Thanks! The right drawer is not an air fryer it’s the warming tray, which would explain the lower temp

I completely forgot about that! Yup, that makes sense. My batteries in my thermometer were acting weird so I thought that was it.

Also you’re probably getting the reading from the egg roll “food temp” not the air fryer. You’d have to get those egg rolls out of the way.

Thanks so much, I was hesitant to try but thinking I may go with the air fryer model now. NG is the only way silly that blackstone does not support

Did you use the standard 5249 conversion kit to switch from propane to ONG, and if so did you have to do any modifications to the airfryer nozzle?

Sorry, just saw this. Yes, just used the 5249 and no I didn't change anything on the airfryer nozzle. I could have used a torch tip to open it up more, but seems fine the few times I have used the airfryer.

Thanks for being the Guinea Pig for the conversion… how hot did the air fryer drawers end up getting? Looking to convert before summer comes.

I just cooked with them and they definitely got hot enough to cook what I wanted to. I did not sit there and run them for 20 minutes and tank a final temperature reading.. Simply because I’m too impatient

Can confirm what the temp gets to on the air fryers after running it for a while? They still say it’s not supported and I hope they can close to that 300-400 range but your video shows them in the 100 range still. Any update after running air fryers for a bit?

How long on high would you like me to run it to test it

@@BryanHansen I guess it would depend on temp outside and some other factors, if I’m not mistaken based on some picture black stone shows the air fryer on high will get up to 425F-475F, this is propane though but is ideal for crisping up food. The website says it’s not recommended because it will not get to max temp, so really curious how hot it will get say after 5 - 10 - 15min? I also wonder if the problem is running all 4 burners AND the air fryer. Maybe trying all of them and then just using air fryer by itself. That would give an really good idea.

@@user-fq9uk3pn1i I started recording another video last night on the temps. I got interrupted so I didn’t finish it. 5 minutes in the air fryer was 321 degrees. I didn’t get the 10 minute temp so I scraped the video. I think I know why Blackstone says it’s not supported though. You can not, at least on natural gas, run the burners and the air fryer all on high at the same time. It is not hot enough. Individually they run great, but all four burners and the air fryer, no dice. It’s low to medium low temp at best.

@@BryanHansen I reached out to Blackstone customer service and they told me the only difference is that running on natural gas will run 50F less than propane, and they dont recommend conversion on this model because its hard to change out the orifice, but obviously based on your video the orifice can be changed with some work. My concern though is sounds like the 50F less is only if the top burners are not running. I already ordered my blackstone so i have another question for you, do you think its possible to covert top burners to NG but then reroute the gas line hose on the air fryers to run strictly on propane? or even convert it to run on a separate NG line? the NG line should be able to provide enough gas to all burners from my understanding so i wonder why its being reduced so much.

@@user-fq9uk3pn1i It runs great. Honestly, it isn't that hard to swap the orifices. I think it is a line pressure (just thinking out loud) issue. Most homes are .5 lb psi and up to 2lbs. BBQ propane tanks are higher pressure, thus the need for a regulator. It runs, just not everything on high. I think it would likely be the same problem on propane running everything on high all at once, but since I have converted mine, I can't test it that way anymore. It would be more work, but not hard to reroute a separate line for the air fryer.

Did it hold up? According to Blackstone they say that model isn’t compatible with nat gas. I have model #1868 looks like the same as yours.
Blackstone says “Do not convert your propane-powered air fryer griddles to Natural Gas. It is not recommended and may result in problems with your unit and potential harm.”

Used it two days ago. Worked like a champ. The air fryer was 400° in 15 minutes.

@@BryanHansen have you ever been able to test the burners and air fryer at the same time to verify temperatures aren’t diving when all are on high like some others mentioned?

    • @BryanHansen
      @BryanHansen  Год назад

@@ChadLower Yeah, I have answered this numerous times in the comments. I wouldn't run the air fryer on high and all the burners on high at the same time. I don't think you would get the temps you want with it. To be honest though, I don't think you will on propane either. All 4 burners AND the the air fryer drawer and warming drawer take a fair amount of pressure. Mine actually did it. It wasn't able to maintain 400 in the fryer. I don't have an actual temp reading that I remember, but I want to say it was 300 or 310.
