So here’s what I mean: Suppose every character was not playable from the start and you had to unlock them. In this hypothetical setting, completing each level under certain conditions will give you a set amount of coins, and you could spend these coins to unlock characters, skins and other items. In the Apple Arcade version of the game, these prices would be fairly low and reasonable to grind out in an hour or two. In a version that’s NOT on Apple Arcade (or any other subscription service,) the prices would be jacked up tenfold and you’d only have a few days to buy specific characters before the marketplace resets it’s stock and now you can’t buy Rouge in a pirate costume for another six months. The non-Arcade version will “conveniently” allow you to buy coins with real money instead of repeatedly playing the same level for 12 hours in a row with diminishing returns under an arbitrary deadline that “conveniently” would NOT be present in the Apple Arcade version. But Pariah, surely this game WILL indeed come to Windows PC... You might just have to *sail the seven seas* in order to get it. *Don't get scurvy, now.* ...Yarrrr.
I literally have the same love/hate relationship with this game. On the one hand, it looks fucking awesome and what I've wanted from Modern Sonic for a while. But on the other hand....it's an exclusive on a device I don't even have. So I either have to miss out on it completely (which I'd hate) or buy an Apple product specifically for it which also sucks.
I spoke to a friend about this earlier. We concluded to not get some Apple device and hope this game gets ported elsewhere. On top of that we are hugely skeptical on the quality of the gameplay as we barely have any idea on what it's all about due to the little footage we got.
IKR I'm about as excited bout this as much as I was when superstars when it was announced & I'm not saying it turned out bad but some people I think aren't sold on it still🤷.
LMAO I had no idea what you were talking about until I realized it was about Dream Team Okay, I just finished the video, I was DYING through the entire vid, that was great
I really REALLLLLY do hope this game is sorta like a greenlight test for Hardlight to have their own big 3D Sonic project especially with all the resources they have done with their other mobile games. It would be the best to see a Hardlight developed 3D Sonic game fully realized for consoles! Make them use their monetary mobile game crud model skins and use it for a REALLLLL Sonic game.
SEGA simply releases a trailer for a totally unique 3D game with a beautiful art style similar to Sonic Mania, with several playable characters, everything we wanted in a Sonic game.... and they say that the game It's exclusive to Apple Arcade. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
In the comments of the reveal trailer, somebody pointed out that this is Cream's first new render in over a decade. Her last one was for Generations. Isn't that crazy? I've wanted to buy all the Apple products for a hot minute, not because I love Apple (I actually hate them voraciously), but because that is a unique, different ecosystem which I want in on. In short, I'd use Apple products for the things that only Apple products can do, and nothing else. Play this game, for instance. I've previously joked about this game "I guess it's time for me to buy a Macintosh". It actually looks good! What the heck?! I really, REALLY hope that it'll be an accidental timed exclusive. Like, they're intending for it to be an Apple exclusive now, but demand will make them cave and port it elsewhere. I hope that happens. I also hope the game is as good as it appears. It's entirely possible that, since this is running on an iPhone, that it's smaller and slower than we really realize, on that platform, at least. Of course they'd use Mac or iPad footage for the trailer, say nothing about the iPhone and other Apple platforms. To imagine we were hanging out on stream yesterday! And we had no clue this was coming! Could you imagine what would've happened if you'd chosen to stream just a day later? This is crazy. I wonder what the alternate universe where Sega still exits the console market, but Apple's Pippin is successful, looks like.
Im on the same boat as you are, except, i have no problems with looking or waiting for an illegal way to play something, if you force something into a console, system or whatever you want to call it, that im not interested beyond this one thing, im going to go the pirate route, and i don't like doing that. But i don't like to waste money for one thing even more

This is a Sega Hard light project (the team behind mobile games like Sonic Dash and Sonic Forces Speed Battle) and they have been from leaks and statements they made worked on this for a while.
This is almost exactly how I feel about this. Me and 99% of Sonic fans want it on console and PC. I mean this is a game Apple needs for Apple Arcade because most games in that service don't look that good. But still, this should not have been exclusive to that service.

Apparently this is where they go it. Jokes aside, not sure why in today's day and age we still view "mobile games are trash" mindset.
@@technicallyinept2120 I mean by Sturegon's law most things are. But my point is there's so many massive games that can run on phones now. Things have come a long way in 10+ years.
The Mobile game stigma mostly comes from the fact that originally did no one want to pay for games on there phones (real gamers stayed on DS and PSP and casuals didn't care) making traditional game sales system very ineffective while it was discovered that Freemium models worked far better to entice the most casual of audiences. Than did Casino companies learn about it and used all of there psychological manipulation tactics from there casino business to create gambling dressed up as a video game to get past censors like "Raid Shadow Legendes" which both proved to be successful enough to create even more copy cats of this strategy but also toxic enough to further cermet mobile game as being just a casual capturing "Freemium Hell" of a platform. Touch screen controls also remain unpopular to this day which certainly doesn't help.
Shantae and the Seven Sirens was originally an Apple Arcade exclusive but eventually released everywhere afterwards, so this shouldn't be too big of a worry
I already have an Apple Arcade account, and I find it really funny how worked up some people have gotten about this. Me personally, I don’t really care. It’s a mobile game, so I don’t have the highest of hype. Find it absolutely hilarious that I think this mobile game has a way better trailer than the trailers for Frontiers
The third Steven Univserse RPG called Steven Universe: Unleash the Light was an Apple Arcade exclusive and it released on Steam and consoles...Like 3 years later
Well in this case its properly because they needed a counter part for Knuckles (you might have seen that Amy is back to being really fast to be girl Sonic while Cream flying around as girl tails and Rouge is the only viable option for Girl Knuckles really.)
Just FYI, there IS a game that used to be an exclusive to Apple Arcade breaking free of the service that i know of: Exit the Gungeon. It released on all main platforms about a year after it's original release. So there is a precedent of that happening. But still, yeah, it sucks that this game looks really cool and as far as we know it's locked to a dumb mobile subscription service that people barely even use.
Something I have seen next to nobody mention about this game is that it sort of looks like Sonic Speed Simulator. You know, the Roblox thing that mostly 5 year olds play on their iPads.
Lots of apple arcade exclusive games have come out on other platforms. Shovel Knight Dig came out on Switch, PC, and Apple Arcade at the same time. Shantae and the Seven Sirens came out on console a year after the Apple Arcade version. An Android version is unlikely, but other than that I doubt this game will be locked to apple forever
They're gonna release it eventually to other platforms just like they did with Sonic Lost World. They can't keep it exclusive, it's a waste of money for them to keep it there. And besides, I don't think these exclusive platform contracts last forever.
There have been Apple Arcade games that have had their exclusivity lifted after a period of time, prime example being Shantae 5 which was an Apple Arcade exclusive for 9 months before receiving a multiplatform release.
2:19 What the Golf, Oceanhorn 2, Inmost, and Little Orpheus debuted as Apple Arcade exclusives before being ported to other systems like Windows and Switch. So there is a precedent, albeit one that seemingly hasn’t extended to long-running franchises like Sonic Edit: So as another comment pointed out, Shantae and the Seven Sirens did the same thing, and that series has been around since the early 2000’s
So...SEGA brings Cream the Rabbit back...with a cost. It introduces players to an open-world experience (barring Sonic Frontiers)...with another cost. The game actually looks like it belongs on the PS5 and the Nintendo Switch! After the great success of Sonic Superstars, they could've made this as like the "Kirby's Dream Buffet" of the series, where it's a smaller-scale adventure in a popular franchise, but unlike Dream Buffet, the only money Nintendo gets from it is when you first buy it, and that's it! No microtransactions to be found!
It sucks when there's exclusives for devices you specifically DON'T need. Like buying an Xbox for exclusives, at least you can play other Xbox games. But I don't NEED an Apple device, I have an Android phone. I've been considering getting an iPad...but if I already had a good droid tablet, I'd be stuck. At least consoles have enough exclusives that you don't just get the single redundancy.
To be fair, There’s plenty of sonic games that are single console exclusives. There’s so many sonic games I missed out on cuz they were on one console like Wii, or Wii U, or PSP, etc. As a pc gamer I can’t justify getting a dedicated console for sonic boom rise of lyric. Ik it’s a bad game but as a pc gamer I have to wait till a game gets good enough emulation to get it on pc illegally lol
The difference there is those consoles have other games that make it more worth buying so maybe you can buy some other stuff when it really comes down to it instead of just buying an Apple TV or a phone for one thing I don't know if I explained that good but I hope you get my point
@@hocus7685 you’re point is you believe sonic dream team will be the only possible good use for a iPhone or a Apple TV even tho Apple makes the best phones and Apple TV is a decent smart tv platform and I’m sure Apple Arcade has plenty of good games on it since no Apple Arcade games have micro transactions or any ADs.
@@Kiezly ? That's not what I'm saying at all I'm saying other exclusive Sonic games on other consoles are more worth buying on that console because usually the Wii or the PSP or the PCS have a lot of other games to offer you making it more worth

I'd say wait and see if the game is actually as good as the trailer presents it. It doesn't look terrible by any means, but it gives me Sonic Speed Sim vibes with some bosses added in. A neat little bonus if you have an Apple device but not really something worth paying for one just to get this game.
Shantae and the Seven Sirens did eventually come out on other stuff after 3 years of it being out and thank god fun fact that game was episodic and it was a metriodvania

I was wondering if you were going to make a video on this. Needless to say, i was ecstatic when this was announced. However, once i got to the end of the trailer, my joy turned to rage once i realized i won't be able to play the game for myself.
The NeverEnding Sonic cycle continues! 😂🤣
Sega:"Yes, this looks very good. Make it appel exclusive"
I like the design of the new character they're going to be adding. S/he seems cool. The aesthetics and name kind of remind me of Sonic Shuffle too.
I'm still mad of Sonic Superstars being 60$ + having Denuvo and Epic Games on Steam and now we have an exclusive.
LMAO I had no idea what you were talking about until I realized it was about Dream Team
Okay, I just finished the video, I was DYING through the entire vid, that was great
I really REALLLLLY do hope this game is sorta like a greenlight test for Hardlight to have their own big 3D Sonic project especially with all the resources they have done with their other mobile games.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
this gives me cybershell vibes, love it lol, good luck on getting the game bro
SEGA doesn't care about Sonic the fans do care
Im on the same boat as you are, except, i have no problems with looking or waiting for an illegal way to play something, if you force something into a console, system or whatever you want to call it, that im not interested beyond this one thing, im going to go the pirate route, and i don't like doing that. But i don't like to waste money for one thing even more
Pariah entering full sonic tuber mode
>Animated Cutscenes
>Bright open worlds (that don't look like an unreal tech demo)
>Multiple playable characters
Is a mobile game really gonna be the best sonic game this decade?
Also, CREAM IS BACK! LONG TIME NO SEE!
Now this looks like a Sonic game that can actually go toe-to-toe with Mario Wonder. It's got the esthetics and everything.
looked at the desc and instantly knew why
3 and a half minutes in and this is my favorite I've seen from you. I don't know why. There's something about your sense of humor that just really hit me...
Same
First video I've seen of his, known about him since 12 months ago around frontiers release but I just had to watch this one I knew exactly what he meant just by the thumbnail😂.
@@DuelSenseEdgeDrift. yeah I’m sure they’re gonna see it, the widespread disappointment of the game being exclusive. It was the entire comment section of the trailer on the official channel.
@@DuelSenseEdgeDrift.Honestly makes the best Sonic videos on the site. You should check out the Sonicwas always good series or his story videos.
guys, its not gonna stay on apple forever. this is sega, theyll milk all the money they can from it
the thing that concerns me the most is that it *LOOKS* polished
Cuz after Sonic Forces, i'm not sure that polished looks would mean that the gameplay would be as well-worked...
Also, it showcases a bit too early from Frontiers, could be that another team works on it....
It is another team
It's worked in by Sega's mobile game division, Sega Hardlight. They're behind Speed Battle and the Sonic Dash games.
This is a Sega Hard light project (the team behind mobile games like Sonic Dash and Sonic Forces Speed Battle) and they have been from leaks and statements they made worked on this for a while.
I dropped all expectations with sonic at this point
My thoughts exactly, it sucks so much ass that is this looks SO good yet exclusive to...apple 😢 it sucks....so much
This is almost exactly how I feel about this. Me and 99% of Sonic fans want it on console and PC. I mean this is a game Apple needs for Apple Arcade because most games in that service don't look that good. But still, this should not have been exclusive to that service.
I feel ya man.... I feel ya.... I'm angry too...
I have no concerns with missing out on this or even Superstars. This looks just *okay*.
Also, Colors and Lost world were exclusive to Nintendo platforms and those were “mainline” games.
@@luckyw769 the iphone is a phone
@@luckyw769 there's a difference between console exclusives from the most recognizable video manufacturers that sell millions of their hardware, and a pretty obscure shitty subscription service that nobody uses on phones alot people don't have.
Not to mention both of those games have been rereleased this is a whole can of worms entirely so this one getting ported isn't a given
Fair enough
@@luckyw769At least console exclusivity has a reason to exist. Making a game exclusive to a specific phone for absolutely no reason is just stupid.
"I'm so mad at this game that Apple funded that I will make so much content promoting it" is a very Sonic fan response lol. We always said Sonic games would be better with more funds and resources. Apparently this is where they go it. Jokes aside, not sure why in today's day and age we still view "mobile games are trash" mindset.
Because mobile games are still trash predominantly
@@technicallyinept2120 I mean by Sturegon's law most things are. But my point is there's so many massive games that can run on phones now. Things have come a long way in 10+ years.
Because they're still trash?
@@partyjams “Massive” does not mean good, though.
Cod lobbies don't insult me as much as the end of this trailer
I would always say to wait for more details before commiting to a Apple device of all things.
I definitely feel you lol, thankfully I have an iphone but still kinda odd they decided to go mobile with this though.
The third Steven Univserse RPG called Steven Universe: Unleash the Light was an Apple Arcade exclusive and it released on Steam and consoles...Like 3 years later
💥
Good to know that your'e furious 🙂
Also, that sucks for android users
Ah, THAT explains why this is Cream's first ever official appearance in over a decade...
The problem is this looks really polished unlike the main line sonic games😢
I don't like how Rouge is just a part of the main group now.
Same
yeah, that feels weird and out of nowhere
Well in this case its properly because they needed a counter part for Knuckles (you might have seen that Amy is back to being really fast to be girl Sonic while Cream flying around as girl tails and Rouge is the only viable option for Girl Knuckles really.)
@@rynobehnke8289I initially assumed it was because of prime, but that makes sense too
To make you feel a bit better, Shantae and the 7 Sirens was a timed exclusive for Apple Arcade, so there’s always hope
This game looks freaking awesome, my jaw just about his the floor when I found out it's Apple Arcade only. I'm baffled.
An Android version is unlikely, but other than that I doubt this game will be locked to apple forever
and many others have not, this is just maximum copium
@@mizzix Tell me a game that would make sense on console that's still exclusive
I mean so far did no Sega game escape.
It ether stayed or died fully.

5:34 Timestamp for Pariah’s feelings about Sonic Dream Team
The most MENACING title.
They're gonna release it eventually to other platforms just like they did with Sonic Lost World. They can't keep it exclusive, it's a waste of money for them to keep it there. And besides, I don't think these exclusive platform contracts last forever.
A Sonic game exclusive is enough for me to do the same. I’m typing this on an iphone so this time I have the platform for the exclusive.
Bro is about to make bank because he doesn't want to get the apple TV. Respects.
There have been Apple Arcade games that have had their exclusivity lifted after a period of time, prime example being Shantae 5 which was an Apple Arcade exclusive for 9 months before receiving a multiplatform release.
If this is how a mobile priority game looks like, maybe we should be hyped about the next proper game.
Sadly, I don’t think it will work like that.
2:19 What the Golf, Oceanhorn 2, Inmost, and Little Orpheus debuted as Apple Arcade exclusives before being ported to other systems like Windows and Switch. So there is a precedent, albeit one that seemingly hasn’t extended to long-running franchises like Sonic
Edit: So as another comment pointed out, Shantae and the Seven Sirens did the same thing, and that series has been around since the early 2000’s
Shantae Fans: First Time? Just wait like nine months.
Good thoughts, but having to hear the ad on loop wasn’t my favourite thing tbh
Amazing i love your genuine anger. Also i feel lucky being an artist that draws on ipad
As someone who has Apple Arcade, I actually feel really sorry for the people that don’t have AA. 😭😭
Pariah: I don't think any other Apple Arcade exclusives came to console.
Shovel Knight: am I a joke to you?
Shantae 5 was apple arcade exclusive and it got released to everything else later.

It must be something from a contract.
At least consoles have enough exclusives that you don't just get the single redundancy.
they really put this much work in a mobile game -_-
To be fair, There’s plenty of sonic games that are single console exclusives.
@@hocus7685 I know but that assumes Apple Arcade has no good games…
Shantae and the seven sirens was an apple arcade exclusive for 2-3 years then got ported on everything
You don't think there will be...OTHER forms of playing this game?
Arg, matey. Never heard of a skallywag having other forms of playing an Apple Arcade game.
Its gonna be an uphill battle with this one between being subscription based, only on Apples ever so locked down software and devices and properly have some additional anti piracy systems build in
@@MarkerMurkerARGH! We totally be them scallywags paying for the apple arcade, matey!

2:40 what sonic fans say after buying every sonic game , every piece of merchandise, every collectors edition , and literal shit with sonics face on it , just cracks me up seeing sonic fans suffer because of every little thing
I'd say wait and see if the game is actually as good as the trailer presents it. It doesn't look terrible by any means, but it gives me Sonic Speed Sim vibes with some bosses added in. A neat little bonus if you have an Apple device but not really something worth paying for one just to get this game.
Why is SEGA so afraid of Sonic finally succeeding?
My tiny ass iPhone 8 is gonna be pushed to its limits with this one
My iPhone 7 folds hard
I've never hated exclusivity this much. Even if I was an Apple user, having to pay for a subscription service to play a game is so dumb.
Shantae and the Seven Sirens did eventually come out on other stuff after 3 years of it being out and thank god fun fact that game was episodic and it was a metriodvania
why sonic team, why did you do this, uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
Just got a new phone in september and after years of using android device I got gifted an iphone 11 looks like fate was on my side. DW Pariah though making sure I've shared this video around so you can fund ur apple tv.
Ight bet im watching the ads fully, no skips.
you know hes mad when hes cursing every 3 seconds
How could they just casually make peak fiction and LOCK IT on the FUCKING iPHONE
Now console gamers can understand why we PC gamers hate Epic games store so much.
Hopefully they'll port it to Steam or Windows or something after a little bit.
