and full life, and to have fun too! We are counting the days!
Thanks Guys! What a sweet couple, great info. Sounds like they got in at just about the right time. Big concern is the cost increases with prices and materials across the county doesn't matter were you are located, too much money chasing too few supplies. Be nice to see it all just stabilize rather than things continue to escalate in costs. Might just sit back and be on the fence and wait and see, just depends. If supply can catch up so things level off but then again who knows?
Great interview....Jerry & Linda how many people do you know that moved to The Villages because of your videos? The homes there in The Villages are starting to be expensive but then real estate property is high everyway..... Thank you
Good video - thanks for interviewing them. Everything I see points me to the villages - I want to know the bad things about the villages - the horrible things - interview people who hate the villages (if you can find them) and are leaving! - For now, your videos helps me realize I'm going to end up in the Villages. I will be there in July to experience the heat! Renting different homes over six months in different parts of the villages. Will look at different properties when there. I have the "villages fever!" Always enjoy watching your videos.
You are wise to rent in the summer months to see how you acclimate to Central Florida's heat and humidity. I will be in The Villages in July also. I have visited The Villages every month except March, April and November. If you can tolerate The Villages' weather in July and August, the rest of the months should be a piece of cake.
Great show! Thanks for all of the info!! I still want a golf cart to just get out and drive! I live in Northwest Florida. Traffic is too cerazy here. I would be scared and I dont think they are permitted anyway. Oh well. Hopefully see you someday! Keep up the good work and the Amazing videos. Gove Giszmo a hug for me❤❤❤❤👏👏👏👏👏
They both look too young to live in the villages. I would have liked to know the time line when they were thinking of moving. As I am thinking of buying before moving as well.
Nope not too young. We are 59, but would like to think we look younger than that. I think they are close to that age. We too bought unseen and are not planning to retire for four yrs. Investment property for us and snowflakes too. When you sell investment property at home, you need to buy something to avoid capital gains, what made us buy, but we LOVE it at TV. Can't wait to spend more time down there.
LOL, love it. When I eventually get there, I will be a flaky snowbird. I will be there full time, but I have oodles of family in Georgia, so I'll be visiting them often. Plus, I'm sure the kids will come "visit" as they stop over for Disney and Orlando trips once they have family in central Florida. Win win win!!! Thanks Jerry and Linda for a GREAT interview!
Good price point on building up north Jerry, and don't forget, up north we have the benefit of a basement / cellar, or as we say here in Mass, a cellah.
Hi Jerry and Linda another great Video. If I move to the Villages I don't plan on being a Snowflake :-) Going to send you an email later this morning with a question.
VERY interesting interview. It seems that his wife is quite quiet and a little terrified, so I think she's very brave to come along. Good for them and blessings to them both!
Lovely couple. She looks like a Barbie doll. He’s a salesman so he’s a talker which is fine. Don’t waste your money on a pool home. Not worth it. My niece and nephew have a massive pool along with a massive home and the upkeep is astronomical. $2000 just to heat it for the season which is nuts because the weather is so hot and humid. Then there is the insurance and maintenance. Yes, I love them as well, but.......your house is so beautiful and Linda adores it, right Linda?
Another interview I would like to see is - maybe not so happy of a video, people deciding to move into assisted living - their reasons, obstacles, and options. On another note, I see a lot of homes that are "turn key" (furniture included) - I would like to know the reasons why sellers do this, death in family, moving away and not worth moving the furniture?
I can answer that, being a "snowflake" ourselves. We have a condo in Sunrise Fla, but we are like this couple, back n forth a few times a year. We were told by the permanent residents, that snowbirds stay down for the winter, snowflakes are back and forth.
I could probably get more than the asking price for my place, so in a way most of it's relative. Get overprice for your house, pay overprice for the one you move into. Only "The Village's" in a way has you over a barrel during this particular real estate market. Like the man say's..."The Village's is a bubble".... "Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God". So perhaps waiting for this to pass is one option. We aren't getting any younger, but the speed in which this inflation is accelerating could cause a family to hit the pause button before making such an important decision. Suddenly all the "amenities" that the village's offer are fading. Maybe the Village's people should remember that we are all senior citizens and recognize greed. All one has to do is look at the same house in the surrounding communities that is listed much, much lower.
