  • It was 2014 when Mark, a resident of Atlanta, GA, realized after a round of golf that something was wrong with his right wrist. Diagnosed with scapholunate advance collapse (SLAC) by a local physician who suggested wrist fusion, extensive research led him to Dr. Scott Wolfe, chief emeritus of the Hand and Upper Extremity Service. He learned that Dr. Wolfe had been co-developing the first total wrist replacement implant that truly replicated and allowed the complex motions of the human wrist.
In April 2021, Mark became the first patient to receive the KinematX ™ wrist implant - the first that allows natural motion between the radius arm bone and one of the eight bones in the wrist, which will prevent the loosening that has plagued other artificial wrists. Hear from both at the time of the procedure and learn how Mark is doing over one year after surgery.
