Hi im using your 4222 tactics with 4231 formation, all tactics and instructions same. Centre cam is on completely balance. I managed to get 14 wins first time in fut champs. Thanks to you.

Very different than that. I'd say go for this one if you're defensively very sound. Otherwise use 4222

Hi, yes this should work on old gen too.
Would the 442 (2) variation also work with this? I prefer CDM's on defence rather than CM's. I find the gap between defenders and midfielders become too big on defence when using CM's
So you can try 442 (2)
However, my advice would be to NOT to keep CDMs at stay back. That's why I used 442. If you keep them at stay back in 4442-2 they might not be readily available for quick passes.
But feel free to try, it can work out.

I tried with 442(2),its working like a charm for me..the key point like @PaulBrad said,is the CDM must be on BALANCED instruction..but very effective against 5 back than normal 442..

I use your 4222. If the 4222 starts to fail. What do you switch to?
If it fails due to opponents pressure then, use posession with 3421. Else try 41212
@PaulBrad Yeah, I've been starting with the 4222. But some opponent's like have like 6 attackers, and it's hard to stop them.
Yeah, in those case you can also try to change 4222 to balanced instea dof fast build up. That also works at times.
