Skyhook need to give the scotrail 158 a new sound set, like this
We were always taughg to open up gradually with the 159s. I didn't like making a racket like that, I preferred to purr away gently. Didn't make any difference to the speed, just more professional.
This station is on a severe gradient so generally speaking drivers here give it the higher than the gradual progression through the notches.
Ah this is very interesting, thanks for sharing!
Absolutely fabulous one of the best train videos I’ve ever seen 👍🏻I also went on a 158 the other day and recorded it
Thank you so much I appreciate it! Where did you go on the 158?

@@andybray9791 Hmmm good question, I have no idea ;))
The louder the awesomer it gets us that right class 614209 oh wait it's dead
got a few pics of 614209 before it died 😔
I love sprinters man, they sound good, as do turbos
I was gonna send this to you on discord cause I recognise this after your pictures. Then I realised who uploaded it lmao. Nice video tho!
Haha thanks :))
Best sound man can hear
Cummins powered, Perkins powered types are hellfire too.
Yep, the noise is crazy!
Which Cummins model?
What route was that train on?
Anniesland line
Anniesland-Glasgow Queen St via Maryhill.
The problem is the noise it sounds like an mri
Is that the Cummins or Perkins engine variant
Not sure actually
scotrail doesn't have perkins 158's
Cummins
Bruh the sprinter trains sound almost like beasts or zombies
So true 😂
@@EGPFAviation like what do you mean its true
I mean like they do sound like zombies lmao
It's the hydraulic transmission making that whine
@@zodiotekgaming Ah, thanks for the info!
What engine model is this it sounds like Perkins
I think it’s Cummins but not really sure.
@@EGPFAviation hmm they don’t sound like most engines do any of the variations
@@Yorkshiremidlandtrains910 Agreed, every time sounds different!
@@EGPFAviationyou don’t really see many Perkins anymore
@@Yorkshiremidlandtrains910 Ohh do you know what operators they still run on?
Why perkins is just better
A lot of noise and not much speed 🤣🤣
Yep, but still accelerating fairly fast for a DMU! 😂
This part of the line is also restricted to 30mph, so you can sometimes hear the throttles being set to idle after trains depart the station
0.8m/s² max acceleration, not bad at all
Wow, That sounds like the ones in mid wales There so loud
Oh the TfW ones are also loud?
@@EGPFAviation yes, 153s 150s and 158s are all loud. But they have now made electric class 231s to replace the 153s 150s and 158s
@@Isaac2012YT Yep, the 231's will be appreciated by many regular welsh commuters.
Yes. Most nights because I live next to the train line it's so loud when one passes, hopefully the 231s should be less loud🤞
