    Love the way you explain each of the tools and why you use each medium. Great supplement to the new book.

    I have both "How to draw" and "How to render" and I have to say they are awesome books to learn from, along with these great books you also get access to a lot of very instructional vids which coincide and expand upon the books contents, I would recommend them to anyone interested in art/drawing as they are guaranteed to help artists at almost any level really.
    Any signed sketch/drawing will suffice for this endorsement Scott, thanks. ;)
    Seriously though, you are an inspiration to me, thanks man.

    brings back memories of art school comps, before computers and color printers.I really enjoyed markers and vellum paper too, color pencil and whiteout for highlights was good enough !

    Great video! I loved it, Scott!
    I'm a freelance illustrator and I never used copy markers, but that looks amazing, I generally see the Chip Foose using this medium for design their cars.

    Scott, do you think you could do a more in depth video on how to properly place active highlights on spheres, cylinders, planar forms, and complex forms? I have been going through your how to render book and find the topic still a little confusing since the light source is very far off the page. The page just feels like it glosses over the topic. Thanks for creating such amazing books!

      The videos should help to inform that knowledge I hope. In short the highlights on a reflective surface occur where the light bounces off the surface back to your POV and vice/versa. It's like playing a bank shot in pool or basketball. Getting really good at predicting these bounces can be helped by observing them a lot on cars or other shiny surfaces.

      Scott Robertson thank you for the advice. I have been trying to observe all kinds of surfaces and there active highlights. I will be diligent in my observations and just practice.

    Sir what is the ball pen are you using?? Bic, Stadeltor ball pens usually smurge with copic, Pls recommended some good ball pens that don't smurge with copic

    • @jimmygrey6848
      @jimmygrey6848 6 лет назад +1

      There aren't any ballpoints that wont smear with copic, trust me I've tried them all. Best you can do is Hi Tec C pens or technical liners. It's not smearing in this video because he is rendering on a photo copy of the drawing.

      It's on the cover of How To Draw, which means it's online so just print one out. You can find a ton of other line drawings to pick from on my Art Station page. www.artstation.com/scoro

    Copic markers are too expensive. My God!

    • @scottrobertsondesign
      @scottrobertsondesign  3 года назад

      True, but if you draw small they can last quite a long time and they are refillable. That said, they are still expensive.
