Thanks for the review buddy!! Looks like that knife is getting a lot of love from you :) Looks like a great camp knife. I really like the thick steel. Thanks buddy!
I certainly use it for batoning a lot! I've personally got a lot of issues with it, but for someone that likes thick steel, it might be right up your alley!
I have the SCHF52M. Basically the same knife, just longer. I wasn't overly impressed with it. I used it once, and it's sat in my closet ever since. It's a batonning champ, I'll give it that, but I should have stuck with my Mora, lol. I did knock down the rough edges on the micarta with some sand paper which made it a bit more comfortable, but it was just to thick and chunky for my taste.
wow. on paper this sounded like a real deal. smkw a few months ago lowered this price to as low as $33 i think. i had it in my cart, but it sold out. maybe i'm glad, cuz it seems to have three major design flaws: a bad grind, awkwardly place choil, and an overly long handle.
The thing to keep in mind is that these are flaws "for me". Other people might like a thick grind, might like having a gigantic choil, or a really long handle, but for me they just aren't ideal.
The Schf51M is now $53.99, I picked mine up on Amazon back in August 2021 for $43.51, and i don't regret it, because she hasn't failed me, she is my sharpened pry bar. As for the screws the gentleman made note of here on this video, You will need to tighten them down some to get the handle secured to the full tang handle.

I'm with you 100%, it's got some pretty big issues, but it does baton like a beast at least xD
I have the SCHF52 a friend added custom Micarta Handle and a Kydex Sheath. It's definitely a beast of a knife.
A beast for sure! Some pretty big flaws with it, but this thing would be darn hard to break or to not be up for a specific task.

Great review. I have the Schrade fsch36, very similar. It's OK but rather cumbersome to use.
Basically the exact same critique I've got of this. Thanks for tuning in!
nice review... ive had a 37M for several years. Great knives for the $$$.
Cool! I'd like to check that one out. This one has a lot of potential, but just a few things I wasn't crazy about
I have this knife and your right the factory edge is useless I dun the same as you now it slices much better. All the best 🇬🇧
Couldn't agree more, it was like a splitting maul when it came in, couldn't do much other than baton with it. At least now I can use it as a knife xD
I have several Schrades but they are lock backs I do have a RR similar to this one.
I've got some vintage Schrade traditional knives, but no other modern ones. How do you like yours?
@@practicalknifereviews1600 I dont have any American made ones they are all Chinese but they are OK knives.
@@bionicbaer I've been curious about those!
Where does this dude live? It always looks like the frozen tundra out there
