I'm sure I'm not the only one who was thinking, right at the beginning, "What is she doing in the Bergen passenger area". But it was just a long green train in the way of where she was really going.
Wow thankyou again for the trip and the Northern Lights. RCG your trolling went straight over my head until I read the comments, he he. Well done and thanks also for all the info you put up. Cheers
I watched a LOT of Norwegian train videos, mostly yours. It must have been an enormous task to bore holes thorugh mountains and build bridges over deep valleys for the railways. I can't imagine the resources needed to do all that work.😗
Thank you so much for the new Bergen Line video! After 24th February (Russia's invasion) I hardly watched anything on RUclips besides news dealing with the subject. Now I am "back to life" and have enjoyed your trip. With my engineering background, I found very interesting your info on technical things, such as "last mile diesel" and the like!
Thank you for dimming your lights at 3:52:45. Doing so gave us a better chance of seeing the Lights from your point of view. I live on the 38th parallel in North America. We never see the Aurora Borealis unless the sun was to do something absolutely crazy!
You were the first of these type of videos I started watching and you are the best. Thank you for your hard work editing these. They are great on their own but your edits make them even better.
I agree with all regarding the beauty of the footage. With the northern lights, it's a piece of art. But hey, RCG, thanks for the humorous moment at the Bergen platform. I thought "what...?!? getting on the Bergensbanen, and not as a passenger??" until that big grin popped up.
Your commuter videos (and now freight) from your beautiful home country transported me into my interest in Rail videos. Im so pleased to see your still creating them. Such soothing stuff, I use them end of day to relax. Ive never been to Norway (😢) but my father had.. and your channel makes a personal connection to his life and being there. Thank you RCG (aka HCG that was🙂)
RailCowGirl, if I understand correctly you drive this route every few days. And yet, I can understand that this is not something you can be tired of. The scenery is so beautiful, with changing weather and seasons, light and dark, that each time you drive it is a new experience. And the tunnels have their own magic. Great to watch. (Only drawback, maybe: they seem to be building more and more light metal tunnels in the higher areas, which reduces the views. Is that because of the snow, to minimise the need to clear the track?)
My grandson loves watching for the piston affect with the fog, he especially likes it when you exit a tunnel and the trees and bushes real close to the tunnel move
That is one of my favourites as well :D The piston effect is awesome. And it is always fascinating to see how much air is pushed in front of the train. :D
Beautiful, just beautiful. Thank you for sharing this trip. I think this one and the one with the disappearing woman (sorry don't remember the actual name) are my favorites. I look forward to the next journey you will take us on.
Ah, the land of a thousand and one tunnels. Love the video clarity and color saturation, and great iris work keeping proper light level in all conditions. Thanks for sharing your hard work.
Marvelous! If I had a waiting room in a doctor's office, or auto repair - or anywhere I didn't want to have to wait in a room with others, I'd have this on full screen! Everyone would be mesmerized they'd hate to stop waiting! (OMG your pause in Voss for a thermos refill was priceless!) ... Had to stop there to comment so far. Anxious now to see the rest! Fantastic job RCG!!! ❣
Another brilliant video. Thank you very much. A lot of snowshed rebuilding in metal going on, I see. Also a lot of new wood for repairs in the other ones. I imagine the metalwork will save a great deal on the regular maintenance to the snowsheds which must take place every summer. It must be a never-ending job for the maintenance people.

Awesome video and really gr8 camera brings excellent night picture! As for northern lights I also heard Sami legend saying that when winter fox go hunting, she sweep snowflakes from the hills with her bushy tail. And these flakes are shining during the long winter nights. Thats why Sami called northern lights with a word: "Revontulet" which means "Fox Lights".

At first, I was thinking-she's not going to take the El 18 again-. But then, that is impossible, since you are driving freight trains. So you went around (scary face to the EL18) and found the locomotive in a corner. I know of this spur. I read the book about it. A few things to pick out: low clouds nearly all the way to Myrdal; the reflections in the lake near Vieren; the buck, nearly escaping the train; and a rabbit crossing the track in Hol. When watching this, one would not epect the sky to clear up, and see the Northern Lights later on. And: it seems, no ride goes without a signalling failure. I enjoyed this trip very much. Thank you. It was very worth while waiting. Excellent.

They were more daring in the old days when they did not just think that something had to earn it's own cost in just 25 years ...
Only the newest tunnel between Bergen and Arna is drilled, the rest was made the old way using dynamite.
They also weld the rails together, so that there isn't the constant clickity-clack.
