It looks like you had a beautiful morning to go flying! Flying first class in the USA really shows how fortunate we are when flying business class in Europe with better lounges and onboard catering. Thanks for posting this one, hope you enjoyed Las Vegas.
The bigger seat on US domestic flights is definitely nicer when flying business but, yeah, I think we have it much better in terms of catering (for the most part) and lounge access being bundled in. Still find it weird that if I buy a "First" class ticket in the US that I won't get lounge access if I don't have status with a different carrier in the same alliance, or a paid membership/credit card. I guess its because of the sheer number of "elite" frequent flyers each of the US carriers have and the fact its a revenue generating model for them - I'm happy that I get access via BA when flying American or Alaska at least.
Thanks Tom - glad you enjoyed the video! It's quite some place to fly in and out of - I'm just grateful I managed to get some views of the strip, even if I did end up on the wrong side of the aircraft when we were landing. Hope to go back and spend a bit more time there at some point in the future.
The annoying thing was that they were landing on runway 26 L for most of the morning (where I'd have had a better view of the strip from the right of the aircraft) and switched to landing on runway 1 after we took off from LAX. It's the luck of the draw, but at least it's still great views in the sunshine 🙂
I've always thought this was LAX's busiest route; apparently it's 3rd place. But it's got the most competitor airlines, not even counting the Burbank and Long Beach options. Poke!
It's certainly a very busy route, which I sort of understand, given the nature of Las Vegas - but it's still a surprise that it's so high on the list. I guess when you have Spirit, Southwestern, American, United, Delta and Alaska all on that route (and I think JetBlue might even do one?) it all mounts up.
Thanks Jamie. I've stayed there a few times. It's fine - nothing special - but I've chosen it before for location (free shuttle to/from the airport), and because I got a f&b credit. Wasn't really spending a lot of time in it tbh and since I'll have dropped to silver for my next jaunt in August, I'm likely to try elsewhere

Great video! Thanks. I flew into LAS on an American A321 on Business from DFW September 2023. Very memorable experience.

That solar thingy is amazing. I don't think there was any service when we flew this last August.
Always amazes me any time I fly over it. Each of the bright squares is about 1km across.
In daylight, the views from the window in the Alaska lounge are actually quite good. You are inbetween two of the runways.

great video mate pity you weren’t seated on the other side you could have maybe seen Roger dry lake where Chuck Yeager did his bit 😊
I'm sure I missed a few other interesting landmarks along the way - I'll just need to ensure I go back another time to see the rest of them 😀!

Great vid. How did you find the LAX Hilton? I stayed there last year and wasn't particularly impressed, the soundproofing was very poor in my opinion.
