ah yes! it makes since making the hairs and skin white/gray, I just means that anyone can imagine them the way they want to. for instance, Micheal Aston was customized differently and imagined differently to everyone. though I know what you were going for, since these characters weren't introduced in the game it's fine to make them however you think his classmates might be.
