There was only one Jeff Beck..no other substitute..none but this is a great salute to our dearly loved and departed Jeff Beck.Greatly appreciated this thank you.!
I'm so happy and so lucky to have seen Beck live 7 times. One of the few GOAT guitarists IMO. He will be sorely missed. And very happy to see/hear such an excellent tribute put together for him. Such admiration and respect on show and great playing all around by every one of these cats. Bravo to these players and lots of love sent to Jeff. His music will on forever! Eternal thanks xo
It was a terrific tribute to Jeff by musicians and friends who adored, admired and respected him and who were very sad to lose their fellow musician. Thank you to all the musicians and singers paying tribute and to the organisers of this fabulous tribute to Jeff, and without Eric and his contacts it may never have been pulled off ❤❤🎶🎶🙏🙏 God Bless Jeff Beck, never forgotten RIP 🙏🙏
Blow By Blow and Wired changed how I believed a guitarist could sound and do.Both albums are pure genius. There was only one who could do what he could do-even the great John MacLaughlin couldn’t pull off Jeff’s sound and style.
It amazes me how many great guitarist there are & not one not even just one can duplicate his perfect pitch. No one. What a gift God gave the world with Jeff! I can't wait to see him again so I can hear that perfect pitch and watch him control that sweet guitar of his. Miss you so much Jeff. Thank God his guitar lives on in his many many beautiful albums.
Don't think there was anything off about anyone's pitch. Maybe you meant tone or style. But why should they duplicate that? How would Jeff be unique if everyone played like him?
Got this Album when it first came out. S_it my pants then an now. Everyone on stage and in Guitar Heaven knows where JEFF BECK belongs. What an undeniable Guitar Virtuoso. Great rendition by the other legends on stage. LOVE GUITAR WORK.
Now this is how real professionals play…Jeff Beck was the best and his music will live on and continue to inspire guitar players around the globe…..RIP Jeff and thanks for your legacy ❤️🎶💯👏👏 absolute brilliant steel guitar player…what a talent Robert is.. 🫶🏼🎶💯👏👏
A super emotional tribute was made last may 22nd, 23rd at Royal Albert Hall, London, in honor and memory of Jeff Beck the irreplaceable guitar player for many of his friends, great musicians like Rod Steward, Erick Clapton, Ron Wood, Billy Gibbons, Doyle Bramhall, Susan Tedeschi, Derek Trucks, Gary Clark Jr, Joss Stone, John McLaughlin and so many others.
There was only one Jeff Beck,no other guitarist that I can think could do what he could do.As you said, it took a pedal steel guitarist to even come close to Jeff.Great comment on your part.👍✌️
This song is one of the many examples of why someone like steve lukather should’ve been a part of this, not only were he and jeff friends and working together at one time but steve would’ve been the guy for the fusion stuff Instead we get weird noises from a pedal steel player
@@kathif17dereks interpretation would’ve been just as boring as what he did on goodbye porkpie hat. It’s ridiculous that they didnt get other people that knew jeff and played with him and it all ended being clapton and his crossroads fest buddies no lukather, jan hammer, jennifer batten, etc
I saw a Robert Randolph at the Blues Festival in Ottawa Canada. And I don't think there's anyone better on that instrument than him. And he's the one in this concert that sounds the closest to Jeff Beck surprisingly.
John back in the 70s played with a 12 string guitar on the regular, that was his thing and he didn’t miss a single string nor did he miss a note he touched all nots and chords the best! I think he also played with a double neck also.
that went on longer than it should’ve have, god forbid eric get steve lukather (who worked with jeff) to take part in this and play some of the fusion era numbers
I think overall this entire concert was kinda disappointing. Why would you not rehearse, especially when doing Jeff Beck material. If they had to coordinate everyone’s schedules around their own lives it would’ve been better to wait and pick a time when everyone could fully commit to it.
@@xBlackout718xall this ended up being was a small crossroads festival gig, its nothing but eric and his crossroads fest buddies. There are so many guys who should’ve been a part of this not only from a working relationship standpoint but from a fan standpoint too. No jan hammer, Jennifer batten either?
Nice try guys. Appreciated. Simply put, Jeff was so out ahead of the rest. With Hendrix. I was hoping for something more. Hopefully the proceeds go to a good cause. Maybe guitar lessons for Grandpa, or something? Maybe call this a "Celebration of Life" jam, Instead?
I agree. JB's output blew EC and JP in the dust. Notice RM no one attempted to play any song of JB's 3 electronica albums? Not even the tune 'Suspension'. Just saying...
Doyle Bramhall, Jr. Played in Clapton's bands for probably close to 20 years. His father was a drummer and songwriter in Austin, TX. Wrote some tunes with Stevie Ray Vaughan.
The negative commemts towards eric make me laugh , at 78 with nerve damage in his hamds he can still play better than any one on here writimg the commmets ,so imstead of passing judgememt ,just sit back close your eyes and enjoy
to be honest ..... without Jeff, these songs sound a little shallow ... I mean the slide is ok, but Jeff's approach, his drama and tension he could build up ... that was sth. else ...
Too bad Scott Henderson wasn't there. He's the only guitarist on the planet that I can think of that has some of the kind of imagination and innovation that Jeff had. Certainly Scott (nor anyone else) could reach Jeff's wonderful level, but Scott would have fit nicely in this tribute. He was also influenced by Jeff, as you can hear here... ruclips.net/video/jHb2UGIYzPM/видео.html
This song shows the limitations of Music Industry people planning the tribute to Jeff Beck, who - like his awesome fellow Yardbirds guitarists, Jimmy Page and Eric Clapton, had eclectic tastes, not limited to the guitar. In particular, this song - which in the original had strong contributions from Keyboard whiz/composer Jan Hammer - is difficult to rest atop a few guitar player who think they're going to play along with each other. Jeff Beck wasn't afraid of taking chances; and neither are these guys, either. But they won't approach this song in the same way that a brilliant keyboard player might come up with. That being said, this is one of the stronger songs on Grammy-winning album "Blow by Blow" - which got world-wide respect for Jeff Beck at last. It was a staple of superior bar bands ever since it came out in the 1970s, though, and while it might be used as a guitar vehicle(and works well as such, with a good arrangement) it's a mistake to trot it out and flail about aimlessly with it. Eric wanted to retire many years ago. But they offer him just stupendous amounts of money to MC stuff like this, so he affably comes out smiling and polishes turds as well as he can. He's got a wife and 3 twenty-something daughters, so he's never likely to turn down a paycheck for doing what he loves. It doesn't hurt that he's one of the best players ever, and has decades of reliably good taste.
you know that jeff didn’t exclusively use marshalls throughout his career and for a long time leading up to his death was using tiny fender amps on stage
Yes, Jeff typically had Marshalls, but for many years also a Fender or two in the mix. When I saw him in 2012 he had a Fender combo tucked down beside the Marshalls. He also often had one or two tiny Fender Super Champs atop the Marshall. And in recent years a 'Becktone' - which was a Magnatone with custom lettering thanks to Billy Gibbons. At one Crossroads event, 2007, Jeff was all Fender. It didn't really matter, whatever the guitar, whatever the amp he sounded like Jeff Beck.
This is terrible and slow, a real disapaointment, where is Jan Hammer?? Did Tal Winkenfeld get invited, listening to this version makes me 'Car Sick", Eric stick to your lounge lizard stuff, you don;t have the chops to play anything by Jeff!!

I decided my preferred tribute to Jeff RIP, was to listen again to the glorious original from ‘75. It was every bit as brilliant as I remembered.

Derek Trucks sounds very Jeff Beck too.
Al Perkins in his prime

Great drumming by Sonny Emory,
Nice but why Jan Hammer is not here! it's a pity
Beck seem to be the “fusion” guy to update the “boogie” style to fusion this song was an awesome example
yep a long way from Yardbirds' Jeffs Boogie shuffle ... to this fusion classic blew our minds in 75 ... Blow by Blow 😎
😊❤
So glad I wasn't at this show.

Showing my ignorance here: who’s the guy with the red guitar (solo after Clapton)?
Doyle Bramhall

Clapton's playing is anonymous here.
is that steve ferrpne on drums?
No, the drummer is Sonny Emory. He came from Earth, Wind & Fire and replaced Steve Gadd a couple years back.

I think EC sounds great - he’s not playing straight blues
This folks is how to turn a really cool vintage tune into a POS blues jam.
Just the same old blues licks...
.
This was great but this is a pretty cliquey fraternity. Greg Koch, Joe bonamossa, steve vai. Joe satriani, and Johnny A would’ve represented

I cant believe that such a major tribute to the greatest electric guitarist would be of such poor production quality!
Seems a bit half-hearted.
Yes, and so does the whole show. The absence of Jimmy Page speaks volumes. Even Rod Stewart said the rehearsals lasted about an hour.
@@claudebonenfant6700 The George Harrison tribute at same venue was superb..This is all embarrassing

Freeway Jam was written by Max Middleton who played keyboards on Blow by Blow, and some of the tracks on Wired. Jan Hammer didn't show up until Wired.
Eric organised this along with Jeff's wife ,all the proceeds are going to charity
A Jeff Beck tribute with no Marshall amps ?
you know that jeff didn’t exclusively use marshalls throughout his career and for a long time leading up to his death was using tiny fender amps on stage
It´s a tribute, not a Cover Band trying (and always failing) to do a "clone" show

All due respect, Beck deserves better than this tepid outing. Zzzzzz...
I agree. Only JM and Jeff's rhytmic session were worthy
that noise is not a tribute to great Jeff
Robert Randolph -- fine. Sonny Emory -- fine. The rest? Ouch.
Clapton playing the same weak deal he is famous for. Robert Randolph saved this mess.
Clapton sounds tired
Well he is like 75😂
He took the jab😂
As he has for a few decades…
So Uninspiring...EC not into it..A Horrible show for the Greatest electric guitar player of all time.. a very sad tribute show..
Unfortunately only average performance, no comparison to Jeff Beck/Jan Hammer
Shouldn‘t have been.
Not a tribute without Jimmy Page. Period.
Or Vinny and Tal.
Feel the same way, but I was told Jimmy doesn’t perform any more? Sad if true
Далеко, не пинк флоид, но нормально.
