Such a pity they fenced off part of the pier at Lymington. I used to love spotting fish when I worked trains down there. Ampress Halt was still in use when I started in 1987. Crazy that those old 3rd Class seats are more comfortable than the First Class on the Disastros.
The 'fancy propeller' on yon (rather superb) model ferry is a Voith-Schneider Propeller, which allow seriously impressive maneuverability. I had the same reaction to that sumptuous ex-LC&DR saloon first time I saw it!
But for about £1500 (a lot of money back in 1967), a second O2, W31 'Chale' would still be with us. Along with W24 'Calbourne', it was retained after the cessation of steam working in 1966 in connection with electrification works. Where W24 carries a heavily (and expensively) repaired Adams pattern boiler, W31's was Drummond pattern ... a design allegedly inferior to the Adams original. How much of THAT was prejudice, how much was wisdom? We shall never know. Oh well, can't win 'em all! 😔

I had a dream last night that there would be a new vlog today. Here we are.
Dream that the Down the Mine pilot got released.

David Graham (voice of Gordon Tracy, Brains, Kyrano and Aloysius Parker in Thunderbirds) has died aged 99.
I didn’t even know Calbourne was out of service. Will the overhaul be a long time?
Now back in service, New tyres fitted on driving wheels. 😊

What happened Harry then?
Missing a ferry is not a good feeling, i know first hand.
Worse than missing a Woolwich Ferry, better than missing a Santander Ferry. 🚢
