I love this! It perfectly describes why I love this app so much, and it’s cool to see someone else use it in so many of the same ways as myself (travel, health, quick entries on phone and expand later on Mac, etc).
A couple of my own tips: I have a dedicated “The Arts” journal for entries about books, movies, TV shows, games, theatrical shows, concerts, etc, and I tag those with “Started” and “Finished” so I can cross-reference them to other entries and see, say, what book I was reading at the time of other entries. It also helps me see how many books or games or whatever I’ve finished in the year, since I consume these in different formats across multiple devices.
Also, I use an “Introductions” tag for whenever I meet new people. This is so clutch. The metadata captures where and when the entry was made. I just quickly type the name of the person I just met and a brief first impression phrase or sentence so I can recall remember the person the name belonged to. And it’s so easy to do these very quick even in a social situation without anyone noticing, and you instantly become friendly person that remembers everyone’s names.

I've been using Day One since November 2014, and it absolutely changed my life. I've been spending many years importing older journaling from pre-Day One, so I can build a thorough record of my life.
    Thank you for sharing!

I’ve been thinking about day one for awhile. And I’ve also reviewed at least a dozen videos. This is by far the best, most informative, most easily understood and completely objective. I discovered you by chance and I’m so glad I did. Thank you as you have allowed me to make the decision to go ahead and inspired me with the ideas you have provided. Have a great 2022.!

What I like about this journaling app right away is like every time you write something on that particular day it shows you what you wrote a year ago and so forth that is freaking cool because it always reminds you what you wrote a year ago and you can always reflect in the moment

    • @thefulcrum

Totally agree, my friend. And sometimes, there are little gems in a day that get forgotten over a year. Being able to revisit it makes life seem so rich.
Are you still using day one, or switched to something else?

I started to use this app as a way to cope with a though breakup I had back in 2021. I thought it was going to be something temporary, 2 years later and I am still using this app constantly and now I can’t imagine my life without it. It’s fascinating to go back and read entries from a year ago and how I was feeling at the time.

    Good video 👍🏻
I’ve had Day One for almost as long as you, since 2013 when I bought my first iPhone, and I’ve been using it almost every day, also ☺️
You have journaled your 20s and I, my mid 60s into my 70s 😄
I’m still using the Classic/Legacy version but one of these days I need to finish syncing everything over to the current version so I can make use of being able to have multiple journals.
I hadn’t thought of having multiple journals but you gave me the idea of doing so rather than having separate entries for different parts of my day so thank you 💕💕💕

This was so helpful! I signed up for Journey yesterday because a lot of people were saying it's better than Day One, but it kept glitching when I was typing and it messed up my computer. After watching this video I feel like Day One is so similar and hearing that you've used it for so long is definitely converting me over to it

I just recently heard about Day One and this is the first video I’ve come across when searching for more information. This was sooo helpful and informative and I’m sold! I love journaling but my perfectionism keeps me from reaching my full journaling potential, I think (one of the biggest things is that my handwriting isn’t consistent and I hate that). Literally every single feature about this app sounds amazing and I can’t wait to dive in. I also think keeping a journal digitally will take me back to the blogging/livejournal days lol

The app doesn't have that good of a UI on Android, so for Android I recommend Diarium or Diaro. No, they're not new elements (I actually thought that for a second when I came across the names on a forum). Both have a pretty good UI, but you'll most likely gravitate towards one more than the other.

Hi! I loved this review. Very well made video - thank you so much! I wanted to ask you what your thoughts were regarding handwritten journaling. Some people say it’s better to journal on paper, or at least on a iPad with an Apple Pencil. Sometimes when I journal I do quite like handwriting as it feels more persona. On the other hand, it’s way slower and more messy. I would love to hear your thoughts on this and whether you ever journal in hand written format. Thank you so much! I’ve subscribed to your channel 😊

    • @WesleyAnna
      @WesleyAnna  Год назад

I use digital journaling for cataloguing events (what I did today) and hand journaling for expressing emotions, free writing, brain storming. Definitely benefits to both but I find that keeping my logs digital helps me organize and search them in the future!
