No that is not a stadium @41:35, it is the Tafawa Balewa Square, shortened as TBS and located in the centre of Lagos island. It was initially used as a horse racing ground back then during Colonial era, called Lagos Race Course. This current edifice was constructed by the General Yakubu Gowon administration in 1972 and named after Nigeria's first Prime Minister, Sir Tafawa Balewa, who was murdered during the January 1966 coup d'état. It is also where Princess Alexandra representing the Queen, handed over Nigeria's constitution to Prime Minister, Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa on October 1st, 1960 to proclaim our independence. The British Union Jack🇬🇧 was lowered for the last time and the green-white-green flag🇳🇬 of the Federation of Nigeria was hoisted for the first time on that ground, signifying Nigeria's attainment of political independence. There is also a Cricket pitch behind the complex. Kenyan🇰🇪 team do take on the Nigerian National cricket team on that ground. Then Opposite the TBS is the National Assembly Complex now an Annex, when Lagos was the Capital of Nigeria until December 1991, before it was moved to Abuja. Thank you for this great video and well done👏🏽
