Well said brother. I am a really satisfied and happy graduate from 2018 batch of NIT. When I was there 70% of the home state quota was getting filled but it's saddening to see the numbers decreasing. Hope the awareness increases among us தமிழ் மக்களே!

I think that not only awareness but also the pressure of boards exam in tamil nadu.More schools extend their timing to 7:00 and 8:00 without time for self study.KOTA is a city in Rajasthan which they study only for JEE They are given exception to school but there is no such thing in tamil nadu. Daily self study is essential for JEE but here school timing are extended more which results to impairment of self study time😭😭

Please make a note one important point here ...AP , Telangana & Rajasthan having so many private colleges for intermediate students ( after 10th ). They will prepare the students for iit-jee & NeeT with public exams. Almost 90% students are from private colleges all over districts. they will teach 5 hrs public exam syllabus + 5 hrs teach for competitive exams. for Hostlers 12 hrs studies. Weekly and Daily exams practise. In Tamil Nadu we don't have private colleges for intermediate (+11 & +12 ) . That's why those 3 states are getting huge ranks. Ex:- Sri chaitnya , Narayana , Fiit jee , Resonance , physics wallah..and so many.

Exactly "awareness illla" I agree, when I was in my higher secondary I even don't know what is jee, iit, mit. I think it was not my mistake, until the schools which needs only 100% results, students won't got awarenessed about this stuffs or any knowledgeable stuffs and they surrended in their comfort zone(me one of the student who suffered a lot from this 😑)

Just so u know, Sundar Pichai doesn't earn 8000 crores because of studying in IIT.It was because he went to Stanford and University of Pennsylvania and had the brains to innovate. Joining in IIT doesn't guarantee you a life of luxury and success.But your knowledge does.I agree that your little speech can provide some motivation to JEE aspirants like me but practically speaking IIT is not your life.You can become successful in any period of your life! Sir nobody teaches in tamil everybody teaches in hindi or english . That is why the people from the north able to grasp the concept well and attend the exam well,but in tamil nadu nobody teaches in tamil well that's the reason behind the scene. I also wanted a teacher who teaches well and uplift my problem solving skills but I can't find one which is annoying and sad 😭😭😭😭

I'll tell you the reason sir.. tamil nadu students study for marks and memorize but students going for iit coaching understand the concept and use same concept in different ways(sums) intelligently.. we are fit only to get seats by reservation and talk shit about NEET sir.. we are not intelligent rather we just study textbooks and limit our knowledge... One should put hardwork efforts and be smart enough to crack iit and nit.. village schools la most of teachers should be given coaching for making students to prepare for IITs and chumma textbook la irukarthu nadathuna u can't crack iit sir.. I am going coaching and I know about it.. just my opinion.. 🙏
Sir, I beg to disagree. A few students might understand the concepts and enter IIT. But mostly because of rote learning provided by coaching centers. They coach on how to clear exams not educate them. These days without coaching centers not many can clear exams.

Hi Sir! I agree there's less representation from Tamil Nadu in IITs but can you please check your stats before putting it out. I don't know on what basis you are putting these stats. But being a student from NIT Trichy, I can assure you that we have a population of more than 50% students from Tamil Nadu (i.e) more than 2000 students (From all the 4 batches studying UG) who did their secondary schooling in Tamil Nadu. And we do have 50% reserved seats for students who did their schooling in Tamil Nadu. But your count says only 28 students. Please do check/verify sir before giving some information. I see lot of young aspirants in the comment section, your unverified stats might highly demotivate them.

Tamilnadu state board is quite a weak syllabus. More students should read CBSE or something of a higher standard. Tamilnadu students maybe getting a lot of marks in weak syllabus but they may not be well educated in general compared to CBSE counterparts. This is the fundamental issue.

Sir, I am a class 12 student from TN(State board). I am interested in writing jee. But I'm somewhat reluctant in going forward( bcoz, I didn't have any exposure to Ncert books and haven't started preparing yet.) The confusion about the announcement of the boards exam has added to my worries. Is it wise for me to drop a year and prepare for iit-jee single mindedly? Please give me your suggestion.

Total computer science seats in IIT Madras is 30.. Thereby we don't prefer IIT. Moreover private institutions are providing good education here, that is not true in other states. So they prioritise institution over course.

I remember,when I joined NITY in 1973,50% was TN(then Madras)quota and 50% was central quota.Later AIEEE was introduced at all India level and 50% state quota was by state merit ranking with reservations as applicable.I persume even after JEE mains,state ranking for 50% quota would be there.Probably TN candidates don't cross cut off ranks at jee mains,which is surprising as 1.5 lakh candidates are short listed in jee mains result.It would be fair to tatal TN candidates in all NIT's as the desired branch( e.g.cse) would not be available in NITT.
