Hey, to those who joined for the listening stream, thank you so much for the love and support, it really does mean a lot. You're the reason we do this stuff, and it's really validating and wonderful to see and hear how much the stuff we make means to you. Until next time!
Thank you and the rest of the team for the wonderful music, Jared! Not to mention the teams behind the games! It's awesome what you all have made and to see so many people come together to form a community around it
Sweet mother of one of Sam's elaborate non-sequiturs, I know that Narrator intro!! I remember ripping it from the files of the original 2010 version of the game something like 13 years ago. I never had any idea what it was supposed to be for, because it wasn't used anywhere in the game, so I just assumed it was for something that was scrapped from the final version. Turns out this entire time, it was for the soundtrack... which is only now being released, a whole 15 years later. Absolutely wild. Makes sense it was actually for the soundtrack, I honestly probably should've figured that initially, but seeing as it was in the game files (since why would something only for the soundtrack be in the game itself, or at least the files), I actually theorized it might've been part of some kind of music-based gameplay mechanic that didn't actually make it into the game. 🤣 Regardless, a 15 year mystery finally solved! Thank you Skunkape, both for the long-awaited soundtrack release and remastering my favorite game series of all time ❤
Some people on the Telltale forums probably guessed back in the day that it was for the soundtrack, but it's been surprising most people who encountered those lines didn't put it together. We're so happy to finally get to release the full soundtrack with those lines in the proper place.
the fact the soundtrack releases on my birthday 😭Thank you all so much for remastering this amazing trilogy and bringing back sam and max into my life ❤
these characters, this game and its soundtrack mean a lot to me (and many others im sure), and it makes me so happy to see it have a proper release after 15 years! the whole trillogy feels so complete now. thank you to everyone at skunkape, steve, jared and anyone else involved in making these games on this long journey!! youve made a lot of people VERY happy :)

Wow, now we get a cool video game with our music album! Jokes aside, this is so awesome. Perfect way to celebrate the game's 15th birthday. God Bless the Freelance Police!
The best soundtrack of gaming history. I'm forever grateful for every moment I had with the game, being able to share the moment of the release with other fans is very important to me. Tons of love from Brazil.
I only got into Sam & Max a couple a months ago when the devils playhouse got its remaster & OH MY GOD THIS IS WONDERFUL! Being in chat & seeing everyone screaming while sitting back & listening to these good ass tunes was just an amazing experience. I hope Skunkape, Jared, & everyone else on the San & Max team know just how special these two bozo cops are to hundreds, thousands of people. (Also jesus being in chat during the proposal music was so fucking insane. He said yes.)
Nearly one day late , happy and sad, a good kind of sad , the devil playhouse is one of the only two games in my life i cried on, so of course i feel back those emotions i had during my playthrough, and welp , wishing all Sam and Maxer a wonderfull day !
Jared Emerson Johnson is literally my favorite composer ----- As a jazz bassist (in training but not really) the best jazz i've ever heard is composed by him. Love love love the s&m soundtracks, I'm so happy this is finally releasing!!!!!!!
Never realized how much better I can appreciate these soundtracks with all the fluff and stings and cues cut out. Much better than most youtube uploads.
Everything in the soundtrack was freshly mastered specifically for digital playback, so it's basically optimal fidelity for listening. Huge thanks to Will Storkson and AudioSFX for knocking the album mastering out of the park.
2nd comment i'm posting here. I believe the time and place is right to share my story. Sam and Max season 3 is possibly the most important game of my life. As in, it decided the course of my brain. I can't remember who said it, but there was an old Telltale behind the scenes video that said something like, The great thing about sam and max is you can put them in anywhere. .........So in my head, that's what i did. Sam and Max have never left my head. Sometime after season 3's end, i was left imagining Sam and Max in other fictions. I watch or play whatever, i imagine Sam and Max being there somehow. That's how it started, but it evolved into something more. Something more personal. It became.....well my own personal inner fanfic. About inter world traversal and stopping an evil force. it shaped how i view fiction in general. What's in my head is guaranteed to be different than what readers here are thinking. Nonetheless, It's how Sam and Max are important to me. and also Sammun-mak (That last part is maybe just me, but he's maybe my favorite villain in anything.) I can elaborate further in replies if i feel like it.
Not gonna lie, I think the General Skun-ka'pe action theme is like 50% of the reason I fell in love with Devil's Playhouse when it initially released and why I looked so forward to the remaster. Like, hearing that song immediately hooked me in and claimed my soul, and the rest of the season was a prolonged victory lap.
It's one thing to listen to an out of this world one of a kind collection of music tracks, it's another to experience with those with an equal passion for the series and the composer and developers that came together to build such an extraordinary experience. As someone with an admiration for art and music, this track is a perfect combination of the two, the melodies not only helping settle the tone and theme, but practically is a story and character of it's own. Every track is a beautiful, mesmerizing, and magnificent display of effort and creativity alike, and I'm so glad it's out to the world in compact form, accompanying a perfect game!
Never would have thought that the funny dog and rabbit adventure game would have a Soundtrack rivalizing Persona's or Xenoblade's for me, but here we are, I guess.
Dang it I missed the stream!!! I would be bummed about that if listening to the tracks didn't cheer me right back up :) This is probably my favorite game ever and with beautiful music to complete it! It's exciting to have an official release now I would love to buy a vinyl as well if that is ever made available, any physical media would be an absolute treasure!
1:57:05 I think this part was unused dialogue… if I had to guess, it would be used in Episode 3-5, right after the cutscene where Momma Bosco tries and fails to clone Max back to life and right before the credit sequence with Sam depressingly wandering the streets of New York. I guess it ended up being unused because it wouldn't make sense for Max's narrating superego to be there, since he most definitely died along with Max.
All of the Narrator dialog you hear throughout this album were written by series lead Chuck Jordan during Episode 5 production, specifically for use in the soundtrack! The soundtrack never got released during the main series' run, though, so they were just rattling around loose until now.
Finally after all these years, we have it, the trinity is complete. Will this and Beyond Time And Space get a vinyl released like Save the World. I would love to buy it!
Glad i listened to the whole thing. Even learned a few new things. Though after this, what's next for Skunkape? I'll be curious about whatever they do next. If it happens to be more Sam and Max, i'll be there.
Dang, I wish I knew about this stream. Still, TDP's soundtrack is my fave out of the main 3 so far. And I know that "Greetings" track at the beginning is from unused dialogue from The City That Dares Not Sleep. 😁
Hey wait what about the extended version of the Battling Skun-ka'pe section? There's one after the 2 main parts that uses some of the instruments, but toned down.
I up this one too because I was surprised to see when I buy the steam version to not see the FLAC like for previous one. This make me think if I should buy first on bandcamp instead :w
Absolutely loved this games ost, Im a sucker for good jazz. Quick question though, are we also getting the individual tracks that play from the title screen/prisoner of general skunkape? Would love for official releases of those as well
So are we gonna get a vinyl record of this and Beyond Time and Space? Would kill to complete my collection after getting Save the World, especially with how the introduction is just straight up for a Record release
We wanted a listening experience more akin to an actual album. There is a flow to a bunch of the tracks that you can get by arranging them thematically instead of chronologically. When we first heard the Narrator dialog calling the experience "a free-form jazz odyssey to the borders of human imagination, held up briefly at the customs of rational thought, and nonstop to the realms of infinite power on the far side of the mind," we knew we had to try and do something fun with the album to live up to it. We'll put up a chronological playlist when the soundtracks hit streaming services, too.
Question-if the songs are a bit jumbled, will they stay that way for the official release? I’m a little confused about how the album is gonna be organised :)
Yep this is the official album order, programmed for thematic cohesion, fun transition, and surprise (Part 1: Neon noir, sci-fi, trending towards creepiness at the end. Part 2: Old timey adventure, lovecraftian mystery, trending towards creepiness at the end. Part 3: Creepiness throughout. Part 4: Bonus tracks fun time!). We will be releasing a chronological playlist when the tracks hit streaming services, though, for people who want to listen in game order.
@SkunkapeGames OK, thank you. It would be a bit messy to shuffle through a soundtrack like this in my opinion, though I imagine many wouldn't care about it.
@SkunkapeGames Hi, I’m back again. I use Apple Music and the album is in the same order as this RUclips video. Is there any way I can listen to it episode by episode like on the first album? Is the chronological one already out? I’m really sorry but it’s really been bugging me and I don’t think I can listen to the album out of order 😭💔
Hey, to those who joined for the listening stream, thank you so much for the love and support, it really does mean a lot. You're the reason we do this stuff, and it's really validating and wonderful to see and hear how much the stuff we make means to you. Until next time!

Ayyy it's the guy that did the stuff! Fantastic work as always, you're a huge inspiration to me!

soundtrack so good I went to avenge my dead best friend who got his brain pulled out
WE AINT SAVING MAX WITH THIS ONE 💥💥💥💥💥
Came for track 1, stayed for the whole damn thing
i'm going to be so normal about this soundtrack (

You got that right, my leader.
We finally won.
Started with Sam and ended with Max, just like the name of the series
the fact the soundtrack releases on my birthday 😭Thank you all so much for remastering this amazing trilogy and bringing back sam and max into my life ❤

I’d Absolutely Love a Vinyl of this Soundtrack! Full price! Money up front!
Saying good is an understatement

Will this and Beyond Time And Space get a vinyl released like Save the World. I would love to buy it!
Glad i listened to the whole thing. Even learned a few new things.
Though after this, what's next for Skunkape?
I'll be curious about whatever they do next.
If it happens to be more Sam and Max, i'll be there.
Let's just hope the writing stays witty and doesn't go the obvious routes.
"Don't just reference modern shit you idiot, that isn't comedy!"
This is one of my favorite game soundtracks; I'm so glad it's getting an official release! Also, the cover art is awesome!!
Dang, I wish I knew about this stream. Still, TDP's soundtrack is my fave out of the main 3 so far. And I know that "Greetings" track at the beginning is from unused dialogue from The City That Dares Not Sleep. 😁
We're back
PEAK SOUNDTRACK LET'S GOOOO

Genuinely debating on buying the soundtrack now, or waiting to see if a vinyl record comes out.
Hey wait what about the extended version of the Battling Skun-ka'pe section? There's one after the 2 main parts that uses some of the instruments, but toned down.
hey! I was wondering if a FLAC version of the OST was going to be added to the Steam release of the OST. you guys are the best, thanks for doing this!
I up this one too because I was surprised to see when I buy the steam version to not see the FLAC like for previous one. This make me think if I should buy first on bandcamp instead :w
Yep, there will be within the next few days.
@SkunkapeGames Awesome, thanks for the heads up!
@LowercaseJai FLAC is live in the Steam release, and available as part of the Bandcamp release.
Por favor, que alguien traduzca el juego al español!!! Le tengo muchas ganas
Absolutely loved this games ost, Im a sucker for good jazz. Quick question though, are we also getting the individual tracks that play from the title screen/prisoner of general skunkape? Would love for official releases of those as well
OMG how could I miss this O_O
Yeahhh!
1:45:57
LETS GOOOOOOOO
LET'S GOOOOOOOOOOO
Don’t even joke lad…….
What's next for Skunkape Games?
Hot damn! 🔥
Dr. Norrington: Ha! Junior HATED you, Charlie! He used to call you “Creepy Charlie!”
So are we gonna get a vinyl record of this and Beyond Time and Space? Would kill to complete my collection after getting Save the World, especially with how the introduction is just straight up for a Record release
I'm currious, what inspired you all to organize this out of order with the game's chapters?
We wanted a listening experience more akin to an actual album. There is a flow to a bunch of the tracks that you can get by arranging them thematically instead of chronologically. When we first heard the Narrator dialog calling the experience "a free-form jazz odyssey to the borders of human imagination, held up briefly at the customs of rational thought, and nonstop to the realms of infinite power on the far side of the mind," we knew we had to try and do something fun with the album to live up to it.
We'll put up a chronological playlist when the soundtracks hit streaming services, too.
When will The Devil's Playhouse be released on GOG? As far as I know it was announced for release but it sort of never happened.
NEW VOICE ACTING??!?!??!
New UI improvements?? Is this a hint?
Oh yeah
Will this be on Bandcamp?
