Valhalla vintage reverb is one of my go to, not always but quite often. I was a big fan of the MIDI Verb II, with all of its flaws, and the Valhalla vintage gives me the closest to that hardware. I still have the hardware, but it’s a pain in the ass in my small studio to use. I also sometimes reach for Waves CLA Epic. There are a few presets in there that I start with and I really like them.
Fair, consistent, and moderate pricing points + community focused, minimalistic team driven by Sean who is just an incredibly talented, yet humble dev + No soulless industry buzz words, or in your face marketing + Letting the quality of the product simply sell itself. = Valhalla DSP. Objectively the best reverb tools on the market. Thank you for coming to my TED talk.
It does, I just upgraded from essentials, cost about $111 to upgrade from essentials. A bargain for a mega 480 emu. I couldn't do without Relab LX480 and Seventh Heaven Pro. The entry-level Seventh Heaven is very good too. I like both of their approaches in offering affordable but very good quality easy to use entry-level versions. More plugin developers should mimic that path. And stop the subscription BS. AVID is the worst, even the Avid Pro Tools Artist, and is crippled at a just not enough 32 audio tracks. Then with NO upgrade path, and have to go with subscription, apart from the odd retailer that has perp licenses ... for now.
love Pro-R2 as well! one tricky thing that is really ESSENTIAL imho is the stereo control BECAUSE it changes the way the reverb is calculated and while putting it in mono, the reverb keeps a lot of details and character while being totally mono. This is really different sonically than making the return channel mono (either with utility plugin or with pan pots).
I recently bought Valhalla Vintage Verb after seeing some demo’s of it. It’s reasonably priced and it’s great to give that mid-80’s production style sound to FM synths. Another reverb that I like is the feedback reverb in multi-effects plugin from Korg’s legacy collection called MDE-X.
i remember him saying he doesn´t like spring reverbs. but yes i can´t live without spring and this is a good one. also the kazrog, the u-he and the psp, all very diffent but good. and don forget the R2´ s ability to import spring IR´s and tweak them - so much fun.
I know my hearing isn't close to perfect. I probably wouldn't even notice a 128kbps MP3. But the fact that you can hear what reverb is being used on music is next level to me. I've got ValhallaRoom and I love the sound, but I would never recognize it in the wild. Especially because it also has a ton of algorithms. Hats off to you!
A few of my reverbs are: Relab LX480 V4 Dual Engine, D16 Group Toraverb 2, Melda MReverbMB, SSL Native FlexVerb, Slate Digital Verbsuite, LiquidSonics Lustrous Plates. Possibly more.
It does, except for Plate 140. That is one seriously underrated reverb. It does amazing things to synths. Anyway, anything from LiquidSonics is amazing.
The titel of the Video is : My Top 3 Reverb Plugins - how he can forget an Reverb Plugin then if he limits himself on 3 plugins from his own opinion???
There are a few reverbs where setting them to early reflections only can really enrich an instrument's sound. Sonnox's Oxford Reverb is a favourite of mine on pianos. Another reverb can be added for tails.
I have some of those mentioned plugins but I hilariously enough am very often drafted towards picking the Studio One stock reverb plugin. Sounds very decent and quick to dial in!
I use eareverb 2 A LOT. I do a lot of small-scale projects with orchestral stuff for local churches and businesses, and I really like that I can place different channels on a virtual stage and have the plugin calculate things. It really gives some great sound when the recording environment isn't great or if I'm doing some minor scoring work and want to have a "this was recorded live" feel.
My drum room is insanely small so natural reverb is out of the question. Sound city is my go to on all of my drums. It just sits everything in a real sounding space. I love that thing!!
My favorite trick with sound city is to send all my drums to it pre fader and then bounce it and just treat it’s as a room mic with my drums because the room I record in is small and doesn’t sound great
@ that’s a great idea, I do something sort of similar. I have a pair of ribbon room microphone, just far enough away and baffled so it calms the cymbals down and I feed that pair into sound city. I’m going to try your way next time. 👍🏻👍🏻
My favorite reverbs are: 1) eventide ultraverb: super versatile, mostly use it on individual track 2) bettermaker bm60: glues mixes and different Instruments together super smoothly 3) PSP spring reverb: not for every track, but it gives a super funky and natural sound on guitars, drums etc 4) ik multimedia (farm stone) studio reverb(s). As a hiphop producer, i need good, versatile, natural sounding drum reverbs, and these are just that (Got them together with a bundle for very cheap)
i like that shirt ! i think the point is not to overuse reverb and first to learn your stock reverbs then buy only a few good ones instead of hoarding loads of reverbs and suffering from option paralysis. I agree on R2 and the UA, not so much on the Raumzeitmaschine.
As someone who just wants a straightforward reverb, the Arturia Rev Plate 140 is incredible. Love that thing. For a reverb completely different, more digital, I love the Waves Manny M Reverb, which is based on a Bricasti M7. Sounds fantastic as well. The others I own, which aren’t many, were a complete waste of money to be honest.
Best reverb I’ve ever heard in my life. Is Sunset Sounds Studios but alas, I don’t have an IK multimedia subscription 😢. Big fan of liquidsonic plug-ins though.
proR is really cool, I think it's really easy to use!👍 I also like Stratus, it's a very underrated reverb hall. And it sounds really good! sonnox reverb is also incredibly good but very complex to use, not for beginners!😉 The TC electronic DRV 250 and 8210 are also great. But my absolute favorite reverb and hall is TC electronic vss4 reverb, it's one of the best sounding reverbs and halls!❤️😍🔥🙃
1. Relab LX480 → so many options, dual engine mode, delays. This would be my desert island reverb 100%! 2. Liquidsonics Cinematic Rooms Pro → if you want a clean and real sounding reverb, this is it. 3. Liquidsonics Seventh Heaven Pro → if you want that soft, warm Bricasti sound. It definitely has a sound. 4. Liquidsonics Tai Chi → Imagine Valhalla Vintage Verb on steroids! Super lush sounding reverb with modern twists. 1+4 are lush sounding, 'artificial' reverbs. 2+3 are realistic sounding 'real spaces'. If you picked 1 out of each category, you would have everything you'd ever need. I would pick the Relab 480 and Cinematic Rooms Pro.
I have quite a few I haven't even tried properly yet, like exponential audio from NI supposedly great and sound kinda great but feels you maybe need to have sort of engineers papers to operate them. The same kinda goes for Neoverb, but I'll have to revisit it some time (when I got time). A lot of people mention Raum, which I kind of always forget I even have (thanks NI for these endless bundle deals). I think even Ableton stock plugins like reverb and hybrid reverb (IR) do a pretty decent job for most tasks, and then seems each VSTi already has their own reverb which work pretty well in their own sandbox , like Vital, Pigments, Kilohearts plugins (Phaseplant) to name a few. I just try them first and if it sounds good (like they do most of the time) then I don't look for anything else for that specific sound. It also seems like pretty much every plugin suite now has their own reverb like Shaperbox etc. so you're kind of spoilt with too many to choose from...
You should definitely check out reverbs made by AuroraDSP - Invisible and Rotten Pool. One is sounding that you don't hear a reverb, but you get more more "space". The other one is dirty and saturated (I use it in metal mixes a lot). I guess you already know which is which ;) Another one I use a lot is Little Plate from Sonarworks. I love it on the snare and even sometimes on the vocals. It's really simple to use and get things done quickly. Thanks for the great video!

2CAudio Aether. The most flexible customizable true stereo reverb, it has lots of presets (extensions) for different purposes, (music and post production) with convenient preset search system and highest sound quality (with 2x and 4x oversampling options). If i had to keep just one reverb plugin, it would be Aether, without a doubt !!! On monitors with large resolutions, its default size is quite small, but it has HD skin options, that make it look very large, but it better than the small default size. It is no longer updated (latest update is v1.6.1 : 04/28/2015) and only in VST2 format, but that doesn't make him any worse. P.S. This is my personal opinion, maybe i'm wrong 🤫 .

Back then, they had discovered real plate verb, and it was overused on everything for a long time. Now, folks are either using reverb that can’t be heard (until it’s gone), or they are using only delay for depth. Verbs like Pro R, in the current environment, are overkill. MTurbo Verb & MconvolutionMB, These are the 2 plugins I use for all of my mixes. Melda FTW 🙌
Arturia Rev-140 is my favorite reverbs to put on my vocals. Just sounds amazing
Relab LX480. Even the essentials version sounds absolutely amazing.

I bought the Raumzeitmaschine after I heard you demo it. I absolutely adore it, thank you for the recommendation 🙏
I sold mine...I use the plugin now...same algo and I do not need the Tube Snake oil...
@ Of course you did.
Accurate. Valhalla is great for vintage synths, indeed
UAD Capitol Chambers is also very good. And the Arturia Spring reverb is probably the most realistic spring I’ve heard.
i remember him saying he doesn´t like spring reverbs. but yes i can´t live without spring and this is a good one. also the kazrog, the u-he and the psp, all very diffent but good. and don forget the R2´ s ability to import spring IR´s and tweak them - so much fun.

Let me mention : Izotope Aurora and very new in LogicPro the Quantum Room simulator ! Not to forget the Sonible Reverb !
White Sea crushing it on the content front. Interested to see what's on the list!
Sound City is my go to, for drum ambience. I prefer the corner setup, ala Stan Lynch.
That blue 90s preset or whatever it’s called KILLS. Such a useful and surprisingly fun plugin
A few of my reverbs are: Relab LX480 V4 Dual Engine, D16 Group Toraverb 2, Melda MReverbMB, SSL Native FlexVerb, Slate Digital Verbsuite, LiquidSonics Lustrous Plates. Possibly more.
Everybody mentions Valhalla Vintage Verb, but imo Valhalla Room is a real sleeper verb. Yes, it's more of a one trick pony, but so is La-2a
You forgot about the best reverb - Cinematic Rooms from LiquidSonics. Sounds way better than the ones shown in the video.
+1 to this one. My go-to as well
It does, except for Plate 140. That is one seriously underrated reverb. It does amazing things to synths.
Anyway, anything from LiquidSonics is amazing.

i tried it but always had a hard time getting something I was happy with for music. I do like HOFA's IQ verb and seventh heaven though
@@prodby430 Let me give you all the time you need to figure your question out.

That sound city plugin is absolutely amazing.
Really love your work! U r my favourite mixing engineering channel on RUclips ! Happy thanks giving 🎉
Recently I've been blown away by the following: UVI SparkVerb and UVI Plate. Especially Plate. I have finally found the Plate reverb which is perfect.
If you like plates, I definitely second UVI Plate. Extremely convincing authentic plate sounds, but can also be taken into weird territory.
I have some of those mentioned plugins but I hilariously enough am very often drafted towards picking the Studio One stock reverb plugin. Sounds very decent and quick to dial in!

What about airwindows K series? I've read Chris nailed the best plate algorithm so far... also the Coat series is superb!
VSS3 - I got it a few years ago, and its top class. On orchestral stuff, and vocals , great plate algorithm. I demoed a lot of them before I bought.
My drum room is insanely small so natural reverb is out of the question. Sound city is my go to on all of my drums. It just sits everything in a real sounding space. I love that thing!!
Right! I don’t have that one, but I use Fame Studios or Sunset Sound Studios from IK Multimedia
@@luvitluvitbabyme too. I like pretty much all ik mumtimedia reverbs. Especially the plate reverb, give that a try on the snare :)

I use Raum and Superplate. I will check out that Smart Reverb AI reverb.
Glad the Raumzeitmaschine is getting some love - bought after your video and is go to reverb, alongside pro-r2 as well.
What do you think of Altiverb ? Don’t know if you tried it.
Quantec from Logic X 11.1 is unbeatable. No emulation but the original algorithms from the Yardstick 2496 and QRS Room Simulator.
TSAR-1 by Softube is my secret weapon, it sounds great on everything. But don't tell anyone. 🤫
Ik gebruik ook de Fabfilter .en Valhalla. Maar begin nu meer hardware reverbs te gebruiken de Sony v77 en Roland srv330 die klinken veel beter 🙂

ProR2, soundtoys superplate, Capital Chambers
Good stuff. Have you had a chance to check out Soundtoys SuperPlate? Just wondering whether it's worth upgrading to 5.4.
I basically agree of your choice! I just add Altiverb or Avid Space
Blackhole, Capitol Chambers, Aurora, Raum, SuperPlate
Blackhole, SuperPlate, Aurora (CPU hog..), Lexicon series, etc...

Hey, have you tried the uvi plate? It's similar to pro r but has a great plate sound.
+ highly tweakable. And I love the sound. Best plate plugin in my opinion.
do you use reverb plugins as an insert or a send? if a send, how much signal do you send?
Soundtoys SuperPlate should be getting all the love

Still the best reverb for realistic space, with Bricasti M7, but not the same purpose.
Tegeler not far behind.

Love Valhalla room. Their delay great too.
I love the Eventide SP2016........... That position slider does some audio voodoo.
2CAudio Aether. Sound City Studios is really excellent. The guitar cabs, although there's few of them, are actually really good as well. Hey Wytse, 2 years ago i did a huuuuuge reverb tryout/comparison taking the following parameters into consideration: mono compatibility, ease of use, "mojo"/flavour, "automation compliant" (meaning no artefacts/clicks when changing parameters via automation), tweakability, latency.
Top of the list were Altiverb 7, Flux VerbV3, Pro-R, Valhalla Room, Relab LX480, Arturia Rev140, Sonible Smart Verb, Valhalla Plate.
I have a google sheet with all comments and scores in each category of parameter of analysis of all these + many many more (42 reverbs tested in total).

raum the easy and fast all around, black immersive the nicest, softube tsar very nice on small reverbs, lex226 uad for string, guitar, voices
I’m a big fan of liquidsonics. 7th Heaven Pro is my go to.
Liquid Sonics 7th Heaven Pro.
I heard about seventh heaven (bricasti M7) on some prods and it sounds good
Pro R 2 is my jam.
Also ReaVerb
do you find the RaumMaschine VST is as good as the hardware now you've spent some time with it?
id like to know that too. would you compare the hardware to the software please...
Apple just dropped a new native Logic one and I think it will be a big contender too... it's called Quantec Room Simulator.
i still love TC VSS4, it has such a spacious sound that stands out beautifully as a feature on its own, it's irreplicable imo
Interesting choices. There are sooooo many great reverbs, probably a list of ten wouldn’t cover all of the really good ones.
Valhallaroom is my go to. No matter the source.
Raum by nativ also nice
My favourite reverb is Acustica Silver A.
No no no, buy ALL the plugins you can, look at the lovely graphics and turn some virtual knobs. Always have fun!!! Never enough plugins!
You forgot the old but trusty Altiverb...It was the standard few years ago...
LiquidSonics Seventh Heaven Pro for me
Tai chi reverb is very nice
LiquidSonics Seventh Heaven, Valhalla VintageVerb, Altiverb, LX480 almost all of them
If you are looking for a Spring Reverb, Pulsar Audio - Primavera is what u want.
Your German surprisingly good!
The only plugin I bought so far this week for Black Friday week is the Safari Pedels Camel for $4 ….which is basically free 🤷🏽♂️
It's not exactly a reverb but Silencer by Wide Blue Sound is pretty sick
Give things like Cinematic Rooms or Altiverb a try.
Raummaschine was announced to never ever go on sale again after the buy-the-cat-in-the-bag pre intro offer.
SSL Flexverb for bread and butter
IK Sunset Sound and Fame for vibes
Voxengo Old School verb for 80s
Blackhole is great
I was an aplogee mand but now I have an Apollo I have coverted to UA
Deine Aussprache ist sehr gut :D
Raum for creative reverb
I prefer the UAD Lexicon 224 Digital Reverb
