    I watched a LOT of Norwegian train videos, mostly yours. It must have been an enormous task to bore holes thorugh mountains and build bridges over deep valleys for the railways. I can't imagine the resources needed to do all that work.😗

    RailCowGirl, if I understand correctly you drive this route every few days. And yet, I can understand that this is not something you can be tired of. The scenery is so beautiful, with changing weather and seasons, light and dark, that each time you drive it is a new experience. And the tunnels have their own magic. Great to watch.
    (Only drawback, maybe: they seem to be building more and more light metal tunnels in the higher areas, which reduces the views. Is that because of the snow, to minimise the need to clear the track?)

    • @RailCowGirl
      @RailCowGirl  2 года назад +2

      They are not building more. They removed the old wooden structures and built new ones in steel.

As for northern lights I also heard Sami legend saying that when winter fox go hunting, she sweep snowflakes from the hills with her bushy tail. And these flakes are shining during the long winter nights. Thats why Sami called northern lights with a word: "Revontulet" which means "Fox Lights".

    At first, I was thinking-she's not going to take the El 18 again-. But then, that is impossible, since you are driving freight trains. So you went around (scary face to the EL18) and found the locomotive in a corner. I know of this spur. I read the book about it. A few things to pick out: low clouds nearly all the way to Myrdal; the reflections in the lake near Vieren; the buck, nearly escaping the train; and a rabbit crossing the track in Hol. When watching this, one would not epect the sky to clear up, and see the Northern Lights later on. And: it seems, no ride goes without a signalling failure. I enjoyed this trip very much. Thank you. It was very worth while waiting. Excellent.

I really wish we'd get with it in this country. Thank you for sharing this great video clip. It must have taken a lot of time to create it. 😊 I was wondering if you have a house in Oslo, Al and Bergen where you stay over while you are waiting for your next trip?

      No, my employer provides housing when I'm not at home. You can also find more information and answers here: www.railcowgirl.com/faq/

    Awesome. Never seen aurora in my life, only noctilucent clouds here in Czech Republic. This part of Norway is beautiful, even more Rallarvegen on a bike - there are no tunnels :-) and camera quality in the night is outstanding

      You mean like the ones I did on the Flåm Line?
      The side windows on most of the locos I operate now are heavily tinted, so it would be almost impossible to do the side views

    1:33:18 I didn't realise that you had those cable cars over there, snow areas yes, but not in a town, that's awesome.

      Voss is a ski area. This cable car goes to the top of the mountain where the ski slopes start. Check out Voss Resort Bavallen if you want to know more.

    2:52 I don't see the ATC interface. Is it integrated in the front screen? Or do you have it as an STM level while using ETCS? Greetings from Italy 🇮🇹

    • @RailCowGirl
      @RailCowGirl  3 месяца назад

      integrated as STM with ATC interface on screen, the readout for train data is through the normal programming of the ETCS + option for ATC. :)

      @@RailCowGirl Interesting, thanks for the reply. Can the 187 also go to Denmark or is it only limited to Sweden and Norway?

    Didn't have the time when it came out, but your latest excellent video didn't disappoint, either. Beautiful colours in all weather, time of day or season (and we had multiples of each of those in this video).
    I noticed that the view is now as smooth as when you drove passenger trains. Did you use some kind of stabiliser? (Sorry if I missed an announcement to that effect.)

    And She drives through tunnels , at various speeds, keeps the windscreen, so We can see, so when She gets out the other side , She creates a gust of wind, in those beautiful trees.

    I’m back on my exercise equipment this time with the rail trip. Just finished Seattle, Washington to Washington,D.C. a road trip. Like the graft at the start that maps out the different elevations.
