@@ohok4805 they are idols and they should perform as they should be. That's the problem on some of the 3rd Generation Girl Groups they are focusing on visuals instead giving a quality performance. Sir Austin I think they both are city pop, a Japanese genre that started in the 80s. It seems to be surging in popularity for a reason I don't know. I just know that "Blinding Lights" by the Weeknd may also city pop and it got really popular, which could be the reason for its rise in popularity in the last couple years. If you feel like delving deeper into city pop, there's a female solo artist named Yukika who's whole concept is city pop. She debuted with "Neon" last year and it was quite good. She has a very nice voice that weirdly reminds me of Jiu from Dreamcatcher, but that may just be my odd mind. I would recommend "Soul Lady" and "Neon". Edit: I'm starting to think that "I Can't Stop Me" may be more along the lines of inspired by city pop, not full on city pop, but whatever. I like this trend so far and it would still be fun if city pop or synth wave becomes a more of a major trend in K-Pop. Edit 2: I think I may have mistaken synth wave for city pop. Oops. No matter what, Yukika is very good (and definitely city pop) and if synth wave or city pop both became trends in K-Pop, I certainly wouldn't mind.
@@mysterysnakey5737 Speaking of your comparison of Yukika to Jiu, of im not mistaken, in a recent interview 'between dreamcatcher and me', when asked what genres they would like to mix their style with Jiu said city pop 😃😃
@@Rob_Ethereal You are not mistaken, I heard that Jiu wanted to try city pop, too. I think that is the other reason I compared Jiu to Yukika when listening to Yukika sing. Perhaps Jiu is a fan of Yukika or listens to her music, or maybe Yukika is a fan of Jiu? I have heard that Yukika was on MixNine, so it would be cool if they've met or are friends. No matter what, it would be a cool coincidence. It makes me think that Jiu could really rock a city pop song for her solo, if she ever wants one. Now that I think about, Jiu has said that her favorite foreign artist is the Beatles, so maybe she likes older music, like late-80s and before? Another possibility is that both Yukika and Jiu could have been big fans of older city pop and developed their singing styles based off of the singers of old city pop. Whatever the case, they both have amazing voices and are underrated.
Great analysis! I think it's so interesting how their vocal tones are darker - they also sound lower too at some points (which is likely more comfy for them to sing!). Great point about it being aggressive-sounding too at some points, especially compared to other TWICE songs. Thank you for this!
3:24 I can explain why. Twice was and to a degree still is a bubble gum pop group that went hard for a cute concept with a twist, for example the debut song had zombies in it. Progressing in their careers they came to a point where the concept was more limitative than anything else so they are transitioning to something more mature and classy (they probably will never do a girl crush concept). To prove this point I suggest you try listening to songs like "Knock Knock", "Likey", "TT", What Is Love?", "Signal" then you put on "Dance The Night Away" as kind of a bridge experiment and end with "Fancy", "Feel Special", "More & More" and this one, you will perceived that there's a growth there while they still have that positive energy and freshness that is really the selling point of Twice. If you really want to deep dive on this try listening to the Page Two mini and then put on anyone from Fancy You, Feel Special, More & More (the best Twice release to this day) or even this one, you'll see that there's a really clear distinction in the sound. BTW Fancy You, Feel Special and More & More (except for More & More itself) are really really good.
Oh and for sure those vocals came from Nayeon and Jihyo. Nayeon did the first half, you can tell from the forward nasally tone in her cry and the second while Nayeon took center for the song was Jihyo as you can tell from the fuller tones of her voice
Hmm interesting. In the first part of the last chorus, with Jeongyeon singing the main line and Nayeon singing the adlibs- I think Nayeon can definitely sing that live, her live head-voice is super clean, but her belting while dancing can sometimes struggle a bit, so probably not if she has choreo. When Nayeon is singing the main line and Jihyo is singing the adlibs in the second part of the last chorus, I 100% believe that Jihyo can sing that while dancing. She doesn't have the same high note/head voice agility that Nayeon (and most main singers like Yuju/Wendy/Siyeon) has, but her ability to belt on-pitch while dancing is generally flawless.
Twice started to evolve and getting more mature during Fancy and Feel Special era, and this song is a continuation of More & More title track, do check it out so you will get the whole story inline... Btw this song is about how they fighting their inner self when exploring new concept, new self and a video telling us that they are transitioning to a whole new concept
yeyyyyy you reacted to them!!! i love this song so much, they definitely experimented a lot more with their sound on this album (lots of deeper more mature tones, r&b, 80s sounds) and their last 2 or 3 albums. The album is so good, i would love for you to react to some of the songs
The ending is similar to Gfriend's technique of using their vocals. I'm just so proud that they are both growing up to their usual sound. OnceBuddy anyone?
4:36 for sure voices like Mina's and Jeongyeon's are instrumental to the new course they are taking, they are fuller and jazzier. Jihyo too being the main vocal can use her in a much more interesting way than just having to reach the highes of notes. Overall I'd say that all of them are better served and still keep it refreshing due to the mere selection of voices available to the group, for sure Momo is thanking the gods. XD
if you watching twice since their debut era, is just like watching your kids growing up, they keep learning a new thing, keep trying a bunch of stuff, sometimes it's hurt them, but just like a kids, they're fearless and just keep going, and what i love about twice is they seems never stop learning, i mean, if we seeing it in achievement perspective, they already achieving anything what kpop girlgroup ever wanted, but it's doesn't make them stop learning, and most importantly they always humble and giving their best in each performance. that's why i always said ONCE's is the luckiest fandom ever exist.. they also always improving in every single comeback, ive been following them in the past 7 years, and it was the greatest 7 years in my life, and ill keep following them for another 7 years, then let's see where they are in 7 years later..
it's so nice to hear their voices in a pitch that's extremely high. They have really good music production and great group chemistry, but sometimes it hurts to hear how high the company make them sing
Austin! I knew you were a Once but since you've never done a vocal reaction to Twice I wasn't expecting this. Im happy to see it! They're my Ult Group followed by DC. Twice will always be my number one though
i've been waiting for a reaction to of them and I love it. this more mature concept came in 2019 with feel special. the high notes and vocals are more in their bsides. I Can't Stop Me it's a continuation from More & More, that was released 4 months ago. Next time react please to More & More and Feel Special. I loved this video.
Thanks for the video! Twice and Dreamcatcher are by far my top 2 favorite groups in kpop, so I'm very happy to see this. Regarding this song, I've been following Twice since their debut and this is most definitely very different from what they usually do. In the last year or so, Twice have been moving in a more mature musical direction, that shift has been most apparent in the B-sides from their last 3 releases (some of which I very highly recommend just to listen to, I'm sure there's at least one that you'll like - if you want a list of songs lmk) with only shades of it in the title tracks, where as a whole the title tracks have def been more mature sounding, but they still had the usual 'upbeat' Twice style. So to have this song be the way it is, is amazing and it's perhaps my favorite title track from them ever. About the really high straight vocals in the back during the last chorus, based on the live premiere performance they did, it sounds like they just have them in the backtrack. As far as I can tell, Nayeon isn't actually singing them, which I think is the right move. As much as I believe she can hit the notes and as much as I would like for them to be live, the lines are definitely at the end of her register and it's probably best that she doesn't do them live several times a week, for several weeks while doing that choreo. (P.S. is that Sandra Bullock mention a reference to Speed? lol)
First time on you channel, i love Twice and your reaction was really good! I hope to see more about Twice from you, especially since you haven't really heard their recent works such as Feel Special (one of their best songs in my opinion), Fancy or More and More. Much love!
Thank you for showing TWICE some love! All the bside song in this album are amazing too. Its hard to choose one of the best bsides in this album because all of them are bop. This album is literally no skip album.
Thank you for the reaction! Check out their recent bsides from Eyes Wide Open album (or from the oldest bsides, if you want to see how they improved 🥺), they are bops, some are pretty experimental too and showcases different styles and sides of them it's interesting! XD
You should listen to their discography like all the songs are so good!! I am not even kidding! They always have good vocals especially in their bside tracks but they have improved so much and I am proud of my queens!!! Thank you for reacting.
Love your reactions!! You should listen to ladies code! They started off with a jazzy concept but after 2 members passed away they came back after a 2 year hiatus with a much more mature/edm sound. I would recommend their debut song Bad Girl and their first song after the hiatus called Galaxy
I’d definitely recommend checking out more twice. They drop bops left, right and center including many of the Bsides and they’re funny as shit, so they’re really entertaining to watch.
I pity that some reactors reacts only to title tracks. Twice b sides is gold and most of the members write lyrics in their b sides. I loved their ballad songs. In this album eyes wide open 5 members wrote lyrics in their b sides..i hope jyp let them sing in lower register.
I love twice so much, but i doubt they would be able to hit those adlibs live, since their choreography is quite intense. However, im so proud of them, they've improved so much in terms of vocals💜
Pretty much each comeback since Yes or Yes has pushed into a more mature style for the group. Their B-sides always show more vocal skill than their lead singles. Would recommend checking out their comebacks leading to this one! Yes or Yes->Fancy->Feel Special->More&More->I Can't Stop Me. This is their second full album following their first which was the one with 'Likey' on it (Twicetagram). Check out the B-sides! (Especially 'Hell in Heaven'). A few older B-sides worth checking out for vocals are 'Sunset' (From Yes or Yes), 'Hot' (From Fancy You), '21:29' (From Feel Special), and 'Shadow' (From More&More). Both some of my favourites from each album, and also songs that are more interesting vocally.
The backing vocals that you wanted to focus on were Nayeon and Jihyo. They do do those live. Check out their live performances of More and More you'll see Nayeon and Jihyo doing the backing vocals during their chorus
I was waiting for this! ^ ^ please react to their newer stuff! they changed their concept quite a bit as they used to be more cutesy but they're more mature now :3 Twice is my ultimate favorite group and Momo is my bias!
Twice is one of my favorite groups ever, jihyo (red hair girl - main vocal) is my bias from the very beginning. But it's clear to say all of them are very special talented and beautiful ❤️
they're actually good at singing it's just their past songs doesn't really showcase their singing skills but now I'm so glad that this comeback really did showcase their voices.
T.T imagine not knowing our vocal queens Jihyo and Nayeon! Lul thx for the react!! P.s. xD they already performed live hehehe. and it was amazing so also recommend it!!
All Twice title tracks are of course bops, but I think a lot of their vocals are portrayed in their b-sides, which is probably why you haven't heard too much of it (for example, Headphones On and One In A Million has AMAZING VOCALS (both songs have live performances too))
Honestly, Twice get a bad rep among the kpop community for their vocals but even though they might not be among the best vocalists out there, they're definitely better than people give them credit for. And a lot of it is due to them being stuck in the 'cute, bright' box for so long (not only concept wise, but sound wise as well) which never allowed their natural voices to shine through imo, though I'm far from a music expert so maybe I'm just saying nonsense lmao
omg you reacted to my ult group! thank you so much! you should definitely check their bsides, especially the ones from this album, or just check them out in general ahaha (cody & wyatt’s guide to twice is really helpful if you want to get to know them or any osmomosis video!) btw the ones belting notes at the end are jihyo (main vocalist) and nayeon (lead vocalist)

if you watching twice since their debut era, is just like watching your kids growing up, they keep learning a new thing, keep trying a bunch of stuff, sometimes it's hurt them, but just like a kids, they're fearless and just keep going, and what i love about twice is they seems never stop learning, i mean, if we seeing it in achievement perspective, they already achieving anything what kpop girlgroup ever wanted, but it's doesn't make them stop learning, and most importantly they always humble and giving their best in each performance. that's why i always said ONCE's is the luckiest fandom ever exist.. they also always improving in every single comeback, ive been following them in the past 7 years, and it was the greatest 7 years in my life, and ill keep following them for another 7 years, then let's see where they are in 7 years later..
You really have taste! Jeongyeon's voice is immaculate and severely underrated
PERIOD!
those adlibs is sang by twice member itself! jihyo nayeon high notes is amazing
it's so nice to hear their voices in a pitch that's extremely high. They have really good music production and great group chemistry, but sometimes it hurts to hear how high the company make them sing
In fact, because the pitch of this song was too high, Nayeon sang lying on the ground while recording.
This is my first video I'm watching from you and I just love how kind and nice you sound! Defs subscribing
I agree Austin, i feel their voice more mature. Nayeon and Ji Hyo surprised me!
Jeongyeon bias ...she Is One of the Best...she has great Vocals AND she's amazing beautiful!!!
Austin! I knew you were a Once but since you've never done a vocal reaction to Twice I wasn't expecting this. Im happy to see it! They're my Ult Group followed by DC. Twice will always be my number one though
NAYEON & JIHYO battle in background high vokals on Last Chorus.... hahhaah
i've been waiting for a reaction to of them and I love it. this more mature concept came in 2019 with feel special. the high notes and vocals are more in their bsides. I Can't Stop Me it's a continuation from More & More, that was released 4 months ago. Next time react please to More & More and Feel Special. I loved this video.
Twice's previous songs weren't my type of music but this one reeled me in to check them out. Love it!
I love Jeongyeon too. She's my bias. New subscriber here.
(P.S. is that Sandra Bullock mention a reference to Speed? lol)
there are many of them train so hard about this song i love them
Nayeon and Jihyo did the high notes in the end os the song
First time on you channel, i love Twice and your reaction was really good! I hope to see more about Twice from you, especially since you haven't really heard their recent works such as Feel Special (one of their best songs in my opinion), Fancy or More and More. Much love!
Twice's vocals are one of the most underrated vocals in Kpop!
Thank you for showing TWICE some love! All the bside song in this album are amazing too. Its hard to choose one of the best bsides in this album because all of them are bop. This album is literally no skip album.
I love your reactions thank you. (Just wanted to give the support💜)
Twice absolutely blew me away with this comeback. I’ve never fangirled so much over them it’s insane
4:38 thank you :) The first time someone noticed her beautiful voice at this point, i love so much
Thank you for the reaction! Check out their recent bsides from Eyes Wide Open album (or from the oldest bsides, if you want to see how they improved 🥺), they are bops, some are pretty experimental too and showcases different styles and sides of them it's interesting! XD
Jihyo always had the killer vocals you better ask somebody lol
Watching them grow and evolve is part of the fun of stanning
Yass jeongyeon is queen! Underrated vocalist
Wow! I followed you because of your Mamamoo vids but I'm a Twice fan and I'm happy you are starting to watch them as well. =)
They are so cool, elegant ladies with great voices❤️
I’d definitely recommend checking out more twice. They drop bops left, right and center including many of the Bsides and they’re funny as shit, so they’re really entertaining to watch.
I enjoyed the reaction video!!TWICE, cheer up and love you!!
Such a bop !
Love your reaction!!! 🧡✨
Please react to Twice’s singing moments to see a little more of their vocals!
If sir Austin starts stanning TWICE I'mma REALLY GO BYE BYE WORLD OHMYGHAD, YOU CAN GET ME GODJIHYO
I'm here for more Twice content! Great reaction
6:16 Bb5 (i'm not sure)
Nayeon’s vocals are pretty awesome, you can look up covers and lives for the high notes she hits :)
the only person I trust to critique voice, all these other coaches sound inexperienced
All Twice title tracks are of course bops, but I think a lot of their vocals are portrayed in their b-sides, which is probably why you haven't heard too much of it (for example, Headphones On and One In A Million has AMAZING VOCALS (both songs have live performances too))
Dang! I recommend checking out their Bsides such as "Rainbow". You can definitely see their vocal capabilities there.
Love your videos btw!
I love your reaction🤗
Im so proud of Twice's progression thourgh 6 years in their style, from cutie to mature but not too much, I cant wait for the album with Cry For Me
the range of the song is (G#3- F#5 -Bb5)
i loved this song so much omg
just in the chorus, they have like, three F5's
This whole album just , full of harmonys ....
I can't stop me: *Twice sings to the highest range*
Eyes Wide Open Side tracks: *Twice sings lower than our grades* lol HAHAHA
omg you reacted to my ult group! thank you so much! you should definitely check their bsides, especially the ones from this album, or just check them out in general ahaha (cody & wyatt’s guide to twice is really helpful if you want to get to know them or any osmomosis video!)
btw the ones belting notes at the end are jihyo (main vocalist) and nayeon (lead vocalist)
Girl with the high note vocal when your pause the video is nayeon, she's main vocal with high note in MV more &more too, and than , your pavorite ia jeongyeon 😀👍👍👍.. nice reaction coach👍👍
Sandra Bullock was on that train!!! LMFAO Speed MOOD ❤️
6:51 yes ! it's from twice
Listen to the whole album. All of the songs are a MASTERPIECE
thanks for showing twice so much love!!! it means a lot 🥺 could you react to Ken’s “Just for a moment” live performance? i swear his vocal ability is worth giving it a listen
5:10 the red light with high note is from nayeon
