Roundtable: Let's Talk Tooling & Fixtures (Expo 2024 - Episode 23)

For this segment we traveled out to ‪@Rottlermfg‬ HQ where we sat down with Rottler’s Ryan Thompson, Keith Dorton, ‪@CWTINDUSTRIES‬ Randy Neal and ‪@MAHLEGroup‬ Dan Begle for a conversation about using tooling and fixtures to eliminate the gap between what an engine builder assumes is correct and what it actually correct.
The guys talk about the importance of geometry, fit and alignment, and how to go about making sure what you think you’ve blueprinted matches the finished block. They also share a couple of stories about problems they discovered and how they fixed them.
And, finally, we find out that Keith Dorton could live just fine without an iPhone, but not his CNC machine.

Been waiting on this.
Highest likelihood for a job to head south or lose time is in the setup.
If someone would create a reference source of application datums / dimensions, I feel would be a huge leap.
May be out there, and I’m unaware of it, as I’ve been out of the automotive machinist end for a long time, for switching to aviation.
