Sure, he told no one why he broke the Dream Wand, but he was indeed preventing Nightmare from materializing through the wand when put in the Fountain of Dreams. Then he got unlucky and became the host of multiple dark gods or got controlled by tech in the following games. He's not lucky at all... At least Kirby taught him to not try to do things by himself, but instead team up when he learns of some impending doom.
This would make for a surprisingly good characterization for him if Nintendo decided to make a Kirby movie---while _still_ being pretty true to the games! And yes, like the other replies said: if he got possessed, he could _still_ be an epic boss for Kirby to defeat in the movie's climax!
This makes me want a kirby movie that takes its self FAR TOO seriously. Like, "Yeah Mario is goofy brawling with a big turtle, but this movie is about a pink circle and he's FIGHTING A GOD."

Well, if Grapple in the Big Apple is any measurement, then the final battle will only include the ambient music around King DDD, and not the actual music, accompanied with an inverted version of Kirby’s theme, as Kirby’s theme rises up. But also, King DDD isn’t exactly Kirby’s villain, like Bowser is to Mario, so it could be different. I can see King DDD being more like the Fighting Tooth and Veil scene, which features themes directly connected to the events, and the final battle being against the actual villain. Or maybe King DDD will be like the mid-movie battle against DK, which can allow full implementation of his theme in the arena-style battle.

No, the true villain… well, let’s just say that there’s a reason that a Kirby character had to be seriously toned down to make smash ultimate E10 instead of M. Even though several fighters are from M rated franchises, it was the Kirby boss that caused problems.

This is impressive. I've always enjoyed Dedede's theme in just about any form and this one has a little extra something to it. He's one of the handful of characters my friends hate to see me pick in Smash Bros.
I could see the kirby movie having his normal theme in the false climax where he and kirby are fighting, and then *this* plays when dedede uses his castle cannons to help fight dark matter, even if it doesn’t do anything the sentiment alone DESERVES an epic score, which then slowly transitions into the dark matter fight theme as the camera pans over to kirby riding the warp stat
Honestly love the music and the thumbnail, that Dedede art alone would convince so many people that HAL and Nintendo made the decision to make a Kirby movie that’s on par with the Mario movie. If so, they BETTER give Dedede his KRBAY voice, or else it’s a crime against humanity and nature both.

Out of all 3 Kings, Dedede has been going down into becoming an anti hero than full on villain.. heck all they do to make him a villain is possess him by using a new game antagonist to give us the copy and paste dedede battles. So I see Dedede becoming a hero like Meta Knight than a full on enemy in the future. The song fits that as much as we hate that we are down to only one king being Bowser, K Rool hasn’t been seen in a main line DK game since Swing.

I made myself sad by thinking about something that didn’t even happen. I started imagining that this would play when King Dedede sacrifices himself to help Kirby defeat an army.
What if they connect the Mario Movie to a Kirby Movie by having Dedede be the same species (or a related species) of penguins as in the Mushroom Kingdom? The penguins are certainly tall enough, at least from Mario 64 onward.
This is a song worthy of backing the story of the mighty Triple D. Once a tyrant king, a self proclaimed lord, until he was beaten by Kirby. He realised there was more to life than his opulence and greed, he went out of his way to join Kirby's journeys. Then in revenge of the king, one final battle between Dedede and Kirby, this is where the tyrant king died, but the rightful ruler was born. After that battle, he cleaned his image up. In pause screens, we see how his subjects view the self proclaimed ruler, dreamland's tyrant, as he slowly takes more effort to be worthy of his title, to protect his subjects, to become a king that can destroy the evils that threaten the land together with his pink rival-turned-friend. One of the greatest character development arcs in all of gaming, a change from a tyrant to a heralded and heroic king, risking his life for even a single subject's survival. A change spanning literal Decades. The age of the Penguin king shall last many more.

This is a song worthy of backing the story of the mighty Triple D.
Once a tyrant king, a self proclaimed lord, until he was beaten by Kirby. He realised there was more to life than his opulence and greed, he went out of his way to join Kirby's journeys. Then in revenge of the king, one final battle between Dedede and Kirby, this is where the tyrant king died, but the rightful ruler was born.
After that battle, he cleaned his image up. In pause screens, we see how his subjects view the self proclaimed ruler, dreamland's tyrant, as he slowly takes more effort to be worthy of his title, to protect his subjects, to become a king that can destroy the evils that threaten the land together with his pink rival-turned-friend.
One of the greatest character development arcs in all of gaming, a change from a tyrant to a heralded and heroic king, risking his life for even a single subject's survival. A change spanning literal Decades. The age of the Penguin king shall last many more.
