I just found out tonight my broke power bank battery has been inflated almost to its limit....so I search for the video of how to disposal the battery safely. Your video is the one who come first,so I'll gonna try your method. Thank you. Edit : It work...it start to bubbling, but will it deflate? I'm worried it'll gonna explode.
Should be discharged first until it shows low but I guess it was already low. Let it sit few days even. Check your local recycling options for lithium batteries. After discharge, I guess it's safe to throw it in the e-waste bin if allowed or any garbage. It all depends on how recycling is done where you are. The reason you are discharging it is to eliminate the risk of it catching fire in the bin. It's usually just gas between layers when puffy. Try not to breathe that stuff.
I'm no expert, but putting a damaged Li battery in water sounds like a very bad idea to me. If the outer layers are damaged enough to let the water leak inside, you could have a violent fire on you hands.
Small batteries like this won't burn when you put it in water. Be carefully with batteries that use lithium metal. Lithium ion won't have the same effect. The bubbling you see in the video is dangerous in large scale since it's hydrogen gas.
my wife’s best friend dropped off a gallon jug of RC car gas because my one son used to race RC cars. But that was years ago, and I’m stuck with a gallon jug that looks like a gallon jug of windshield washer fluid, but this is two-stroke premixed racing gasoline.I’ve been stuck with this for at least five years
bro my battery is extremely swollen I am scared touching it I somehow disconnected it from main board but how am I suppose to remove it, its sticked with phone can I just pull it slowly I hope it won't blast, I love my hand
It's far safer to use a multimeter, or even a simple battery tester, than looking for bubbles caused by electrolysis of the terminals of a battery. Bearing in mind that a damaged lithium ion battery itself can explode when exposed to water. The guy in the video clearly has massive cajones but don't do this if you like your eyes and eyebrows
Lithium ion batteries have very little if any lithium contrary to the name, so it's fine to do. For batteries that do actually contain it though, yeah no don't do this lmao 💀
@@IONHowTo bro, wants to himalayan salt. 🤔 its appropriate to use cheapest salt available. himalyan salt is good premium salt. why waste it on this process like that.

I normally throw my old batteries over the neighbours fence. Let them worry about it 😂
Why?

what about if there is a whole in a phone battery? wont the battery catch on fire if exposed to water
If there is a hole in the battery, the battery is probably discharged already.
This is good advice. Thank you.
What about the ones used in RC cars?
discharge the battery with a car light bulb first. the incandescent old style. when light is off you can do this.
@@IONHowTo I don't have access to that
Can I remove the protection and but the battery in salt water ??
No need, just contact need to be submerged to drain it. Or use an old sryle incancescent light bulb on terminals and let it sit draining.

Take it to a local small repair shop to do it for you
@@IONHowTo Thank you I did as you said, the repair shop owner discharged it and throw it away in garbage and now my hands are safe😄
I know its late but mostly if you get isopropyl alcohol under the battery and let the glu soak that alcohol then it should be easy to unstick

Battery was discharged as much as possible before final deep discharge.
Anyone trying this is doing it at their own risk!

If that's what you have, use that. Cheapest salt is fine

Bad advice. Most councils have disposal places you can take them. Don't put them in water!
Water is to discharge it, after it can go to the e-waste bin.
Seems like a bad advice(
Complete bunk!
