@@SawyerRidgeFarm You could possibly make it a kit even if you had to find out what width and height to cut the frame pieces. For those without tools, finish then ship. But, for those of use that can, at the least, glue and nail, just ship the pieces labeled A through Z with a basic drawing and minimal instructions. I would buy the kit for sure.

instead of making it more narrow, you could insert a strip of wood into the slot as a spacer to narrow the track but keep it flexible for larger can if needed.

When making cabinets my dad used a tack cloth to clean off the wood instead of water. That way if the wood was prone to turn a different color with water, it kept that from happening.
You can also use a tack cloth between polyurethane coats (after a light sanding). This makes the finish look like glass.
I remember being responsible for those steps when I got older... I did have to pass inspections between steps!

I plan on making one like that on rollers. I want it to cover an entryway into a cupboard I plan on making in the hallway right beside the kitchen. The bedroom closet is really large and not needed to be that large, so I plan on putting in a wall to divide it in half and putting in a wall to close off the back half. Then I will make a doorway thru the hallway into the back half of the closet. And to close off the doorway (and hide it) will be a rolling shelf like you made here for cans. I could put it on rollers so it can be rolled to the side so I can enter the hidden pantry where my preps will be stored. If I add trim around the bottom it won't be obvious that it has rollers, etc.... Thanks for showing us how to make this. It's a perfect idea for covering my hidden pantry entryway! Stay safe!

    • @ChibiChula

I was personally thinking of making one short but long one for the back and two half as long for the front then joining them together so all the cans face inside and the two shorter ones open outwards like a cabinet. It would need some really strong hinges but that way I could hang it on the wall or attach a nice top to the back one only (that covers the front ones too, obviously) and use it as an extra work surface.
Heck, now that I think about it, you can turn that into a thin kitchen island maybe, if you build two cabinet style ones and place them back to back. He said it's about 4 inches deep, give or take, so four adds up to about 16 inches deep (maybe 15 inches if you eliminate one of the back panels and build the two in the middle as one piece) , and if you give it a top with a few inches of overhang, it would make a decent work space. If you add some heavy duty lockable wheels at the bottom, you could even move it around quite easily. Hmm... might be interesting for those with smaller kitchens. 😅

Jacob, you guys did an outstanding job with this. I'm very proud of the way you have transformed yourself. One added suggestion I would say, if you have a closet you don't use offen. You can build it into the sides or into the back of that closet. That would conceal it from prying eyes and incorporate more long term storage without taking up a lot of room. You could make every closet, along term pantry. LOL . Next vedio project could be a well organized root cellar, concealed up in the mountain. Like a hobbit house. Digging into the mountain for it, would keep the food nice and cold. G-D Bless you guys.

The solution to people that do not want to see the cans is to just simply put a door on the front

That's great, and looks fantastic. Lots of positives to that thing. All those cans would take alot of space in a cabinet, not rotated likely, and it's easy to see what you need as your walking out the door to go to the grocery store. A good way to keep at least that much on hand in the event of a natural disaster, civil unrest etc, especially living out in the country. You know, it also wouldn't to hard to build a cabinet door to cover it too if someone wanted to do that. So if you're having a house built, have your cabinet maker make you a door and put matching door pulls on it. Super cool idea. A+

These are really good as narrow "pull-out pantries" with top and bottom draw-slides~ take up about 6"/150mm and the depth of the adjoining bench cupboard 24"/600mm. Really efficient use of space

Excellent way to store canned food and keep them rotated properly. You wouldn't believe how much we've wasted by throwing away expired cans by finding them in the back of closet.
Another simple project from you to the world, I thank you again sir.
