In muay thai you actually use teep kicks to the knee. Which are usually never used in sparring because people break their knees that way.

Love this move. Bruce Lee referred to this as a jeet tech. we trained it a little bit and it was always pretty useful. Depending on which leg you kick, and how they’re standing, they often fall straight forward so it’s an easy shot right to the face when they come down.

Because you leave yourself extremely vulnerable to getting blasted in the face, especially if you're the shorter fighter. Jon Jones is the only guy I've seen pull these off reliably and he's Jon fucking Jones and has longer limbs than everyone else. This is a highly impractical way to defend yourself from someone who is trying to take your head off. Keep your fuckin hands up, don't reach out to catch someone's god damn arm. 90 percent of attackers are going to throw a looping/overhand punch at your head. Hit them with something straight and reliable without completely borking your footwork and leaving your chin WIDE open like this guy does. I recommend a front kick or teep to the chest or circle away from the attackers rear hand and throw straight punches down the pipe. The guy sharing this cutesy BS is going to get someone hurt. Go train at a real MMA gym that has multiple local champions or guys in the UFC/PFL or just don't bother.

Front kicks are very effective. Also keep your arms as close to your head as possible. Keep a distance between you and the attacker. Last point stand sideways to minimize the target points on your body.

I'm much older now and never really professionally Trained.
But practice made perfect, and this kick, when executed effectively and efficiently, stopped some much bigger and probably or potentially tougher men dead in their tracks back in my youthful and blissfully ignorant days.
A well-timed, solidly placed and strong front kick to the gut, also almost always gave me some extra room to retreat or attack. Whichever was wiser and safer.

Very similar to Wing Chun, blocking the lead leg, but instead of locking his arm it is actually blocked down with your left arm then strike with your right arm, either palm strikes or closed fist in a vertical position with both hands.

We practice this kick with a scissor jumping technique...
Believe me it's a game changer and maybe the one and only technique that ends every attack instantly.
Unfortunately and maybe thankfully at the same time you can't practice full on..
Keep up the good work guys, excellent video.

If your shorter you don’t have to go for the knee, you can check his ankle or even his toe as long as it’s still moving. This is supposed to stop oncoming momentum so that you can change your opponents trajectory which is coming straight at you. After you have checked the knee you then can sweep your leg down and create an obstacle for your opponent to fly over.
