    This is a great video. I love how instead of just boringly grinding your smithing and enchanting to 100 to make the game easy , but you actually teach some proper interesting techniques about the game that I’ve never seen before. Great video

    I have never seen anyone fight in skyrim like this before. You manage to make default, vanilla skyrim combat look fun and dynamic which is crazy. Awesome stuff my man, can't wait to see what you put out next. (PS though from a brief look at your channel it seems you don't like mods [or at the very least don't use them], I still think it would be awesome to see how your playstyle changes with a few of the more common combat mods).

      Thanks man, appreciate it. I still think vanilla has a fair bit of content and it's also the most accessible version for a wide audience. I'm definitely open to mods when the well dries up though.

    Another little strat is to use the bloodskal blade whilst using become ethereal, the beam attack doesn’t pull you out of the shout as long as the physical sword doesn’t hit anything, it’s OP 😎

    • @poormansproductions2402
      @poormansproductions2402  3 года назад +6

      Doing 30 point of risk-free damage per power attack is alright, but I wouldn't exactly call it OP. Would probably be enough on lower difficulties though.

    This makes me wanna do my conjuration build again, it was so much fun, every damage i did had to be done through one way or another with conjuration. I could punch in the beginning and i must say, the beginning was near impossible, but once you got a few spells, a flame atronach, bound sword, it became a whole lot easier. No enchanting, no smithing, no alchemy, everything i obtained in the game was useful one way or another. Still managed to get 80% physical damage reduction and 85% magic resistance.

    Based video. Playing as non crafting warrior will make you appreciate many more mechanics in this game, like the silver damage bonus from the vid for example or stuff like dodging.
    It also makes it so a player uses more of the tools avilable to him hunting for special items and buying consumables, making combat more tactical... And for me it changed my mind about combat magic - destro spells are not weak, its just that smithing is OP

I'm planning on play through all content skyrim have to offer but I'm afraid I won't be able to beat vampires and mages LOL.

    • @poormansproductions2402
      @poormansproductions2402  2 года назад +1

      Cheers mate. You want to hit the power spikes (destruction 50 for an AE mage, 75 for vanilla, block 30 and 4-5 ranks of the basic +20% damage perk for warriors, dual-wielders get a huge boost at level 70 with dual savagery)
      In vanilla, you'd probably also want to level alteration for the magic resistance/absorption, but AE added the ring of the warlock, which is more than good enough and makes alteration more or less redundant.
      After that, there's really no point in leveling any further as you won't be dealing more damage and the enemies will become more tanky as you said.

    Hey, did you try the 100 block perk Shield Charge with 2 handed? I heard it works if you run at enemy and click block when near him instead of pressing it. But I don't have an opportunity to test it. If that works consistently, it may be fun, despite not working as probably intended.

    Also tried ebony blade build but the damage seemed too low when facing stronger enemies.

    • @poormansproductions2402
      @poormansproductions2402  3 года назад

      I'm not familiar with the cheese you mentioned. I never played a stealth build so I can't help you there. I don't like the ebony blade because it encourages a trading playstyle which I tend to avoid. In theory, it should have pretty good DPS in the context of a no-crafting build once powered up. Under normal circumstances, it just gets blown out of the water by anything that's smithable.

    Man, I also want to try the necromage trick, but kinda afraid that might be a bug

    • @poormansproductions2402
      @poormansproductions2402  3 года назад +2

      Wuuthrad deals more damage, but the difference isn’t huge and I think the companions questline is kind of boring so I didn’t bother. You could of course go for it, there’s nothing stopping you. I filled the soul gems with the battleaxe of fiery souls, you can find it in ironbind barrow on the throne in the boss room. Necromage would be alright, but nothing spectacular in this case. You would get immunity to magic, 30 extra seconds of berserk rage, a bit more damage from your ironhand gauntlets and better elemental fury/slow time. I opted not to go for it since it’s an exploit and that was part of the gimmick but again, nothing’s stopping you.

The AI is kind of wonky at this point, sometimes they'll lag behind thus creating enough distance, sometimes they'll be on your heels no matter what. The most consistent way is to use the terrain to your advantage and jump over obstacles they have to go around.

    • @poormansproductions2402
      @poormansproductions2402  Год назад +1

      It's not necessarily about making the game harder, this is Skyrim after all, it's more about discouraging the classic "trading paint" gameplay and coming up with something new. I'm using the hotkey trick to try and add more depth to the combat system. Without it, power attacks are next to useless when you're fighting multiple enemies because they immobilize you for so long, turning you into a sitting duck for the enemies to dunk on. Removing the power attack would make the already paltry combat even less interesting. You can only punish enemies that overextend with a single left-click that has no chance to stagger and you can't counter blocking enemies at all. Can it be considered an exploit? I guess so, but at that point I don't really care because I would find the combat too boring and I wouldn't be playing the game.
