Hey Louis! How have you been? The bike tour is pretty much all summer. It goes all the way from Seattle to Boston and a little bit into Niagra, Canada.

Yep the skateboard definitely saves a lot of time. I would probably take 20-25 minutes to walk from one end of campus to the other. Glad you liked the video!

how big are the dorms? are they like comfortable enough to stay in, or are u planning to move to an apartment later? and also how do dorms work, like how do you choose your roomates?
I feel like the dorms are a pretty good size, but I don't really know how big other college dorms are so I can't compare. Mine is pretty comfortable, but I also feel like I got a better dorm than others. I know there are some buildings that don't even have AC which is pretty brutal the first couple weeks of school. I'm not sure what I'm doing next year, but I'll probably get an apartment for Junior and Senior year because I'm pretty sure you can't stay in a dorm anymore. They have an online portal where you can request roommates or you can go random. I might make a dorm tour or something on this, but I hope this helps!
Really interesting video. My daughter is thinking about enrolling in FC as she’s been offered a spring admission. It looks like there’s a lot of walking between classes, food hall and your dorm. As classes are later in the day, is it safe to walk around campus?
I would say it's safe to walk around campus in the evening. There are phones all around campus you can call with an emergency, I would say you could stand anywhere on campus and at least see one within eyesight. There's also police officers roaming around occasionally. Once you get off campus is a different story, but one campus should be fine

Hi! I was admitted into umd for spring of 2023. I am looking into the freshman connection if I do attend umd. Did you have to apply to it or were you automatically put in it?
First of all, congratulations! You aren’t automatically put in, but all you have to do is fill out the application. As long as you fill it out by the deadline, I’m pretty sure there’s no way to get denied. But I would do it sooner rather than later so that you can get the classes you want. I honestly kind of liked Freshman Connection because of the later and smaller classes. The only bad part about it is that I’m in Letters and Sciences so I still have to apply to my major next year

@@sarahl3529 Yep! There's Freshman Connection advisors that are super helpful. There's also a bunch of resources online that will tell you all of the General Education requirements and recommended classes for your intended major. When I was picking my classes, I focused on general education classes and prerequisite classes that I had to complete before applying to my major

Hello Jack.......I have recently got admission letter in UMD school of medicine for 2 semester...what's the proceedings now onwards..what should I expect next to be at Maryland. would the officials send me some application or I have to fill that one? Any idea!

If your in Freshman Connection and you wanna pursue a major in business what ensures you can get into the business school?
The only thing that guarantees you get in is a 3.8 GPA when you apply. If you have less than that, you can up your chances by joining clubs, doing internships, etc. but a 3.8 GPA is the only way to guarantee it

Besides the prerequisite classes like MATH120, BMGT230, & BMGT220, I highly recommend BSOS201 if they offer it this fall. It's an investing class and I learned a lot from the professor, Dr. Wish. I believe they actually only offer the class for Freshman Connection which is pretty cool

@@jackvcohen I lived in Centreville from 1990-92 !! We didn't have A/C back then and it was all girls!! Things have changed a lot! Enjoy your time at UMD! Some of the best years ever!!

Some people do actually. For example my sister just got admitted to UMD and also was put in Freshman Connection, but was admitted to the Communications major

Hi! What were your high school stats?
I had a 4.42 weighted GPA, 3.68 unweighted, and was ranked 56 out of 260. To be honest, I feel like my stats weren't the best. I really slacked off my sophomore year, but I turned it around and got straight A's junior and senior year. I didn't even submit an SAT score because it was test optional. What I feel like helped my application was all of my extracurriculars. I was very involved in clubs, had several jobs, and did a lot of community service activities. Hope this helps!

Whats your major...my son wants CS...but he has got letters and sciences...do u have any idea about it
@@seemaa9536 So my intended major is Business Management. Since I’m currently in Letter and Sciences, I have to apply to the business school after fall semester next year. It’s kind of stressful because it’s pretty competitive and you need a 3.8 GPA to be guaranteed admission. You can get in with less, but there’s a chance you can get denied. And you can only apply once. I’m not sure what it’s like for CS or if he’d have to apply to a specific school. It all depends on how popular the major is. Business majors are really popular which is why it’s so competitive
