You know the guy is really legit when he can perform an oblique kick in flip flops.
cool move , Jun Fan JKD
😁
NEVER EVER wear flip flops outside of your house. Always be prepared
@@stevenbrown5210Always.
This screws up your knee for life😂
In muay thai you actually use teep kicks to the knee. Which are usually never used in sparring because people break their knees that way.
It's more to their thigh or hips. You don't wanna break your toe on their knees
The coach at my gym taught us to kick the thighs
The reason being that ewe huemans do not condition properly 👁️
This move is for street fights
Unless youre Jon Jones @ninobrown1203
"Who knows what else he wants?" Idk why but that's cracking me up 😂
Your ass.
I REALLY don't want to know what else he wants, lol. 😂😂😂
Love this move. Bruce Lee referred to this as a jeet tech. we trained it a little bit and it was always pretty useful. Depending on which leg you kick, and how they’re standing, they often fall straight forward so it’s an easy shot right to the face when they come down.
Protect sunglasses at all costs 😊
he just throw them

Classy move
that first kick looked like you broke his leg lol
True man 😂
Very possible to do with that kind of kick . Can give a nasty hyper extension to the knee too if you hit the knee squarely . Very good technique for taking the steam from your opponent. Trust if that leg is hurting like crazy they will want to get away from you as soon as possible
For Real that didn’t look good at all
@@johnmcguire1734 nother reason to turn you foot to the side so you dont undo a mans knees
it's called acting 😂
I love this move. It's discreet, powerful, and gets the job done with little or no effort fr overly aggressive people. Timing is everything! ✔️💯💪🏾😉
I LOVE stop kicks, front snap kicks, front thrust kicks, and low leg sweeps. ALL are low kicks, hard to predict, hard to defend, ALMOST ALWAYS catch em off guard, and can really give you a great setup for a knockout punch.
*I had an attempted mugging by 2 dudes over a decade ago* ...I hit the biggest dude with a FAST front snap kick in the nutsack, knocked him OUT COLD with a 2pc, then chased the other dude off after being sliced...had to stop the bleeding with a piece of my shirt. Dayamn I used to live wild back in the day🤣💯💯💯💯💪🏾🧔🏾♂️

That knee kick was one of the first self defense things I learned in Karate all those years ago. Thanks for the reminder. 🙏👏
The nice guy was just running to bring him his keys he left in the park bench!
One of the rules of self- defense.
No Flip flops.
Unless you are a mother... But in that case it wouldn't be for self deffense🤔🤔
The interaction looks so fake though. I’ve been on this earth a while and have never seen such an interaction lol
Ok, but...in an actual situation what are you supposed to tell the guy? "Could you come back and attack tomorrow sir? Today's no good for self-defense, you caught me in my flip flops."
@@nofurtherwest3474 Bet you don't have sunglasses that make people turn green with envy.
I should know, cause I've never seen it either.

Oblique. Once you get kicked like that in the knee, it’s over. You’re gonna need a surgery.
Incredible defense technique. ❤❤❤❤

The goat is talked of everywhere, Chael Sonnen!!!
You know I’ve been practicing that style of kick, I had no idea why I rotated the foot, but now it makes sense
I actually had to do exactly this one time and it worked out perfectly!
Knees are a focal point and they cannot stand abrupt turns. Lots of self defense projects tend to ignore this.
These are very dangerous kicks, can leave permanent damage and obviously long time to recover from in some cases. Use this kick carefully, it’s not a joke, especially if you have a solid kicking technique
Yes, you picked point there
Vicious kick, efficient and dangerous
@@EL-13Practicing this kick with your sparring partner? Yes, of course you need to be careful. But using this kick to destroy your opponent? Absolutely is a MUST when you got people tryna give you a brain damage.
@@Vynne96-jg7er some of us just want to get back home safely. We don't all have the heart to destroy
@@MrMathoks If you don't have the heart to destroy... Then you are not be able to protect your love ones from danger.
Just be careful when training for this kick. You can easily take the knee out of commission for weeks! Effective, yes. Not very partner-friendly, unfortunately...
Almost messed his knee up for real in this video
However in real world self defense if you can land this, you increase your chances of getting home to the family.
Duhhhhhh
Nah sunglasses are more important 🤣
@@courtneysmart4283yeah I know. I was thinking. Omg. We drill this in training sometimes. Or do it in sparring. But we tap it very light. Hardly hitting them. My coach is a pro fighter. He recommends doing this from southpaw with your lead right leg. That way your face isn’t exposed. In orthodox. Your kind of stepping into a potential right hand
I call it the French Oblique! Love that kick, good for people who don’t like kicks, but want to damage the legs
So many self defense tips are bushido but this stop-kick tip to the knee timed to the moment your opponent's foot touched the ground is legit!
I have to respect the attacker for letting him speak and cooperating with the self defense demonstration the second time around so everyone can see and understand it. I wish a lot more interactions could be this civil. Good on him and I wish him luck with his future endeavors.

Nice! That Stop Kick is done in Silat! We call it “Tendang Sendeng”(Oblique/Slanted Kick). It works 95% of the time because the attacker will generally go for a punch and that’s where the surprise back up and Stop Kick comes in. Great video.

These kicks are apart of my shadow cardio boxing routine. Great for stopping bigger guys charging, or anybody for that matter.
Bruce Lee's techniques still kicking ass. That kick you can see it in the fight with Chuck

Oblique kick was not invented by Bruce Lee. More like the French.
unpopular but true fact, kung fu ain't even Chinese 😂 it's Indian
@@kingkai9818 🙄
Dafaq? How is kung fu Indian? There's hundreds if not thousands of styles of kung fu and only one style of Kalari payat. Please don't regurgitate nonsense you've heard thousands of times, its simply not true.
@@kingkai9818 they use it in kali too.
I always wondered why you rarely see this kick in MMA. It's so useful for stopping an advance and creating openings.
For the same reason that they don't use dirty tricks...MMA is a sport
@@defendofranceit was super popular for a while, every few years there's a horrific careeer ending knee shredding oblique kick thrown that makes everyone panic and remember how to to evade it and use it to setup takedowns. It has a lot of counters and everytime it's successful people come up with new ways to make it harder to use
Because you leave yourself extremely vulnerable to getting blasted in the face, especially if you're the shorter fighter. Jon Jones is the only guy I've seen pull these off reliably and he's Jon fucking Jones and has longer limbs than everyone else. This is a highly impractical way to defend yourself from someone who is trying to take your head off. Keep your fuckin hands up, don't reach out to catch someone's god damn arm. 90 percent of attackers are going to throw a looping/overhand punch at your head. Hit them with something straight and reliable without completely borking your footwork and leaving your chin WIDE open like this guy does. I recommend a front kick or teep to the chest or circle away from the attackers rear hand and throw straight punches down the pipe. The guy sharing this cutesy BS is going to get someone hurt. Go train at a real MMA gym that has multiple local champions or guys in the UFC/PFL or just don't bother.
I was taught to use the leading foot (using the back leaves you off balance and open to take down).
We would also lift up and use the hips to drive the foot forward and down, into the atackers leg.
Be ready to hear something snap or maybe even bones breaking.
But...hey...it works.

Parfait!!! 👍👍
I first learned this kick in the marines before they replace h2h combat with play fighting. Then again in Savate. Used it in sparing a lot because it’s so effective. But we would aim for the hip/ leg joint so you don’t injure the knees.
Originally, that's a fact you see this kick in Savate French boxing and Penchak silat Indonesian style, with the circular interior leg kick, in crescent.

I'm much older now and never really professionally Trained.
But practice made perfect, and this kick, when executed effectively and efficiently, stopped some much bigger and probably or potentially tougher men dead in their tracks back in my youthful and blissfully ignorant days.
A well-timed, solidly placed and strong front kick to the gut, also almost always gave me some extra room to retreat or attack. Whichever was wiser and safer.

Very similar to Wing Chun, blocking the lead leg, but instead of locking his arm it is actually blocked down with your left arm then strike with your right arm, either palm strikes or closed fist in a vertical position with both hands.

If your shorter you don’t have to go for the knee, you can check his ankle or even his toe as long as it’s still moving. This is supposed to stop oncoming momentum so that you can change your opponents trajectory which is coming straight at you. After you have checked the knee you then can sweep your leg down and create an obstacle for your opponent to fly over.
Bravíssimo! 😊
