Gordons wife worked with the speaking chips in a previous job. Cameron was pushing to make the machines more relatable, Gordon was obsessed with making it portable. They had all the tools they needed to make something better than the Macintosh, but they didn't use them. Didn't see the forest for the trees, were obsessed only with machine speed. This show hurts to watch at every turn.
Agree. This show should have been the biggest show on TV for nerds, but it just wasn't. I didn't know about it until it was off the air. For me as an 80s kid, literally _everything_ about this show was great.
This is when Joe realized that the Giant wouldn't leave a mark in the history of computers .... And that's why he burned an entire truck filled with them down.
I think "Up Helly Aa" is a front-to-back perfect hour of television. This is truly what the entire first season is building up to, and there are pivots and turns, and reveals every few minutes, and it never feels as though the episode wastes a second of its time.
This is probably my favorite show in the last 20 years. If you care about computers at all, this show is an absolute must watch. The acting and the story and the nostalgia and all that goodness, it's absolutely top notch. It's like if someone amazingly good at making TV shows was inspired deeply by Pirates of Silicon Valley and then made a drama series in that same style, only at an amazing level of quality. Another amazing show: The Offer. Also didn't get nearly the recognition it deserved.
Thanks for the recommendation buddy. Just finished the first episode of The Offer and man I am so surprised I haven't heard of this before. Respect man.
1492 Columbus sailed the ocean blue. The room number. Romeo and Juliet Act 2 Scene 2 Balcony scene. “She speaks”. In this scene “It speaks.” Coincidence, no. Clever script writing and visuals.
They spend the whole season working, plotting, scheming, creating a product to challenge IBM and other like minded competitors. Meanwhile, Apple was making something that would change the industry forever.

This show needed more marketing. And maybe a more welcoming title. I can’t believe how underrated and not well known this show is.
The wonderful thing about this is that it's the fact that it will always be timeless, and any era can watch it for the 1st time.
No way, the title is perfect and badass

Funny that they put candles around it. Almost a satirical comment about how we view the personal computer.
Yeah like a cult 😮
Anyone else noticed the number on the door?

while the mac was a revolutionary machine - apple has never had more than 13% of the PC Market and as low as 8%
You mean, copying ten-year old Xerox ideas.

He had the good sense to buy an Amiga instead.
