This is like a defining moment in American history. Decades from this point, we'll look back and say, "That was when the Republican Party imploded, children. Take notes."
Actually I now see the Democratic Party imploding with Bernie Sanders still fighting Her Highness the Hildebeast for that party's nomination. The Democratic Party is really the political party of liberal idiots like many people who are commenting on this RUclips video.
It's amazing because this is already happening 2 years after your comment. You were 100% right. People are now pointing to Sarah Palin as to when the Republican party started to shift into what we have now.

And despite these interviews effectively ending ole "mama grizzly's" chances at being elected to anything else, she walked away from them thinking that she'd hit a home run.

Palin: "Well... Um..."
Really? That is a "gotcha" question? What newspapers do you read?
They never asked Obama that question
For her position, the answer really would matter
The didn't have to
LOL, "Alaska is a microcosm of America" What a twat.
@@TELEVISIONARCHIVES That's because Obama was an educated man. Palin was ignorant and backwards.
It feels like she had prepared answers, but she completely messed everything up under pressure of someone, who's actually a proper journalist.I mean she couldn't have just said I don't know anything about foreign policy, but you can't say that when you're a politician right.
Looking back on this now, I’d say John McCain would have been president if he didn’t pick Palin.
And I can see why McCain didn’t want her at his funeral.
👏☝️💯
I don’t think he would’ve been president. Bush’ popularity at the time of the election was in the 20s and most people associated McCain with Bush. The republicans were at a very low point much like they are now in 2021
I think people forget how charismatic Obama was. McCain picked Sarah Palin because he was trailing in the polls. If they found the right running mate it certainly could of helped but it’s hard to know.
I really like SNL and Tina Fey and Amy Phoeler
If I could be polygamous I want Tina Fey and Amy Phoeler
Her answers reminds me of how ppl generally BS during their job interviews, usually very generic replies. LOL It's so hard to watch it without cringing...
YESSSS HAHA, SEE MY MOST RECENT COMMENT OMG LMFAOOOOO
Schmidt: "Oh my God, what have we done?"
just watched that movie ) damn its hilarious
Sarah Palin in an adversarial relationship with words.
***** Hats off to you, reporters like you are the true unsung heroes of America, showing the people the stupidity of their representatives.
And she isnt considered a tough reporter...
@@mauricepowers8079 really? I'm not familiar with reporters/journalists... who would be an example of a tough reporter?
@@mauricepowers8079 I thought that Couric was always known as a tough interviewer: consistently well-prepared, asking tough questions that don’t leave much wiggle room.
I think McCain messed up with picking her for a running mate
its was Steve shmidt
You think!?!?!?!?
He wanted joe Lieberman but the gop didn’t want a Democrat Vice President as part of the gop ticket, they wanted a woman so they can counter Hillary Clinton and gain some female voters. John McCain never wanted Sarah palin but he was forced too
It wasn't really his choice. He wanted Joe Lieberman, but Lieberman turned it down plus the Republicans wanted a GOP VP not a Democrat.
If he had picked Rice,he would had won
I remember watching this when it originally aired. What really dumbfounded me was that she wouldn’t even answer a simple “what do you like to read” question. It was maddening. And she was chosen to run as VP - the second highest office in the US - and she’d never been out of the country? Crazy.
And she said that was a "gotcha question". "What magazines do you read?" is a gotcha question? Seriously If you had really read magazines like you said, just say which one. If you were lying about reading magazines, just name ANY magazine. Surely you at least knew the name of a magazine. Just say Time, newsweek.....".
At this point of the interview it was clear to Palin that Kaitey was acting unprofessionally and working for the Obama campaign; she was trying to illicit gaffes that she could demean Sarah with.
@@joshuatexas
You’re joking, right?
@@57andstillkicking Yeah he is being sarcastic.
Chosen because Hillary bowed out of the race and so McCain's campaign thought we women would vote for her because we had anatomy in common...
Katie Couric.... you are one of the BEST journalist, and a Global News Anchor that i have ever seen on TV.
My respects, and my best wishes to you and to your loving family.
Thank you very, very much for your pure professional work.
I'm not high enough for this
I think if I ate 60mg of edibles I would have a panic attack watching this. I'm embarrassed for Palin
This is embarrassing to the point of non-belief, I was literally waiting for Ashton Kutcher to jump from behind Katie with an MTV camera crew.
😂😂
"What magazines have you read?"
"Most of them...all of them...any of them."
What's wrong? Is she afraid to plug "People"?
Gawd! I miss those days where journalists weren't afraid to ask hardball questions. Thanks, Katie Couric, for exposing this fraud.
Julianne Moore did a really good job playing her in "Game Change." The movie really makes you dislike Sarah Palin. Not that many people need much help in disliking Sarah Palin.
Totally agree with you. She portrayed Sarah Palin perfectly -- the voice, mannerisms, comportment etc.
Nailed everything about Sarah Palin so perfectly. Julianne Moore is an incredible actress!!!
Watching this after the SNL parody, i got confused as to which one was the real interview. Lol
And poor McCain (RIP) twiddling his fingers and squirming in his seat as he slowly realized in that interview the big mistake he made.
That's what I was thinking
This is like a defining moment in American history. Decades from this point, we'll look back and say, "That was when the Republican Party imploded, children. Take notes."
Actually I now see the Democratic Party imploding with Bernie Sanders still fighting Her Highness the Hildebeast for that party's nomination. The Democratic Party is really the political party of liberal idiots like many people who are commenting on this RUclips video.
Hah. hahahahahhahaha. HAHAHAHAHAHAH yeah, the GOP sure imploded when they rigged the primaries and lost the election... oh, wait
Iisdabest889 that's why the there's more evidence that it was rigged in favor of the GOP. Oh wait....
It's amazing because this is already happening 2 years after your comment. You were 100% right. People are now pointing to Sarah Palin as to when the Republican party started to shift into what we have now.
@@jerryn.1823 👏👏👏👏👏
It is absolutely incredible how air-headed this woman was. Perhaps still is.
The fact that Katie Couric was able to even hold a semblance of decorum during these interviews just proves her position as a true, die hard, American journalist, tactful, gracious, insightful, challenging, and extremely inspirational means EVERYTHING. Palin is so pathetically under the respect that Couric is. I feel so bad that she even had to be compared to this embarrassment.
That train-wreck lasted 28 minutes?
@Digby Dooright And THAT was just the prequel.....
The ACTUAL is worse and has lasted for much longer!
I'm sure it felt like 3 years to Sarah.
Eeeaarrrgggghhhhsssscreeeech!
(Sound f/x of a train wreck.)
And despite these interviews effectively ending ole "mama grizzly's" chances at being elected to anything else, she walked away from them thinking that she'd hit a home run.
Yes but they were broadcast on tv over a few days so each day a new installment hit
Great interviewer, follow-ups are precise and challenging when required (ie when Palin skirts around the point). This is a skill that is now sorely lacking in MSM today!
Palin on Canada and Russia: "They're in the state that I'm the executive of." Holy crap!!! I don't know who mangles the English language worse: Palin or Trump.
😂😂
This is what happens when we don’t push for public education- Real history, civics, math, real health nutrition, science, and economics 101.
I will watch this once a year for the rest of my life
time for the annual watch.
Thanks Katie.very good work.
"Alaska has a very narrow maritime border against a foreign country, Russia"....maaaan this aged really well😂😂
Thank you Tina Fay and also a big thanks to SNL for actually making "Sarah Palin" look like somewhat competent in those sketches. 😨😨😱😱
Jesus it's still tough to watch all these years later. The McCain team must have been squirming like no tomorrow.
Palin sounds like a mensa compared to the past four years. Poor Sara was out of her league then and we did not heed the trend that began with this type of vague generalized statements that tell the listener nothing.
I watch this clip at least once a year. It’s soo funny. I can never get through it without pausing for laughter. “I’m going to ask you again, not to belabor the point but do you have specific examples...?”
Evil and very stupid. A dangerous combination.
+CharethCutestory I don`t think Sarah Palin is evil. She`s simple, ignorant and misguided for sure, but she doesn`t strike me as malevolent.
+Mister Anthropy to incite racism during the 2008 campaign is every bit of malevolent and promoted violence against blacks and Muslims. The intolerant temperature much like now was dangerous not only minorities but Obama and his family.
Just like the piece of inbred shit we presently have in the White House!
Evil? You're foolish
Miss Teen USA 2007 - South Carolina answers a question
I really don’t know of anyone who can match Katie’s preparation, understanding of issues and communicative strengths.
She was not ready.
5:24 😂 LMAO Katie's smile was like "she's really a fuckup but I'm not gonna say it out loud" so patronizing in retrospect
God I thought SNL was joking
I'm here because of Game Change, great comedy I highly recommend!
Me too!
I just finished watching the movie....8 years later. Wow.
@@Yesu44 lol, I found the movie to be entertaining in a comedic sort of way, but also found it fascinating how someone like Sarah Palin could be allowed to run for Vice President.
Ty 4 telling y ur here I really wanted 2 know
I wonder what they would have done with her if John McCain had actually won? Sat her in a room next to the Oval office with a colouring book and some crayons for four years?
What else could McCain have done with her? LOLOLOLOL
Same thing they did with Biden. Enlighten me on what he accomplished.
That is priceless! And what's worse is it's true!
@@theflash1508 secured a job for his son as son as the U.S. backed coup in Ukraine was finished. Biden likely worked behind the scenes for Big Finance (as always) and advised Obama agains the public option.
Isn't that kind of complicated?
Looking back, this reminds me of my son's first girlfriend.. I was watching "The World At War" documentary. She watched it for awhile. She then commented, "I thought Japan was our friend".
👀👀👀👀
Good to know your son has his priorities straight😆
Haha!!!
You sound like an amazing mother-in-law...
I’m conservative and this made me LMAO! 😄
OK, good to hear from another conservative who found several parts of this interview incoherent. (I did agree with her on some small things, though.) I could not help but laugh at the irony of Palin praising McCain for taking stick from members of his own party, given how she has degenerated into a Trump-supporting robot who threw her great friend Senator Ted Cruz under the bus when he didn't toe the new party line.
After watching "Game Change," I had to watch the full interview to judge how accurate the movie was. Looks like it was spot on.
Omg!!! I watched the movie and I had to check these interviews out....SPOT ON. Omg
Katie Couric talking to a blade of grass.
They were BOTH so phony... he was talking behind her back and she was pretending she knew wtf she was talking about...and he was pretending SHE KNEW what she was talking about. 🤣😆
In life some people are Mavericks
The most riviting and influential interview in the history of journalism!
Ahhh the good ol' days when you could actually enjoy watching a politician say a bunch of words strung together..... I watch this on a regular basis; it is 2019 and it is still as "exciting" as it was back then.
you betcha
LOL, Perfect
It’s all gone, I miss it very much😂 it’s very entertaining, at the same time it expose the candidates real qualities and qualifications!

Good lord, Sarah has fear in her eyes through this interview
So many words and absolutely nothing to say. She was a phenom. One can almost hear the marbles rolling around that pretty head.
